Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
I really do not understand this. I downloaded the new roster update, saw the ratings for my favorite team, and was okay with it. Now I just started my Connected Franchise in Owner mode and nearly every single player on my roster has a different rating. It really makes no sense and I'd like someone to answer this for me. The same thing happened in Madden 13.Tags: None -

Don't quote me on this, but the ratings you see before you start your career are ratings used in Play Now. Ratings are changed for playing in CCM.
I will see if I can find the article or thread that explains this.Make #FranchiseNation great again!
This thing called Twitter I do sometimes
What's your thoughts? It's a game.

It has to do with the coaches scheme. Coaches scheme doesn't effect play now. I believe.Last edited by Gronkanador; 08-27-2013, 06:18 PM.Comment

Falcons are 86 in play now but 80 when I started my CCM...Comment

Thanks, I'd really love to know the reason. Because honestly, it doesn't make sense to me. I thought it was a glitch in Madden 13. It appears not to be apparently.Comment

it has to do with your player schemes that you pick. Different player schemes can raise and lower their OVR.Comment

I should also note that some of the players that were updated with their real current positions, are back to their old positions once I started the franchise. Like for example- Desmond Bishop was listed as a MLB, but currently he's playing OLB. Now, when I downloaded the EA roster update, it updated him to OLB. I saved it, and I'm using it for the franchise, but now he's back to MLB! WTF. This is infuriating.Comment

How does that explain the positions being automatically switched back then for some players? That shouldn't affect it whatsoever. And why in the hell am I unable to edit a player's position? I thought they changed that this year? You can switch player's positions to whatever you want, even defense to offense if i wanted?Comment

It's so frustrating. David Diehl is a 74 Overall, but an 89 when I start CCF??????
Doesn't make ANY sense. I HATE schemes with a passion.Comment

Couldn't disagree more schemes make sense to me. If you run a wishbone offense, a 99 OVR QB with 59 SPD would be no use to you. In your scheme this is at best a 70 OVR. Whereas the QB with low throw power and accuracy but 99 SPD and AGI would be a monster. The scheme OVRs save me tons of time I would otherwise spend scrolling through ratings.Comment

Yeah, I hate this scheme crap, too! I remember last year when I started my Packers franchise, Rodgers overall would drop like 5 or 6 points! Errrr, because as we all know, Aaron's style of play just does not match the Packers' offensive scheme!!!! Garbage! After playing the season ticket, I decided to pass this year, nothing has been improved, almost appears we've taken a step backward. I'll stick with the glitchy, broken slider, mess of an NCAA game and hope for the best with next gen.Comment

Re: Why does the player's overall rating change when I start my career?
It could just be the ratings fluctuating from week to week during the preseason. Last year it wasa the same way until you started the regular season and then they would show their true ratings.
Not sure about this year though, I haven't made it out of the preseason yet. Kinda dumb for year one of a franchise after we know all the ratings already, but kinda cool down the road in franchise. It makes cutting players in the preseason a bit harder cause you don't know their true ratings until the season starts.Comment

What really ticks me right now is that if the players ratings change based on the schemes, why would players' ratings drop on the same team they've been playing on for years? I'm assuming that the coach schemes on default should reflect the way they play in real life.Comment
