Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
For those of us who are still trying to come to grips with the changes in FIFA 14(me included) I've just found this blog by journalist Darren Cross with several helpful tips. Here it is:

Orion, I get confused about which direction to dial in the sliders. For the Run Frequency slider, if you want more runs do you dial it in left or right (higher number or lower number)?Using the contextual dribbling and LT I was able to wiggle Messi free from three defenders who were bearing down on him before finally getting off a pass, he's easily the best player in the demo.
Although I'm admittedly still making bad mistakes, and a lot of them I'm finally starting to get it together. The game forces you to build up from the back, using your whole team, slowly, pass after pass. You can almost feel the momentum starting to build as you move closer to goal. Once in the final third(where most of my mistakes are made) it's a whole new ballgame. Gone are the days of slashing past the fullback into the area then shooting. You have to be much more crafty, quick passes, crosses are huge, especially when you have a squad like PSG with Ibra and Cavani. Getting off a shot actually feels like an accomplishment, just as it should.
Gone also, thankfully is the CPU's tendency to get upfield as quickly as possible then fire. They finally realize the value of possession, and will attempt to force you into mistakes by frustrating you. Play in the middle third of the pitch is also better than it's ever been, mainly because it's finally dangerous to make a risky pass, getting caught flat footed on a counter will result in concession, and the same holds true the other way, a key intercept in midfield finally results in dangerous breaks your way as well. All in all I'm more and more impressed with each game, and I applaud EA for finally, finally making a more tactical game.
Slider wise if anyone is interested I've been slowly building a bit of a base to start with come release. Right now I have this:
Speed: Slow
Sprint: 49/49
Acc: 49/49
Pass speed: 51/51
Shot speed: 50/50
Pass error: 52/61
shot error: 50/50
injuries, keepers, run freq, all 50/50
Marking: 67/67
Height 51/51
Length: 44/44
Width 48/48
FB's 53/53
First touch: 52/55
I didn't much mess with the speed due to the short games, still though it feels pretty good there.
Same with First Touch Control Error. It seems the larger the number the more error, but when you read the discription, it has increase on the left and reduce on the right. Seems backassward but maybe I'm the nimrod, lol.
Thanks

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
These words describe a lot that I wanted to in my review.i keep playing the demo, and the more i play, more i like it. seems like "movement" is the key word here. it may sound radical, but for me, its a new way to play the game. you have to consider momentum and physics, and if you watch the defenders movements, you can gain some advantage, you can beat the defender without using a single skill move. just force the defender to go to the direction you want, and when he starts moving, go to the other side, as he can't magically defy phyisics anymore and turn around like crazy and catch you.
that's how i feel after playing the demo for a good chunk of hours: i have to change my mentality to play this game. i really have to forget how i played untill today, having to ignore physics and momentum (obviously due to the games lacking these factors). now i can play with the mindset i played back in 2002 or so, but i got frustrated cause the game was not responding properly, it felt arcadey and robotic.
finally, EA heard us.
Additionally, I'm really hopeful that I can get a nice variety of play styles with a combination of tactics and formations for CPU teams to have a fun career run.
Online play will be improved against the manual people. Against assisted opponents, some things may get really frustrating and some things might work in favor of manual ability vs them not being able to send some precise balls to places that would cripple your defenders. I think Orion might understand what I'm talking about.
I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but I was also happy that my finger was off the sprint trigger soo so much, that's like a great improvement for the game. You don't sprint all game long in real life. You sprint more for the ball than with the ball, which I think sprint will be used more for in 14. You won't be sprinting towards defenders with the ball anymore (which you wouldn't in real), you will have less control over the ball and unless you picked a great direction that's off the defender's momentum, he will pick that ball away from you.
Can't wait for the release. It's hard to play 13 after the demo

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
I've seen more fouls in this demo than in one year playing fifa 13, and i'm not kidding. The CPU got red carded (Pedro) for a tackle from behind, before the 10 minute mark. You now can draw fouls against the cpu, it's just a matter of how you use momentum + protect the ball.On the subject of fouls, it depends on how you play as to how many you see.
In general nearly all the fouls have been penalised, even if there aren't loads of them. I can't stand games where the CPU commits a lot of fouls but the red doesn't blow for them.
I've seen a few yellow cards so far and a fair few free kicks in the right situations - I'm pretty happy with it so far.
@hedache Man, with this new way to play, and strenght playing a major role in the game, i can see your Galatassaray being even more lethal than ever. Especially because of Drogba...Last edited by razorkaos; 09-15-2013, 12:39 AM.PSN ID/Street Fighter V Fighter ID: razorkaosComment

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
I like the Demo a lot...I first try PS3 and then PC (I've a really nice new rig). I downloaded Moddingway patches 2.0 to unlock some more teams and play few games:
Pros:
Fifa is still the more complete football package on the market (kits, weather, teams, licenses)
The game speed is right on normal
I saw fouls been called
Different teams have different styles (I need to test it more in the final build...)
Great animations
Great commentary
Cons:
Shooting & Crossing is still something that doesn't impress me
Ball physics too and player collisions physics system is a mixed bag
Hate sound effects (ball touch, ball/goal post collision)
So i think it will be' day one buy for me on PC...
wish that both basketball and american football has the same scenario: two great titles two play with like soccer gaming

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
I need to stop playing this demo. The short games are forcing me to attack the opposing team instead of trying to move the ball around and set things up. I hate playing that way. Friday cannot come soon enough. Having season ticket is so great for being able to decide on buying a game.
On a different note, I am in the process of buying my games for PS3 instead of XBOX because I am using my brothers XBOX (which I will return at some point) and will be purchasing a PS4 over the XBOX one. I don't want to keep buying games for a system I won't have because I don't want to spend the $100 to repair my XBOX. Anyway does anyone know of a good XBOX style controller for the PS3? I like the XBOX controller way better and would like to find a good 3rd party controller that I can use for PS3.Last edited by bwiggy33; 09-15-2013, 08:03 PM.NHL-Minnesota Wild

I can not post the video here cause im using the xbox's browser to navigate, but, i recommend you to go on youtube, and search for CGR Undertow - SC-1 wireless sports controller. It is like a mix of the DS3 and the XBOX 360 controller. And after reading the comments, i think they are not expensive, so it may be a good deal.I need to stop playing this demo. Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
I had bought some sort of usb converter for my wired xbox controller back in the day and it worked. This is old stuff though, like for FIFA 11 or 12. I'm sure there are wireless options at this point.
In terms of the demo, I don't think about the score or the time. I just play the 3 minute halves as part of a longer game. Play like it's 6 minutes of a 16 minute game. Be patient, just enjoy the demo and see what you got for the new game.
With sliders, this game is looking really promising. I don't know what people are talking about CPU not being variable on attack. I've been scored on in different nice ways. I think even vs CPU play will be entertaining for at least 4-5 seasons in career.
I'm starting to get the hang of dribbling options, and I'm enjoying what's coming. Even the biggest bother of all times that is high pressure may not bother me if the physics stick around. It will be realistic, if there is high pressure, don't risk, clear it and try to win it the same way. With the new dribbling and ball control, no more barca style coming out of defense with risky crisp passes with low quality center backs. You'll have to get out of the zone a lot safer, hopefully.
I mixed up mine and Orion's sliders and play a bunch of games with the below settings, I enjoyed it.
World Class, Slow speed, all manual controls
USER/CPU
Sprint: 49/49
Acceleration: 49/49
Pass Error: 50/55
Marking: 67/67
Run Frequency: 60/60
Line HLW: 60-40-45
Full Back Pos: 80/80
First Touch Error: 51/56

Re: FIFA 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (360, PS3)
I'm not used to this sort of community. I never ever change the sliders, only tinker with the user controls. I'll def have to look into it this year. This game plays completely different from older FIFA's. Def need to think a lot more and create rather than just do some quick lob thru pass that has worked in recent games. Gonna take some getting used to with how this game handles, especially on defense. Can't just bring over a second computer to help defend and trap and get back on the attack. Still contemplating on if I wanna get it since I just bought Madden, but I will be getting it at some point.PSN: pastor_glidds
