Granted, not that many people actually will (the game doesn't sell that many copies) but about 1 in 5 people will be burned by this on the PS3 and that is unforgivable.
I hate to sound like some company man, but who the heck would want to buy a gaming system without internet access? It's the only way to enjoy the true potential of your Xbox 360 or PS3. As much as I wish every game would be released without bugs, I can be somewhat comforted that developers at least have the option to correct them through patches as long as they are released in a timely fashion. This is the reality of the gaming landscape. I understand that some people can't afford the cost of internet in their households. But if this is true, then they shouldn't be shelling out $60 for a video game in the first place.

      Crap happens.

I've been there and I'm sure others have. Jobs lost unexpectedly, sudden expenses, etc.

Plus, maybe they are using 3G/4G for internet, but can't afford $80/month for Comcast or whatever - so they put that to the phone so they can stay on the internet, but PS3 can't use 3G/4G.

$60 might be something they saved for, especially as a die hard Madden fan. I've saved up for games in advance when I know their release dates before.

Not saying it's something devs/the industry should bend over backwards to accommodate. I know there's business realities, etc. Just saying it's not necessarily a simple scenario.

With any yearly cycle of sports games we will have known issues/glitches. I'm glad to know this will be addressed on release day and not further in the future.
If I was that 20% without internet I would take my console over to a friends BC that would suck not having any updates. Seems like each year updates are much needed so going without it and not getting to some free WiFi is crazy IMO.

I enjoyed my Sega, Super Nintendo, N64 and Gameboys just fine without internet access.

I don't have my system hooked up to the internet. I do play and buy Madden every year (except this year). EA sports makes millions on people like me every year and the REDICULOUS glitches in this game are shameful. EA needs to be dismantled from the inside out and re-staffed with people who care about what product they put out! I honestly believe that they DONT have a quality control department and they don't play the game before they release it!
