No reason at all to buy madden next year then. I only get NCAA to have real rookies go into madden. If I cant have that then I'll pass. I gave madden 13 a try with the fake rookies and I hated it. No NCAA, then no need for madden. No reason to buy madden, then no reason to get a next gen console (ps4) as most games I want have been announced on pc as well

Fair enough, but is there actually a precedent that says they couldn't sue for that? If not I wouldn't be that surprised to see them try. If there is then it's obvious not going to happen.

You have to understand how the legal system works. Anybody can sue anybody for anything but thats not the point. I could sue you because I dont like your username and the fact that I feel this way makes sick. I could walk right down the street and file a complaint arguing intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Would I win? No. Would it get past a motion to dismiss? No. Would you have to spend a lot of money to defend this case? No. Would the attorney (or me since I'm a lawyer) risk getting disbarred for filing a frivolous lawsuit? Yes.

Thats the point. Obannon can sue but he needs a legitimate cause of action to get anything (a settlement or a verdict in his favor) and he doesnt have a legit COA with the TV networks.

Who cares about all the lawsuit talk, none of you know the facts... I jsut want to know how many people here have been complaining for the last 2 months and saying im not buying this game next year blah blah blah and now its gone and its man im so sad im going to miss complaining on OS about this game. Just like a ex girlfriend. Personally, im going to miss it

they'll have a tough time against the tv people. This isn't just 1 company like EA, they'd be going up against ESPN/ABC (Disney) + CBS + FOX + others and those companies can certainly pony up the money and take the time to make sure they win that lawsuit.

Any sort legal action would likely be taken against the schools, conferences, and/or the NCAA. The networks don't really have any direct relationship with the players, so it'd be a bit of a stretch to go after them.

It's sad how greed is the real reason why this is being shut down.

O'Bannon, the lawyers, and anyone else involved in the lawsuits can take a flying leap.

So EA wasn't greedy for making a game using player likeness and not giving the players anything? Umm interesting.

You're right, and I'm not arguing that such a case would have any merit at all, but as I said in my edit, assuming he won against the NCAA he might take leave of his senses and go after the TV networks.

So, I am guessing EA will also probably shut down the roster sharing support at some time, as well.

I think with the USB memory though, we would be able to save rosters to the USB and share them with dropbox or something like that, though?

Why would they do that? Its our rosters. We can do whatever we damn well please with them.

As an avid NCAA'er this is pretty terrible news. I enjoy my roster project quite a bit, and honestly without an NCAA football game I don't really have a reason to own a game console anymore. It sucks for me, but I guess I'm 31 now and might have to give up my one guilty pleasure. I still feel like the last gen on NCAA's were better games overall in terms of gameplay. I will miss this series. Been buying NCAA since 2000 on PS1. I guess now I will have time to go in depth with my old 2006 historic roster. Sucks to be forced to give up a fun hobby like this.

Not really, because they're hosted by EA. Taking them down could also be part of the settlement.

Right before we got the four-team playoff, too...

I wish they would patch that in. Knowing EA, that's wishful thinking...........

I know...the lack of playoff is why I didn't get the game this year...now I dont know...2015 is earliest for the next game

Because they really can't make any money off of it anymore they would just shut down the equipment and save the operating cost.

Right before the new playoffs and new systems... great. So dumb. All because of "player likeness". A video game doesnt effect how i think of a player.
