Re: NBA 2K14 Gameplay Developer Insight (Video)
Good video. This is like a high level overall what we improved, and I like it. The details are in the gameplay like playbook, AI. I think they need an insight on:
- Playbook
- Controls
- Association
- My team
- Crews
- Online Association
- Presentation
- Accessories

Really 2k! We fixed this, We added that. The truth is that 2k had no comp since 2k11 and they took a long vacation. Now they have to compete against themselves due to next gen coming and the reemergence of Live. They are trying to patch a game with crap the game should've had 2 years ago or fix with a patch or two. No one should be giddy about the changes, If anything we should be pissed for being screwed over like this. I will be gameflying this one first.

Y'all, as I said in my impressions... the feel of the game is solid. I know 2K has been using balanced, but for me solid fits better, why? Well I think its because when you play defense you have the ability to stop the offensive player with your body giving that solid feeling which occurs from that balancing the DEVs did.
While w/ 13 you felt you were playing with dice when trying to create/get contact w/ a defensive player, not so in 14... I definitely had the ability to make contact even if just by being in the way.
Dribbling thru traffic usually ended up with either a poke, steal or just losing the ball.
Dunking in traffic... as said, I only saw a couple in halfcourt settings... again cause that D was there. Expect the feeling of having to fight to score against a good defensive team.
Jay I always dig your feedback on 2k. Thanks for providing the info you have. I actually hope the game is more balanced than it is solid. Why? Because I don't want to be working well crafted pnr plays or post plays only to be shut down by some kid online spamming the block or steal button.
It is important to make defense more effective, but the truth about basketball is that the perfect offense will beat the perfect defense every time. Or better put...there is no defense for the perfect offense.
I want 2k to reward the smarter, more fundamental user. Not tune the gameplay to give a pre packaged advantage to either the offense or defense. Frankly that's what i want from all sports games. MLB the show does that the best. 2k does a moderate job and EA sports is notoriously awful at creating balanced sports sims.
Here is hoping 2k 14 is more "the show" than " madden".Comment

Re: NBA 2K14 Gameplay Developer Insight (Video)
THIS is how the developer insights should look like! All of them!
This was more like the old written insights used to be, but in video form, which is way more informative and hypes me up for the game even more! What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Nice video! Really liked how they talked about the contact inside and defense, that was my main complain for 2k13 gameplay, hopefully thats the return of the defenseComment

GOOD VID by 2K, WE know it lack of info, but it is coming now, with 12 days left, for the new game, The game is looking good, DEFENSE was the main issue in 2k13, offense was easy , especially in the paint, Like @JWILL55 said , It is gonna be fun this yr ONLINE, especially in OA, Looking foward to it, IF they have CLASSICS, as u can play randoms, ALL IS GOODFollow Big Kev @BigKev_np on Twitter

Damn. I gotta get more time with 13, still. Just got my fixed PS3 back less than 2 weeks ago after almost a year of it being shutdown and only played a smidge of it that night. Still love it and won't trade it in but now that I can't stop playing GTA V and 14 on preorder, not far off, this is gunna be tough. I'm just a little concerned about the new pro stick, tho, which is apart of y I'm hanging on to 13. Will see...EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

TBH I didn't see it once while playing or watching any else playing. TBH again, I also didn't try to do it either. But hopefully its been toned down, which I am pretty sure that it has been. I wish it would be taken out for 1-3 spots and only left for the bigs, but then Magic wouldn't be able to do it. Exceptions would have to be made for him though."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

I just hope that MyCareer has more stuff to do after the first 2-3 years finish. Gets boring when you're a great player, but don't get any endorsements or anything after awhile."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: NBA 2K14 Gameplay Developer Insight (Video)
Don't want to drink the kool aid yet (as I see an ad for kool-aid appear on the page as I'm writing this...), but a lot of the issues I had with 2k13 were things that you really couldn't "see" but you could feel. So even though the the Dev Insight was pretty light on content, I'm actually optimistic about what they had to say.
Glad to hear. This should always be the precedent.Last edited by iLLosophy; 09-18-2013, 09:24 PM.Comment

The game has a better feel to it that you can only appreciate by getting your hands 'dirty'."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment
