The Coaching Career of Nick Lincoln (NCAA 14)

    MLive.com:
Reports are that Dan Enos, the Head Coach from Central Michigan University, has been fired. Coach Enos had a 13-24 record in three years of coaching in Mount Pleasant. It seems as though Athletic Director Dave Heeke wasn't happy with just 13 wins in 3 years. "We felt like we needed a change of culture here in Mount Pleasant from a football standpoint," AD Heeke said in a press conference.

Rumors are that the Offensive Coordinator from Grand Valley State University will assume the Head Coaching duties for the Chippewa's. Coach Nick Lincoln was not available for comments, but his high octane offense speaks for itself.
Last year the Lakers offense averaged 54.2 points per game and averaged a play every 24.5 seconds. This style of offense was perfected by Coach Lincoln's mentor Chip Kelly, but Coach Lincoln's offense has a few new wrinkles that Coach Kelly did not implement, such as a few Pistol packages that throw defenses off their guard.

Presumed starting Quarterback Cody Kater stated that, "It'll be fun playing in an offense like this! It will allow me to use my feet to keep defenses off guard like when I was playing High School football in Montague, and we won back to back state titles!"

Hopefully Coach Lincoln can continue this explosive offense at the Division 1 level and make this Central Michigan Chippewas team a must see for any college football fan!

Re: The Coaching Career of Nick Lincoln (NCAA 14)

            MLive.com:
High Octane? Coach Lincoln's offense averaged a play once every 10.5 seconds, yes 10.5 seconds. The Chippewa's offense ran 101 plays in 17 minutes and 38 seconds. Averaging about 6.1 yards per play, the Chippewa's offense did not disappoint.

Quarterback Cody Kater had a very successful day, throwing for 386 yards and running for 104. The usually stout Spartan defense allowed the Junior to show off his skills. "Cody played very well, despite facing a very stingy defense," Coach Lincoln said during the post game press conference.

"Our offense performed well, but not well enough to win. On the opposite side, our defense played very poorly," Coach Lincoln answered, "The Spartans offense was very productive and opportunistic against our defense that was not communicating with each other."

When asked about how the 3 overtime periods helped boost his offense's numbers, Coach Lincoln answered, "It's part of the game, our offense seemed to thrive under the pressure of overtime. Yes it may have inflated our numbers but if our offense can produce for 4 quarters like it did in 3 overtime periods than our numbers will be much in the same."

Coach Lincoln and the Chippewa's need to focus on defense and try stop the opponent from moving the ball at will, but the offense looks to be able to keep the team in games and continue to excite the CMU campus and reporters around the Mid American Conference.

Next week the Chippewa's welcome San Jose State into Kelly/Shorts Stadium and hope to take advantage of the SJSU Spartans' porous defense.

Re: The Coaching Career of Nick Lincoln (NCAA 14)

                    MLive.com:

Coach Lincoln's offense was at it again, running 88 plays and controlling the ball for 16 minutes and 1 second. An average of 1 play every 10.92 seconds. If not for quarterback Cody Kater throwing 3 interceptions the Chippewa's offense would have put more points on the board (assumably). 47 points is nothing to be disappointed about on offense, but allowing 44 points on defense is again one of the negatives to take away from this game.

Defensive Coordinator Joe Trumpkin was quoted saying, "we just need to perform better in the red zone, holding team to field goals instead of touchdowns. We need to limit big plays and continue to take advantage of turnovers."

Central Michigan will now travel to Henderson, Nevada to wage war with the UNLV Rebels inside the Sam Boyd Stadium. For the first time this season, the Chippewa's are favored to win this game!
