Re: How is your dynasty going

And this is why I love this game (and yes, I just recently bought it so it's still fresh to me). Coming off a 48-14 beat down of Houston at home to improve to 4-1, I go to Louisiana-Monroe and lose a 31-29 heartbreaker. Thought I was going to roll this season to an 11-1 or 10-2 record (only real toss-up game in Sun Belt would be Louisiana-Lafayette) but I got caught napping and lost to someone I didn't expect.

Granted it's a coaching dynasty so I can't play defense, but my offense wasn't as good as they normally are. I scored 7 points off a pun-return for a TD and got another easy 7 after my defense picked off a pass and I started a drive on ULM's 12 yard line.

It was a great game, too. And remember, anything defense or special teams related is simmed.

I had just kicked a FG to go up 16-10 with about 4:00 to go in the 3rd quarter and on the next series my defense forced a 3 and out, and my special teams returned a punt to make it 23-10 with about 3:00 to go in the third quarter. Neither team did anything the rest of the quarter, but my defense got the interception return to the ULM 12 yard line early in the 4th...about 7:00 to go (I play 9 minute quarters). I scored in two plays later and had a 29-10 (kicker missed the XP) lead with 6:30 to go.

Then the wheels fell off. ULM quickly retaliated with a TD drive to make it 30-17 and got a pick-six to make it 29-24 with 2:35 to go. I tried to run out the clock and make ULM use all their timeouts but all three of my runs went for no gain or just one or two yards, and ULM go the ball back with more than 2:00 remaining. They put together a clock-eating drive and scored the go ahead TD with 0:05 left, and ultimately won 31-29.

Coming off a 70% completion, 450 yard, 4 TD game against Houston my QB was awful. Completing just 12 of 29 passes for 148 yards, 0 TD, and 2 INT. My line did a terrible job blocking, too, as my QB was sacked 7 times.

My only gripe with the super-simming aspect of coaching dynasty (where you're the OC) is not being able to kick extra points. I've got a sophomore kicker who's a 78 OVR. His kick power is only a 71 but his accuracy is 86, but he's already missed 3 extra points 6 games into the season.

Beat LSU 24-21 in the snowy game that was close the entire time. Was on the edge of my seat the whole game...crazy! Even though there record was terrible to beat an SEC team is a huge confidence boost going into next season. We finished the year 12-2(8-1).

Jordan Parker was named MTSU player of the year, leading the NCAA in rushing.

          273 carries 1783 yards 17 TD
          11 receptions 74 yards 2 TD

Texas A&M beat Wisconsin 30-23 to win the National Championship

          We finished ranked 23rd!

Re: How is your dynasty going

Just finished up year 3 of my coaching/UCA dynasty. A little upset because my head coach (Clint Conque) took a job at Louisville. I was hoping UCA would offer me the head coaching job, but we went with NC State defensive coordinator Dave Huxtable instead.

Anyway, we went 10-3 and lost in the Orange Bowl to Clemson, 38-31. Was a real naibiter/hearbreaker. We went back and forth most of the game and I thought I was in position to win. It was a tie game, 31-31, and I had the ball in Clemson territory with a little over 1:00 to go. Completed a pass on a curl route down to the Clemson 17 yard line with 0:45 to go, and followed that up with two straight runs for a total of five yards. On 3rd down I ran it again to center the ball for the game winning FG and...boom, my RB gets leveled, fumbles, and Clemson picks it up and returns it for a TD. Game over, Clemson wins 38-31. Almost rage quit because I tried talking myself into the "the computer cheated me" argument. But, at the same time, I was foolish to try and run one more play on 3rd down instead of just kicking the FG.

Still, had a great season and my true sophomore QB finished 3rd in the Heisman voting. And I finished the season ranked #21.

            Here's some quick stats:

QB Chris Jones, SO: 319/489, 4,763 yards, 44 TD, 10 INT, 172.7 rating

            HB Danzel Williams, JR(RS): 249 carries, 1,128 yards, 4.5 ypc, 12 TD, 34 receptions, 500 yards, 14.7 ypc, 2 TD

            WR Connor Whitehead, SR(RS): 107 receptions, 1,597 yards, 14.9 ypc, 15 TD

My offense was nearly unstoppable. Even in the three losses, I scored 30+ points in two of them.

Want to say next year could be "my year" but I'm losing my top two receivers and four of my five starters on the offensive line are graduating. I have recruited a few good offensive linemen who should fill in nicely, but I'm losing a JUCO OT I recruited in year one that had progressed to an 86 OVR by his senior year.

Landed my highest ranked recruiting class (56th) while also landing three 4-star recruits and 11 3-star recruits. Finally making some headway in attracting higher ranked/better recruits.

I got offered a few head coaching jobs at schools like UNLV, Fresno State, and Louisiana-Monroe after the season, but my original plan was to stay at UCA the entirety of my four year contract unless I got offered a HC job at a BCS conference school. I'm up to a level 14 OC, so I should get offered some solid HC jobs from some BCS/AQ conference schools next year.

Re: How is your dynasty going

So I have a dilemma. My Green Wave team has opened the 2014 season with 3 tough opponents: @ Southern Miss, #1 LSU at home, and @ BYU. While we played tough in all contests, we're 0-3 to stat the year.

Here's the deal: every single game we played was close. On the one hand, I'm not completely disappointed in my team's play because the offense is finally starting to click in Year 3, and for once my defense is actually KEEPING us in games. But on the other hand, we are 0-3. Here are the 3 games' results:

              @ Southern Miss: L 22-27
              vs. #1 LSU: L 23-28 (shocker!)
              @ BYU: L 21-24 (heartbreaking defeat...)

We've lost all games by a combined 13 pts.

I kinda feel confident that my team is right on the cusp of ripping off a bunch of wins. After all, we easily could be 3-0 right now. But I don't like 0-3, and we have SMU at home this week before the bye.

                    BEARS WALK THE PLANK

In a nightmarish start to the season, the Missouri State Bears were blown out by the ECU Pirates, 31-6. True Freshman QB Cole Pearmen had a horrible day as he completed just 11 passes out of 29 attempts, including 5 interceptions and 1 fumble. He did not throw for any touchdowns. ECU's offense was nearly unstoppable through the air aside from 5 sacks and 3 interceptions by the Bears defense.

ECU Senior QB Marques Baker had a great game as he completed 18 passes of 26 attempts for 320 yards and 2 TDs. Halfback Omarr Harrison ran for just 25 yards but scored 2 TDs. WR Luke Randolph and WR Eric Murphy were running circles around the Bears defense. Randolph finished with 6 receptions for 162 yards and 1 TD, while the 6'3 230lb Murphy caught 5 for 84 yards and 1 TD. He had to leave in the 3rd quarter with a Pectoral injury and he is out for 3 weeks, which could be a big loss for ECU. CB Brad Montoya had 2 INTs.

The Bears offense struggled through the air and on the ground. HB Matt Young started strong with some really nice runs where he was trucking defenders, but slowed down as the game went on. True Freshman QB Cole Pearman had a horrible first game, as already mentioned. WR/TE Jim King was the bright spot on offense as he caught 5 passes for 117 yards, but had a shocking 4 dropped passes. TE Zach Holman caught 2 passes for 22 yards. With less then a minute left in the half and ECU up 7-0, Pearman connected with Holman off a play action fake and he ran it 85 yards for a game tying touchdown, however, a holding penalty brought the play back. The Bears were forced to punt, and ECU completed a hail mary to Eric Murphy on the last play of the half to put them up 14-0. A devastating penalty, to say the least, as Missouri State never got back into the game.

The loss drops the Bears to (0-1), as they open the season with a loss for the 6th year in a row. ECU improves to (1-1). Next week Missouri State will have their home opener vs (1-0) Ball State.
Did anyone like the highlight video? It took a long time to make and I don't want to waste my time making more if not many people like it.

                      Year: 2013
                      Job: OC
                      Team: Hawaii Warriors

So I have now officially started my Hawaii dynasty.
It's year 2 in the Norm Chow era at Hawaii and he's got a new offensive coordinator in Aaron Price who's replacing Tommy Lee as OC. Here's the upcoming schedule:

                      Week 1: USC
                      Week 2: at Oregon St.
                      Week 3: BYE
                      Week 4: at Nevada
                      Week 5: Fresno St.
                      Week 6: San Jose St.
                      Week 7: at. UNLV
                      Week 8: BYE
                      Week 9: Colorado St.
                      Week 10: at. Utah St.
                      Week 11: at Navy
                      Week 12: San Diego St.
                      Week 13: at Wyoming
                      Week 14: Army

                      Game 1: USC L 34-10
This was a game that Hawaii knew that they were probably going to lose. But that didn't mean that they couldn't keep it close. In the first quarter the Hawaii offense couldn't really get anything going but on the 3rd drive of the quarter they managed to use a nice mix of run and pass to get within field goal range and convert. USC on the other hand for most of the first half ran the ball down Hawaii's throat. That ended up resulting in silas red running for 3 touchdowns in the first half. With the score being 20-3 going into the locker room, coach chow had to think of something to get drives going. At the start of the second half, Hawaii got the ball and continued to pass with Taylor Graham. Only occasionally running it with Joey Iosefa. But with both teams defenses stifling in the 3rd quarter, it would come down to the 4th quarter to decide things. In the 4th quarter, Hawaii got the ball and on the only drive of the game where they could actually run it, they pounded it to take time off the clock and that resulted in Taylor graham finding Scott Harding multiple times off play action. They got inside the red zone and Taylor Graham managed to find Scott Harding again for a 5 yard touchdown. USC on the other hand decided to let silas redd run wild on Hawaii in the 4th as he ripped off two 70+ yard touchdown runs to end it. Coach chow had this to say after the game:

"Coach Chow: I thought that we did a pretty good job in the 1st half at not turning the ball over and converting when we had to on 3rd down to keep drives alive and continuing that into the second half. The O-line did a nice job at keeping our QB upright for most of the game as well. I'm also very happy with our defense and the way they played against a great offense with lots of dangerous weapons to go to. I would like to see us tighten up on 3rd down situations and also tighten up on the run game. It's pretty ridiculous to give up 222 yard rushing in one game. But that is something that we can improve on and continue to work with. Overall, a decent game and a good confidence builder for Oregon St. next week.

Next week Hawaii goes to Oregon St. to battle the beavers. Stats from the USC game:

                      Hawaii: USC:
                      Total YDS: 295 511
                      Passing YDS: 161 282
                      Rushing YDS: 32-64 38-222
                      Passing Att/ Comp. : 21-37 21-32
                      1st. Downs: 17 21
                      Kickoff/Punt. YDS: 70 7

                      Hawaii Warriors Dynasty
                      2013: OC 0-1 (0-0 MWC)

Re: How is your dynasty going

After a 7-6 season in my 3rd year at North Texas, I took the Head Coach position at Duke, where as the OC I helped get them to a 11-2 record in year 1 of my dynasty. But since then they went 3-9, 3-9, 4-8, and 2-10.. Idk why because the QB was a dual threat and rated 99, I guess my read option works better for him.. Anyways.. We played a very tough ACC schedule and overall as well on our way to an 11-3 record, an ACC Championship, and a Orange Bowl appearance.. Finished the year ranked #8 in the nation.

                        Schedule:

                        vs FCS Southeast W 70-0
                        vs #9 Army L 21-31
vs #19 Florida State W 24-21 on last second FG
                        at #8 Miami (FL) W 38-34
                        vs Buffalo W 42-17
                        at #3 Virginia Tech L 33-38
                        vs #2 Georgia Tech W 34-28
                        at Virginia W 31-14
                        vs #16 Notre Dame W 28-21
                        at N.C State W 38-24
                        vs #11 Pittsburgh W 37-23
                        at #25 North Carolina W 42-24
vs Florida State (ACC Championship) W 38-21
                        vs #5 Texas (Orange Bowl) L 28-55

So we finished the regular season ranked #4 with a 10-2 (8-1) record, winning the coastal division, but even dispute doing that and beating Georgia Tech and beating 6 ranked teams, and our only losses coming against top 10 teams, Georgia Tech is still ranked #1 with the same record..

Recruiting went well, finishing with the #19 best class, signing the top CB, top SS, Top DT, #2 QB, Top HB, and found a gem at DE

Starting a true Freshmen at SS, with a 80 rating, and a true freshmen at DT with a 79 rating, most of the rest Redshirt except for the Freshmen CB who is 3rd on the depth chart with a 79 rating, and the gem DE who will also start with a 79 rating..

                        Conference Changes made:
I moved Maryland to the Big 10 in 2015
I moved Louisville and Notre Dame to the ACC in 2014
I moved Connecticut to the ACC in 2015
I moved Houston to the Big 12 in 2016
I moved TCU to the PAC 12 in 2015

                        Those are the notable ones..

After 4 years as a head coach my record is now 40-14, and including my 2 Years as a OC at Duke and OSU, I'm 65-16

So um I was looking through rosters out of curiousity (since I had simmed 5 years) and there are some absolute FREAKS.

Ohio State has a 90 OVR true freshman WR.. whos 6'5... with 99 speed.

Virginia Tech has a 97 OVR (SR) OLB who is 6'2 240lbs with 98 speed, and the dude has 88 throw power 76 accuracy!

                          not.. even... joking

All across the nation I am finding recruits that are very unique, a change from NCAA14. Theres a 5'9 250lb MLB who has 87 speed, 82 carrying, and 88 break tackle rating. The 5th best kicker is actually a 65 OVR tight end with 93 kick power 87 accuracy. There's a 317lb DT with 80 throw power and 65 accuracy. There are tons of offensive lineman with really good tackling rating as well as defensive lineman with good blocking ratings. I have found some unique players like this on my team as well, that weren't recruited as Athletes. You have to really look at all of your recruits ratings at the position changes part of the offseason, and expect to be surprised!

Its very motivating for me to see all these cool recruits. I really hope to build up Missouri State and maybe someday I too can bring a legend to the campus. Go Bears!

I wish NCAA 14 had some more variety in the recruits, It seems like every year I see the same skill stats and physical stats for recruits.

                                I went 8-5 .... I had a 4 game losing streak until I won my Bowl Game

                                Year 2

                                I'm 1-0 so far beating Utah 42-0
