I am playing an online CFM with my buddy. Can we clear cap penalties?

You are supposed to be able to clear cap penalties under the 'user teams' section of the League Settings. Although every time I have tried, it does not save the cap wipe and nothing happens. Hopefully this is fixed with the incoming patch.

Til the remaining years of the contract expire. Releasing a player with 4 yrs left and a 2 mil penalty stays for the remaining years.

Actually the cap penalty is split across 2years. Current year and the next year

Correct. If there is no signing bonus, there is no penalty.

For this reason it is a good tactic to resign at the end of the year (provided you have the room) some of your back-ups (low OVR) to a couple/three years w/ no signing bonus in cases where you're not sure if you're going to find a better replacement in draft, or preseason free agency.

That way you can cut them if you don't need them without accruing penalties.

I often do this, especially when rebuilding, you often have extra cap space anyway, and I find it more useful to just use up some of that money by paying my players with a higher salary, and taking away their bonus money.

this is especially important when you move. really its best to just avoid penalties, if you don't plan to keep a guy, don't hand him bonus money, he better be worth it If you do. I had a choice, do I keep my 2nd year 81 overall center for 4 years 10 mil where he wants like 250k in bonus, or do I just draft his replacement in the top of the third rd? I saved a lot of money, and helped my entire franchise by just taking his replacement in rd 3.

how does salary cap penality work?
i trade/ cut a player who has 3 yrs contract remaining ( he was scheduled to be payed 5 mil per yrs with 7 mil bonus money)
and i lost salary cap space too much
now im afraid to cut or trade a player
