While I am hoping you are dead on here, there is something about this thought that sounds awful familiar to what we thought prior to the current gen. I hope that we dont see the same thing this time around.

Yeah the base animation/locomotion needs to be done over. It's just not realistic and doesn't blend well with the other animations. Even alot of those aren't great. Just playing the Madden 25 demo, for every good animation I see 5-6 awkward ones.

Well the transition is definitely going to be better. The game will undoubtedly be a better entry into the generation than Madden 06, but I don't think it will be enough to make us totally forgive and forget this awful, AWFUL(IMO) generation of football.

Looks like they just copied and pasted current gen animations over to next gen. I wouldn't get my hopes up to much for Madden 25 next gen. I expect the same game play with better graphics, presentation, and live crowds and sidelines.

I can forgive in a heartbeat if they fix many of the glaring legacy issues and produce a product that shows a great effort.

EA is holding a press conference tomorrow at gamescon. Maybe we'll see a new trailer or something for next gen.

I just hope the animation and graphics live up to next gen.

I could careless for what type of cleats or gloves a player wears. Thats secondary stuff to what needs to happen on field.

Ironically, I'm in the minority here for my excitement for next gen, lol. The reason being is that I feel like the focus is finally shifting to the things that matter... The actual football UNDER THE HOOD. I like graphics as much as the next guy, but graphics are not what make sports games great. While a big portion of OS concerns itself with facemasks, socks, hair and arm bands (which is fine, btw), I could really care less about those things. I want the players to move realistically, to interact realistically, and most importantly, make intelligent and realistic decisions. I like what I am seeing with the line play and the blocking. I'll be 100% honest here - if the graphics didn't improve at all from this gen, but the football gameplay made a giant leap, I would not be at all disappointed. All pro Football 2k8 is still my all time favorite football game and the graphics in that game are far from spectacular. It's the football underneath that makes it so special. That's what I am looking for in a next gen football game. I want football intelligence to matter and allow me to play the game as an adult instead of a 10 year old kid.

I'm on my iPhone, so I can't embed the famous video trailer of M06.

But for those who've seen it and remember, the game was absolutely NOTHING like that trailer, and it just went downhill from there.

I hope----- really hope------ it's not déjà vu this time around.

All truth right here. Even though I do care about the authenticity of the appearance, gameplay and ai trump that. I'm an animations guy, and if they can finally get those things looking right, I'll be extremely happy. I just want them to nail the feel, look, sound, and pace of the NFL in this next generation. They have a LONG way to go though. I hope that is truly their focus, and if it is, I hope they have the skills to make it a reality for us.

This is one of those things I agree with but at the same time this was our thinking for the gen we are about to come out of. We are always hopeful.

They HAVE to make this game better from the start. If this next-gen has us 4 years in and them introducing some new tackling antics like Pro-Tak, we are in trouble. If Ignite isn't a complete overhaul, then why not still call it Infinity? It's like every new name they give shows us that the last name development was a flop.

The current Madden engine showed us this generation that it has been stretched to its fullest. We are still seeing its inability to carry out consecutive hit tackles. While we see some, there are still many cases where the second defender dives through the action.

So now we see camera views that would never be true in-game cameras, the "WIP" in the bottom corner and the same false hope that maybe when we see it in real-time we'll be impressed.

I don't mean to be all negative. I'm hopeful for the game. It's just that what I see now is all very repetitive with the same hype and speculation.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

                            Gameplay does trump everything!
I think back to APF and that other game. No hand towels, gloves were sometimes wrong, and no gang tackling.

But look at how active and positive those threads still are. Why? Because they nailed gameplay, as well as AI logic.

EA should go the route of The Show---- nail the gameplay first, then add all the "little things" as each new version's released.

By the time next gen is a few years old, Madden would become legendary, and not just because of the name.

I have good days and bad days when it comes to my outlook for Madden on new consoles, frankly I'm just ready to get it over with, lol. I will be so glad when they finally release full fledged, unedited game play for the new consoles for all to see and judge.

My ultimate hope rests on around March 2014 and the chance that the NFL exclusive ends, even if that means there isn't actually another NFL game competitor for x amount of years. I just dread the idea of having to depend solely on Tiburon for NFL gaming another entire console gen.

I concur that gameplay is the most important factor in a sports game but the little things shouldn't be neglected. On that note, I'm a little concerned that they made RGIII's hair so long and it looks like he has dreadlocks instead of braids. On a positive note, Marshawn Lynch's hair looks longer than RGIII's which is encouraging.
