So, this feature is actually pretty neat, if implemented correctly.

But the video actually brought down my expectations of Madden next-gen dramatically. A few things looked a lot better, like the crowd. The rest? Marginal improvements at best. Slightly improved graphics, same cut scenes, same game play. Really disappointing.

      Seems like an interesting idea.

I'm on the PS4, however, and would rather have an app to manage my franchise mode. I spend a lot of time browsing menues and it would be nice if we could do team management, trades, owner mode features etc. on a touch screen instead of using the controller.

Also was surprised to learn that the videos were next-gen footage. I honestly didn't notice until I read the comments. This means I'll probably cancel my pre-order as I don't need the same game on two different generations of consoles.

We tend to give EA Tiburon the benefit of the doubt and state how good premises seem to get lost in translation when implemented but the translation lost is when we misunderstand what they intended to happen all along.

I can see it now, people posting about CoachGlass and how it should be expanded to help AI play calling and blah, blah, blah, next year. Only to have it be ignored the next year or continue down the gimmicky path it was intended for since it's inception. EA Tiburon is making Madden the game they want, that they believe will make them the most money and the things implemented contrary to NFL representation that we see as mistakes are mostly intentional design.
I agree with most of this, especially the part they make the game they want to and the Illy part too. You have history on your side, if I put the word gimmick on it, I feel as though I'm putting the cart before the horse before I see more this in action.

For me, it seems like a sim feature with potential.(potential being the key word) One can only dream that tiered-play calling is ringing on the doorstep.

History can change, too, but will it? Time will tell.

I could not possibly agree more. This is one of those things that its easy to see what potential it would have to the game when used correctly and I can predict with almost certainty that the feature will fade into oblivion when Microsoft finishes pushing their tablet sales. Meanwhile sim players will be left dreaming about how easily they could have taken a gimmick technology they added and made it meaningful. Just like the gameplan feature they added and then I went in and edited every single CPU gameplan and had the game playing perfectly from a CPU play calling standpoint and then EA patched the game and removes the ability to set the CPU gameplan. I still get infuriated everytime I think about that because of how much fun I was finally having with Madden only to have it ripped out of my hands by the people that I had to work to fix their omission in the first place.

Really?...Who will have tie to fool with a Ipad, Surface or smartphone when some fool is running hurry up and quick hiking. Ths feature will be absolutely useless online unless you are playing a close friend and you both agree to allow each other tme to use your coachglass. Its cool but not practical in use for online.

At this point I'm a complete negative Nancy so I will stop after this post. I have hedged my bets over the last several years concerning Madden, always holding out some hope or optimism that things could change but no more. I don't even consider myself a cynic at this point but a realist. EA Tiburon has played out the same script year after year under the NFL exclusive, using a different cast of characters and props but producing the same overall performance. Until something drastic happens like NFL licensed competition being allowed again and/or the bottom falling out of sales, nothing will fundamentally change.

CoachGlass is another "prop" in a long list of them.

not to mention the game isn't "deep" enough for something like coachglass to work in a simulation way. I don't know how to explain it. The game would need to be fundamentally solid for a feature like this to work well. You play one game of madden, you've played them all. No variation. I know in my opinion.. I'd use coachglass for 5 mins then never touch it again.

Well, not much to say after that, you are being real.

One could only hope you are proven wrong in you last few sentences. Again, time will tell.

naw man and I know folks just don't want to accept this but EA's business philosophy with Madden has nothing to do with giving us what we want. They are the McDonalds of videogaming meaning they sale alot of units based on their consistency. Them damn Mickey D fries might not be the best but they are pretty good and no matter where you buythem from Bangor, ME to Bellingham, WA they will be the same and thats what most consumers want...something they can trust...EA knows this and that is why from year to year you don't see or feel a big change in the Madden formula. This game is not far removed from the Ps2 days...Its just prettier with minor generational improvements.

We are all to blame because the one year they tried to change the game in 2006 with the 1st cycle of next gen games that were absent all the features this community and the Madden world cried blooody murder and demanded that old Ps2 twitch feeling back...So here we are and here they are...lesson learned...be careful what you ask for and when it comes to Madden never let your expectations outshine what has happened historically with the development of this franchise.

All that being said...I still want to see what's under the hood...Thats how I will make my assessment on whether the next gen is improved...Not grass, not fully rendered sidelines or crowds...How does it play is where I will make my decision and we can't see that in snippets and videos.

At this point, you are correct, but, I'm waiting for the A.I. news before I say the game won't be deep enough.

Maybe, just maybe, coachglass is a preview to the A.I. announcement.

i wish i could be as optimistic as you road. I guess I just see it as a core flaw. No tweak to AI or new feature can change the way madden plays to me.
