    Greatest duos who never were

Wrote a blog about Grant Hill and TMac; how we missed out a potential great duo. You can read it here on OS

    http://www.operationsports.com/NbaIn...1-just-missed/

Got me thinking about other all time almost twosomes that for whatever reason never got to see their potential developed.

A few come quickly to mind:

    Bernard King and Patrick Ewing

    Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning

    Stephon Marbury and Kevin Garnett

I'd love to hear some others....

    Greg Oden and Brandon Roy

This comes to my mind simply because Roy was one of my favorite players.

Penny and Shaq, Shaq left right after Penny's injuries, I believe, and they couldn't workout who was "the man"

Those mid 70's Knicks had tons of individual talent and never panned out. Could probably make a duo with 3 or 4 different guys.

        Jerry West and Elgin Baylor

        Stackhouse and Hill

        Houston and Sprewell

        Vince and T-Mac

        Iverson and Webber

        Iverson and Melo

        Carter and Kidd

        Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton

        Ming and T-Mac

Man, thinking about B. Roy and Oden makes me sad...they really had a chance to be special. They both had games that were throwbacks to the 70s and 80s. The smoothness of Roy, the paint dominance of Oden. Oden would be the best big man in the game right now.

Like people said...Oden-Roy would've been crazy to see.

VC-Tmac as well, could've been the best SF-SG duo in the NBA at the time.

VC-Bosh could've been another one too had VC stayed with Raptors. If Raptors had proper management, they should've had no problem building a team around a star big man in Bosh and a star SF in Carter.

Julius Erving signed with the Atlanta Hawks during the 72-73 season, however, he only managed to play two exhibition games in a Hawks uniform because of legal issues with the ABA, who blocked him from making the move to the NBA and forced him to return to the Virginia Squires. Just imagine him paired up with Pete Maravich.

Kobe and Shaq could qualify under the category of "Duos that never reached their full potential" The most Dominant Force in the NBA combined with the man many perceived as the Next MJ. 3 Titles is impressive but imagine what they could have accomplished if they acted like Adults instead of small children.

I didn't know about this actually. Pretty awesome, the two most exciting guys in that era.

If Lebron and Shaq were on the same team while they were I their prime.... wow
                            Also
                            Melo, Iverson
Tmac, Yao ( great duo but the time together was cut short)
