Looks good. The only thing that I didn't like and hope they can correct for next gen is the "sliding" in some of the animation transitions. ie. defensive stance to a defensive slide.

I like what I see though. Looks like 2k improved gameplay wise. I want to see a cheeser play to see if defenders will slide out of the way because of a forced dunk or layup animation. I hope they got rid of that non sense and there is better contact.

But in this video the sliding looks to be much improve. Hopefully next gen it will be eliminated completely.

Yeah, the irrational folk always seem to make an appearance around this time of year. Then again, I also think it's more than fair for people to be rationally unimpressed thus far as well. Sometimes reasonable impressions will be positive, sometimes they'll be negative.

I've had years of 2K where I've been 100% hyped at this point, then I've had years like this one, where nothing has really jumped out at me yet. I'm guessing some other people feel the same way. And maybe their verbalization of those feelings is just their way of expressing disappointment that the game doesn't seem to have a ton of things that pop out at them right away.

Further, when people say it feels or looks the same, they could literally be referring to the player graphics. But if I had to guess, they're referring to everything: the graphics, the presentation, the audio, the commentary, the off-court animations, a lot of the on-court animations, etc. I admit it, in reference to all those elements I just mentioned, 2K14 seems to look more like a previous 2K than any other new edition I've seen this generation. The reasons why this may be are very sensible (end of console's run, graphical ceiling, concentration on next gen) but it probably doesn't make people feel much better about it.

The good news is we've hardly scratched the surface and all our presumptions could be flipped upon their heads. But just as there's always people who say, "Wait! Wait! We don't know everything yet! This game could still be awesome!", one must understand there'll likely always be a counterpoint out there saying, "Alright, in the past I've seen this game hyped and I was ultimately let down. I think I'm going to be a little more cautious in what I wait for and what I let myself buy into this time around."

This is my 2 cents from what I observed from the videos

When the developers sat down at the table and asked what was their number #1 priority when it came down to NBA 2K14, I'm pretty damn sure it wasn't presentation or player models. So someone took the black sharpie and listed out priority fixes for NBA 2K14 that needed to be addressed such as 1) gameplay being the highest on that list. Now the developers will also tell you that games developed on a yearly circle are under-appreciated and the full vision for the developers is prolonged on 3 phases. This is true. Sport games don't have the luxury to be produced every 2-3 years. So anything they establish gameplay wise will be naked and transparent to the human eye at first. It's better for you the gamer/consumer to try out and be the judge, because he said/she said will just confuse you even more. Now I'm just talking about the current gen version here not the next gen. I believe the next gen version will blow folks away, they got some surprises up their sleeves. I see the disappointment in folks but what I'm saying is 2K is using majority of their resources and assets on the next gen version because that is the bread and butter for 2K years to come. The current gen is at the maturity/decline stage in the cycle

Lol. Comments are just epic. I don't know guys but really you all sounded like when 2k13 was about to release a year ago.Then all the excitements have been replaced with disappointments.

IMHO Not impressed at all. Still feels like the same game. I have a feeling that after 3 months ill go back to 2k11 again. While saving money for next gen.

More accurate passes?nah. I would more likely to see more fumbled and bad passes that results in a turnover.I dont want see another steals only turnovers in the stat sheet.

How can people still think the graphics have room to improve? There's only so much space on a disc and at a certain point GAMEplay means more to a GAME than graphics.

Rant aside, the gameplay looks smooth. Just hoping there's some big blocks in the paint this year, and obviously I hope the rebounding's improved. Not gonna criticize any footage, I'll save my true judgement once I get my hands on a demo.

I don't see it Vni but I think I will partake in your optimism. I'm a realist and wasn't expecting this game to look leaps and bounds better than 2k13 but I do expect player face upgrades at the very least and don't think that is a big request for us current gen-ers(Especially the cover guys). Just don't want Beluba and LD2k to go all Don Mattrick (former xbox guy) on us current gen-ers by saying: "We have a game for people that want improved faces where KD doesn't look like Winnie the Pooh with a Goatee and Faried actually has his dreads right..You can play it on the PS4 or Xbox 1!"..

The true test on how big a leap 2k14 is won't be able to be discovered until the sticks are in our hands. Can we impact the ball handler on defense? Do the passes travel with more velocity? Have the amount of AUTOmations been reduced to create more control? Is the 1-3-1 defense still a go-to crutch for cheesers? Can defenders create contact with constant rim attackers/dunkers? These are the most pressing questions for me.

lets be real if this was other company ppl would been reacting the same way even if it was more or less mins of a video..i didn't ppl complaining then when it was happening..so when its happening with this game everybody acting like ppl who is upset is crazy smh lol

yeah, but they bobble it way too much in 2k13, and often for no reason...like when you just make a simple pass to an open guy.

man some of those things already was in the game and retweaked or it was in the past 2k games and brought back..so yes minor lol...n as of right now still haven't touched the major things that ppl want the game to improve in..but everybody have different interest..that's just life..you may like your food one way and i'm going to like it a different way 9 times out of ten...just how it is but it is a problem when you have a big group saying the same stuff.

by the way i know i don't need to buy the game but that doesn't mean i don't want two good basketball games..so the game i do buy won't be slacking because one company starts to not care..then it means i have no basketball game...2k is consider "the best" so it needs to stay way so the other game can push themselves to do better..i use to buy both games back in the day and right now i don't have that option..smh

The upside to what seems to be modest changes is that most of the work seems to have been done on game systems and addressing balance issues. Instead of massive new changes with new exploits, it sounds like many things were upgraded and the exploits were specifically addressed.

It could be a good thing that 2K14 is more like a super patch (and then some), and it might end up being one of the most balanced and realistic games in the series.

The speed of the game has improved but fast breaks still don't look quick enough. There isn't really much of a blur when you see Westbrook sprinting down the court in transition. I think the problem is a legacy issue, though, in that the players don't take big enough strides and/or steps when they sprint in the game, but maybe it's just me. Hope they fix the ice-skating for next-gen, too.
