Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
I am guessing they did not want to run into conflicts with NCAA and popular school team names so all of those are out, which is why we have what we have. I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a DLC in the works that allowed us to add more cities / teams / colors, etc. -
Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
They could at least give us the obvious: OKC Lightning or OKC TwistersNFL - Indianapolis Colts
NCAA (anything) - Indiana HoosiersComment

Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
I dunno. Lots of real team names are stupid if you think about it too long.
What's a seahawk? What's a bill? Are there jaguars in Jacksonville? Is there jazz in Utah? The nuggets, really? The wizards? The flyers? The ducks? The ducks who are mighty? The white socks? The red socks? The twins?
Some teams are named for something antiquated or completely unrelated to the city just because they thought it would look cool on the logo or they thought it had a nice ring to it.
Some teams are named on the basis of somebody saying, "Okay, what things do people associate with this city/state? Let's just make a list of those things and randomly name the team after one of them."
Some teams are just named on the basis of having a team name that begins with the same letter as the city name.
The thought process that led to the team names used in Madden is pretty much on par with the thought process that led to all real teams' names. I wouldn't get too hung up on it.Comment

Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
My opinion-- They added in the ability to relocate and upgrade stadium and a bunch that hasnt been there and was asked for. I understand the teams names arent to everyones liking (including my own on most of them) but hey... they at least have added it in. I'm happy.Comment

Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
Okay, given that there is already a team called the Seahawks, what do you think the odds are that there would ever be an expansion team called the Snowhawks? I'd put that at about 0.00000000001% +/- 0.00000000001%.I dunno. Lots of real team names are stupid if you think about it too long.

Some of the logos and color schemes are atrocious.
But the real issue is that they removed creative freedom from the user. That isn't a bad thing just because we lose creative freedom in and of itself, but also because a user could spend much more time thinking about it than a developer who is pressed for time with a million more important things to do. We could fix their errors, or improve their ideas. We could add things that are as or more realistic that they didn't have time to think about.
That's the huge mistake EA/Tiburon has made here.https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2049813056Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

Oh yeah! A team named the "Dream" really strikes fear into the hearts of the opponent. Sounds like a WNBA team name SMDH!!!!!

Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
Isn't it nice to hear the announcers say your actual team name over just a city? People complained for presentation advancements and that's a part of it. If they gave us the option to make our own names, I highly doubt the announcers would be able to say it. Granted, it should still be our option... but I think that's where they were heading with it.Okay, given that there is already a team called the Seahawks, what do you think the odds are that there would ever be an expansion team called the Snowhawks? Re: Relocation Team Names = WTF
Normal is lame.
I grew up on a town with Stallions, Wranglers, and Skeeters... YES... Skeeters.
Unique is better.

So I would be willing to bet you like... Lakers, Nixs, Spurs, Islanders, Stars, Saints, SEAHAWKS, Chargers, Crimson Tide (An Elephant mascot? I guess because there are so many elephants in Alabama), Horned Frogs, Beavers... on and on.
Hell, Chargers is on the level of Aftershock.Last edited by thbends; 08-28-2013, 03:28 PM.ALL THINGS DALLAS
