Take a look at the summer games between the best European teams and NBA teams, almost every game finishes very close, European teams win quite a few games as well.

Would their players be highly rated in the NBA? Most of them wouldn't, for sure. But in the system they play and in the "European basketball style" they are great players and should be rated accordingly.

And the Euroleague teams aren't for anything else than exhibition in 2k, so it doesn't really matter, does it?

I was wondering about the ratings.

I think 2K rated the FIBA/European teams in their current NBA-style-rating. So it's easily comparable for player A from a Euro team to compare to player B from an actual NBA team.

Imho, these Euro players should be rated higher in their own system/class. Like you said, Spain (even with the Gasol brothers, Ibaka) matches up well against a stacked Team USA.

And the efforted era-specific presentation applied to the game didn't mean much in most people's eyes. The hardcore chastised them because they wanted more, the younger/more casual gamers could care less about the Legends (even more modern legends like Jordan). 2K adds the Dream Team for 2K13 and again is chastised more for what they didn't do versus what they did do.

Now everyone wants competition. Yet no one places these same expectations on the competition. Just the presence of additional competition is going to mean lower revenues for the 2K brand, so why continue putting in a lot of effort/money on something so few seem to appreciate? Or perhaps take for granted? Considering it's not expected of other sports developers (granted it's probably easier to do in team sports with smaller rosters). I suspect if 2K went to a DLC model people would flip out because "they used to get it for free". Given those factors one has to wonder if the juice is worth the squeezing. I'd say it is, but the general vocal consensus is it isn't.

That said, I'd love to see more content/attention given to the Legend content. But I understand why more effort wouldn't be placed into expanding the feature. I'm surprised they lasted beyond 3yrs myself.
I feel exactly as you do. All these people are lucky even to get a few classic teams. All one has to do is look at Madden, look no further, no competition, no effort at all to broaden the scope of the game. 2K has brought an array of things that people take for granted. Nba Live is now the savior? they haven't even seen any gameplay or presentation and they claim they're switching and I absolutely believe it may not contain legends.

The level of ignorance and stupidity that 2K has risen to is sickening. Please everyone, buy NBA Live if you want 2K's wretched monopoly of the basketball video game industry to end

lol so you not going to buy a game just cus one guy rated a 73? Do you see the games between Euroleague teams vs NBA teams sometimes the Euroleague teams win they beat the Lakers the championship team a few years back. I am honestly happy some guys were rated a 80s I be even more happyer if some guys were rated in the 90s overseas is a great place for NBA to get there talent from tons of great NBA stars came from there any of though teams can beat any NBA teams

While I'm disappointed 2k didn't add new teams and they took out the Dream Teams, gameplay is still improved. I'm not from the school of thought where my expectations for one $60 game far exceeds my expectations for another, so whoever offers the better package for next gen will get my day one purchase. I do think it's ridiculous to say things like "they don't have Dr. J, I'm buying NBA Live", gameplay unseen. That's like saying they don't have my Benz in black, only green, so I'm buying the next car that goes down the street regardless of what it is. Chances are it won't be an upgrade on what you've passed on.

If that is all you care about it seems 2k12 would be the most logical game for you forever as I believe al of those guys were on that edition. I know the first two were at least.

Buddy, those guys don't want to be in the game otherwise they would have agreed to be in 2K13-2K14. The Kings were removed completely since Webber, the best player on the team and only all-star, was missing for a second year in a row.

The Dream Team and team USA were a one-year special item and people need to realize that. Maybe they'll bring it back in the future during the next Olympic games or even better a spin-off game (or DLC).

Reggie Miller doesn't want to agree to a likeness deal, like Barkley before him, so why include any version of the Indiana Pacers from his career? People need to realize that historical teams have been a luxury, mostly due to Jordan and the retired players association, not a necessity like many believe or feel.

True, at times it seems some folks may be latently suggesting that 2K is somehow just forgetting to add players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the '87 Lakers, as if it were an oversight of some kind. It seems to be pretty reliably well documented that all the NBA legends you mentioned have opted not to allow their likenesses to be used by 2K these days. My guess is some relented for 2K12 because the game's primary cover feature almost entirely revolved around them.

Classic teams are indeed a luxury, but I certainly hope that luxury remains and is perhaps further expanded upon in the future (classic '00's teams largely made up of active players seems like a realistic start). I feel the history of the game shall always deserve recognition in the virtual arena. If nothing else, I'd like to see the gap close between historic teams that are provided and the ability for users to fill in the blanks and complete their own (via better create-a-player, create-a-team, logo selections, court editing, and a full range of retro jerseys).

so were the Dream Team, Team USA, and Celeb teams were replaced by Euroleague, or something else? cause that is how the VC, 2K Sports, and that other 2K-related team were replaced, but how/what replaced them.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

At least Scottie still there. I thought he would be gone since Jay-Z had to beg him to be in last year's version with the Dream Team. I only really play with the teams during the Magic/Bird/Jordan era. Don't mind the Kings not being there if Webber is not there. They should use the same rule for the Dr. J Sixers but they are still in for some reason. I would understand if it was the 82-83 Sixers that won the championship with Moses but its the 84-85 Sixers. No problem with Run TMC or the Hornets, still popular teams to this day but I don't know why the Nuggets are still in, great story when they beat the Sonics, but they weren't that popular imo. The Laker teams still have Magic, so no Kareem doesn't automatically knock them out.

IMO, the Bucks, Dr. J Sixers, & the Nuggets should have been replaced. One team should have been the twin tower Houston Rocket team with Ralph Sampson & young Akeem that beat the lakers one year to get to the finals. Replace that rookie Kobe/Shaq Laker team with the 2001 team that went 15-1. Already got AI's Sixer team to go with them.

Not sure whats the fascination with those Vince Carter/Tracy McGrady early 2000's teams that did not accomplish anything of note especially McGrady who never got out of the first round. Those teams were not classic nor legendary nor really good at all. Maybe the 01 Raptor team that took AI to 7 games in the Semi-Finals but thats it. But i guess the same could be said for the 92-93 Hornets/Run TMC Warrior teams also...
