To be fair, there are some areas where a lefty finish can just about be automatic for many (assuming they have a clean look). Open point blank layups from the left side of the basket would be an example.

That said, there's a big difference between a lefty finish over street folk with a limited contest versus a lefty attempt over Roy Hibbert (or even a DeJuan Blair type) providing a serious amount of pressure at the hoop. I believe the same can be said for lefty jump hooks. Many players have the lefty skill but the majority undoubtedly prefer firing those hooks with their right hand.

In terms of dunking, I would suggest watching any random assortment of highlights and mixtapes and notice how many times a player is able to jam with their off-hand in a game situation. Carlos Boozer is one of the few exceptions I've seen over the years. Elsewise, when players are able to put one down lefty, it's kind of a big deal because it's difficult to pull off (I recall Russell Westbrook being a little giddy about his first in-game lefty flush).

The players with the best chance of dunking with the off-hand are those who elevate off of two feet and even then, again, it's not common that a player can interchange freely. For one footed leapers, they typically have a strong launching leg (for right handers, it'd be the left leg) so if nothing else, a right handed launch can squash their typical exploding ability.

people draw alot of conclusions from three 1-minute videos! The graphics will look the same because its the best they can do on current hardware. The game mechanics, defense, animations, etc etc have have clearly been upgraded per the short videos we have seen.

if you dont like it , wait till November , no need to post " it looks like 2k13" when its obvious to the world the graphics will be the same.

I've been saying this forever the players that dunk or lay up with either hand like jrue holiday and LeBron it's ok, but when you have Lamar Odum making contact lay ups with his right hand that's no good

At the risk of repeating oneself, I really don't find it to be objectionable for folks to see the released footage so far and think to themselves, "Alright, this feels pretty much like 2K13 with a silver version of the same overlays as last year." I don't think it's just in reference to the way things are drawn, but virtually everything feels the same from the perspective of a non-player viewer catching only the briefest of glimpses. I appreciate reading other people's impressions though, because they tend to notice really small improvements I sometimes have difficulty picking up.

The graphics are the same, yes. But so are the overlays and wipes (except for the color and maybe less chains). The way the players all stand stagnantly in a circle during their pre-game huddle then walk in sync out to the court is still the same. The way they dap their opponents is identical, with the same camera work. If I had to guess, I'd suppose the time-out graphic will be very close to being a carbon copy. It goes on and on.

That's not to say I expect major upgrades in each and every one of these superficial matters. It's just that, typically, the small changes and additions (aka the little things, details, aesthetics animations, etc.) tend to provoke a feeling of newness, leading people to saying things like, "Holy cow, the coach actually walked away from the bench to talk with his assistants at the start of the time-outs! Awesome!" And as it appears thus far, the changes appear to be a little more subtle this year, and it's likely going to be tough for people to pick up on that via short, early gameplay.

We've seen such a small bit of a limited demo, with old build gameplay where time-outs likely aren't even possible to call. But I think the "sameness" people are speaking of is not just, "The drawing of the graphics has not improved!" Rather, I think it's more of virtually everything seeming very familiar. And again, it's a reality of end-of-current-generation sports games, but it can still be a bummer.

It's like this every damn year....early vids "it looks like and upgraded 2kxx" so let me post my displeasure over and over and over again....what's funny is its the same people that complain about the lack of info and footage.

Seems like the ones who play the most can actually see the changes. I love seeing more contact in the paint and shots being contested inside. That stupid animation where the defender like "jumping stumble animation" is gone from the looks of it.

              sorry for crappy quality gifs

What disappointed me was that the footage shown reinforces to me that I won't be using the Euro-mode much if at all.

Euroball is not just repackaged NBA games but that is exactly what I felt I saw here. I really enjoy the commentating team and never grow tired of Steve Kerr in 2k. Yet, he was out of place and so was the rest of the team when announcing a Euro-game.

This footage just reinforces to me that this mode is wasted on me; something I really hoped would not happen.
I don't think this was ever packaged as a mode, per se. I could be wrong. If it was, then yeah, that's kind of weak. I think it just supposed to have those teams and players for the European folks that wanted them.

I want to ask the guys that continue to say this is the best 2k can do graphically and why do u expect it to look different or better this year then last year, are you guys saying this because next gen is comin out the following month after 2k14 releases or do you really believe that this is the best they can do graphically...because I believe that 2k11 and 2k12 had alot better lighting then 2k13 does so there is no way that 2k just maxed out on graphics with this current gen.

Graphics don't exist in a vacuum so if 14 has more animations or other things going on that in turn could effect the quality of the graphics being that they have reached max capacity for horsepower and memory for this generation of consoles.

We don't know what the tradeoff's are but at this point there have to be some when your maxing out of resources. All the teams and players and uni's and animations etc eat up memory. You can't just keep adding things to a system that is near capacity you have to start balancing.

So I can't speak for everyone else but that is what I mean when referring to graphics tapped this gen. Sure they could get you a little more here or there but probably at the expense of something else.

At the end of a generation there are more important things to me than graphics because in NOV that part is taken care of.

That makes since, but let me ask you this do you think with the graphics being so much greater in next gen will the gameplay take a hit or will next gen have the power to give ou both at its best rather then one side lacking more then the other, Im all for good gameply too but i love good visuals too so im kind of in the middle.

It's all well and good that we get Beluba and Zach Timmerman to talk to the community on these boards, as well as hear from Rob Jones on interviews, and LD2K ofc is regularly relaying our gripes and wishes to the 2K devs, but every one of those devs deal with gameplay.

                        What about the audio devs?

                        What about the graphics devs?

Why aren't they in touch with the community?

2K's audio is poor compared to the rest of the game. They can't even get on Live 10's level with the crowd noise. This is a huge percentage of the immersion factor of the game. Users psychologically feed off the crowd's energy. There have been many online association games I've played where even in the fourth quarter, the crowd sounds like a baseball crowd usually does, not interested in the game at all. It's so hard to motivate yourself to even play when you don't even feel it matters.

I really don't know what some people actually expect to see change from game to game. Maybe those people don't even know.

Do they really think the next 2K game should be so different that you can't even tell it's the same game? Because you can just pop in a disc at random and pretend it's another 2K game. I mean it won't look just like the last one then, right?

And then there are people who think the game should be catered to them and them alone. I won't play online ever, I won't touch Crew and I barely play Association, but I know that there are other people who do, so I don't trip when I hear about adding more online features or whatever instead of player creation news. Because they got a whole score of people to make a game for.

I believe people want that wow factor from year to year, esp if they werent happy with the game the year before, so for those guys that didnt like 2ks graphics or there presentation layout from last year and they basically see the samething in 2k14, its like why would i spend 60 dollars for this and it looks the same. Without realizing 2k made alot of changes to the gameplay.

So, if the disc is full, why insert 14 Euroleague teams instead of a better graphic?! Why insert those Jay-Z videos in 2K13 instead of a better graphic?
I'm disappointed about this thing. The disc is full? Ok, get a better graphic, better sounds crowds and better animation for current-gen and put the 14 Euroleague teams in the next-gen consolle that will certainly have a huge graphic!
We're not talking about a product that is offered to us for free. We pay 60 euros for a new version of the game, and we claim a new version of the game, not another 2K13 version

appearance and graphics mean little to me. it does not affect my enjoyment of the game. i really just care how the game plays. good graphics are just a bonus. Even if 2k did get rid of some other things in order to improve the graphics, i don't think the difference would be that much.

Like Czar said, they've gone about as far as they can go in this generation with graphics and the number of animations they can include. That's all there is to it. People expect too much without understanding what is possible and what's going on under the hood.
