best way to manage IR players in franchise?

So, I am in the pre-season and need to cut some players. In real-life, there are 3-4 guys on IR but they are still on the team taking up valuable roster spots. Is there a good method to handle this? I don't want to release them and there doesn't appear to be an IR or practice squad to put them on. I cannot appear to make room for them anywhere and keep the real squads like in the real NFL.

In MLB the Show, I can manually assign an injury to a player and put him on the DL for 15 or 60 days. This allows me to simulate real life roster moves.

Any ideas for Madden 25?

im pretty sure if you go to the injury management screen yo can place them on the IR

In Madden '13, if you placed a player on I.R. who was only out for 3 weeks, after he was healthy, the game would freeze when you went into the depth chart during a game.

I have no idea if this bug has been fixed in Madden 25

I'm pretty sure putting a player on the IR in Madden is pointless, as it doesn't open a roster spot (It don't think Madden has ever done this correctly. They don't really care about the details)

This was fixed in Madden 12!

It opened up a roster spot.

Madden 13 had it right also, but had the IR bug I stated above.
