    Ball hawk and heat seeker

Can someone explain what these two features do? I make tackles and user pick with no problem.

Ball hawk: hold Y to get into position for deflect/pass

Heat speaker: hold A to make a bee line to the ball carrier.

I think you activate heat seeker by holding the tackle button. Good luck playing without it, it's pretty tough

Re: Ball hawk and heat seeker

I am resurrecting this thread because for some reason I can reply but not create a new thread.

        PS3. Franchise/offline/coach-mode/Rams(Fisher)

I would love some info on Heat-seeker function. Some guidance on what exactly it's used for, or how it helps, when to use it, and how do I know it's working as intended???

Typically I tackle by moving towards ball carrier, and colliding, or tapping Square to take the feet out. I use the hit stick frequently if I'm moving directly towards or from the side of the ball-carrier.

Any helpful hints, and tips would be appreciated. I figured out ballhawk last year, but proper use of this one is evading me.

        Thanks.

Uh I think your wrong if you are talking about 360 controls

Y = Ball Hawk...which will allow your defensive player to go for the interception if they are in position...The swat is one of the bumpers, RB or LB, can't remember which one.

X = Heat Seeker ...You can use this feature by pressing and holding down X when you are close enough to the player to make a tackle

"A" on the 360 is for CPU (Defensive) Assist which can assist in pursuit and tackling and even coverage. Hold "A" and the CPU will literally control your player based on the player's abilities and ratings (pursuit, tackling, etc

And defensive assist has nothing to do with heat seeker. You hold in X on 360, square on ps3 to activate heat seeker.

Re: Ball hawk and heat seeker

Ball Hawk: [triangle ps3/Y 360] If button is held while the ball is in the air and the defender is in position he will make a play for the interception. It is a higher chance then just a regular int attempt.

Heat Seeker: [square ps3/X 360] If button is held it will put the player in line to make a high percentage wrap up tackle. It also makes the pursuit angle better for a tackle.

Now my question is what does switch assist do exactly. That I can't find info on anywhere.

Also chances are if you are playing on CFM none of these are active as there is a bug that turns these off during franchise games no matter what you do to try to turn them on. Hopefully they fix this in a patch soon.

                      .
Excuse me for the noob like questions - but I'm still trying to figure it all out.

                      So am I (using PS3)

                      1.
                      2. then holding down SQUARE and it will automatically move my guy to the ball-carrier?

                      or

skip 1 and go straight to 2.

                      or

1.selecting the nearest defender (pushing CIRCLE)
                      2. Move defender near/on-top of ball-carrier and then press and hold SQUARE?

Essentially how does it work? What do I have to do to make it work?

So is heat seeker or ball hawk commonly used? I started a franchise and it's default off, making me think it is an assist or something not needed. But if everyone uses it in online then I may as we'll turn it on so I can play like everyone else.

This, your player has to be near the ball carrier otherwise he will just do a dive tackle after a second.

Both were meant to be turned on, it's one of the reasons defense is so atrocious when it comes to playing the ball (at least on all-Madden, all-pro is to easy for me so I haven't tried it this year).

However as I stated in my last post, it is impossible to turn these on the CFM mode. Unless they patch it, there is a bug that even if turned on, they automatically get turned off whenever you start a franchise game or practice. To know that, all you have to do is start a franchise game or practice, go to settings, go to game options, go down to ball hawk (and the other two) and you will see they are off. Turn them on, back out of game options, go back into game options and it will say OFF again.

This is killing the game for me in our online franchise. Guys are averaging 8 yards a carry because how overpowered the juke moves are without being able to heat seak. How is it possible that this gets through the testing? Do they not even test franchise play?
