Rosters are an epic fail

Seriously, does EA Vancouver have any clue what they are doing in regards to rosters? Nikita Filatov is still in the Senator's line-up. This guy has not even been on the team since 2011!!!

It's mind-boggling to me that stuff like this is still in the game. It's actually turned me off of buying it somewhat. I know that seems a little over-the-top but I'm a details guy.

Anyone else notice other roster errors?

There is a very current, up to date, roster update available. Filatov is on the FA list.

One thing I noticed is that Markus Granlund and Joni Ortio are nowhere to be found, even though their Finnish League team is in the game, they are not on there, nor are they anywhere in the Flames system.

There will be a lot of them until their first roster update once the season begins.

If he's still there then, then goto the EA Sports forums and post it in the proper thread. Until then you should grasp with the fact that EA is VERY horrible at keeping their rosters up-to-date It won't change randomly all of a sudden!

It is sad though, considering I can watch one game or read an article on MLIVE and know exactly who is playing for my Red Wings and EA Sports has an entire department dedicated to this and can't get it right.

It's about time. Filatov was still in the line-up as of the final roster update for NHL 13.

That is rather odd. Perhaps they'll be added in an update?

Yeah I remember reading an article about all the work that goes into each update. I honestly don't see it. There are people in the community working all by themselves who do better rosters.

Madden gets a roster update every week! Now granted, that game has a much larger team and budget but still....

The roster update available for early release struck me as poorly done. Nathan Mackinnon and Seth Jones are both good prospects, although both could do with a bit more work but Aleksander Barkov is like 3 yellow stars, 59ish ovr and never amounts to anything. I wish they'd have done work on all the 1st round picks or at least the top 10.

EA will not update Maccinnon or Jones until they play their first games in the NHL, the NHLPA will not allow a player in the game to be placed on an active NHL line until after they play a full NHL regular season game. As far as Filatov he is playing in the KHL or somewhere else, however Ottawa still owns his rights in the US hence he shows on the roster.

Most of you're issues are legal and contractual issues less EA roster control.

There was an update as of 9/4 for pre-release, at least.

As far as Filatov he is playing in the KHL or somewhere else, however Ottawa still owns his rights in the US hence he shows on the roster.

It's one thing to have him on the roster but in the final NHL 13 final update he was still on the Sens and he was dressed! He wasn't even on the farm team or scratched. Don't know what his status was in this game before he was dropped to the FA list.

User rosters ALWAYS trump company rosters....so I don't know what the surprise is here. It's the same in every sports game year in and year out.

The only thing I don't like about user rosters is when they mess with player attributes, (when possible).

Well you kinda have to when using EA's rosters. When they have Nathan Mackinnon a 64 and Chara a 94 they need an infusion of common sense.
When you can't blow by Chara with Kane in the demo you know there is an issue.....

Like there always is.

Everyone just needs to keep in mind that any player with a two-way or non-pro guaranteed contract, has to play one game AT LEAST this season in the AHL or NHL before they are legally allowed for them to be added/set on a team.

MacKinnon or Jones don't have to be on their NHL teams, but their ratings should be good enough, or on the cus of being good enough to be put on there by the user. MacKinnon is a 64 and is not worth putting on the roster as is. Now, of course a quick edit changes that so it dosn't really bother me.
