People keep saying this but what would this solve? What end would it accomplish for us right now?

I think it's a foregone conclusion that the exclusive license with the NFL is done because EA has cornered the market and I don't see them paying for it again.

It would take YEARS for any competitor to make a game that would challenge Madden.

They got what they wanted with the initial deal.

IMO, it's too late at this point.

We just have to cross our fingers and hope that at some point, the EA devs are able to convince those making the decisions that there is a good reason to make the game an actual representation of the football we see on Sundays....

At this point EA might As well pull an eliete/live13 and just delay or cancel next gen until 15. Highly dissapointed

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)

I remember when Madden first implemented the passing "windows" for receivers. I remember walking into an EB when the dreamcast and NFL2k first came out and some lady in line was commenting on how she felt like she was watching a real football game. The days of getting Madden home and loading it up waiting to be blown away are gone and never coming back... The last time I remember playing a Madden game and being truly excited was probably when they implemented the playmaker feature (Vick version).

Looking at the APF2k video really puts into perspective how far behind Madden has become in terms of innovation. Just based on how the players react after the play is over speaks volumes. This game is not even worth a ten dollar upgrade nor purchasing a next gen system so I can play Madden on release day.

We are going to have to wait years to get a good Madden game so what is the big deal waiting a few years for another football game to be developed? We have waited all this time for a good football game. What is another few years?

Yep, even if the license were to end, how does anyone realistically expect a company to just swoop in and make an NFL game right away, if ever? I know some of you guys really love 2K5, and yes 2K8 was a GREAT game, but if the license were to end, 2K isn't going to come and magically rescue us from the situation we're in now.

I agree that it would take years, but i would still feel better knowing that there's actually a possibility for companies to make a product representing NFL football. And, to be honest, i think a company like 2K could build on a strong core like APF 2K8. You're right, though, EA has cornered the market, and i blame the NFL more than i blame EA. From an strategic standpoint, EA, with all the money they had, made a good decision.

but even if the first couple games sucked... it would be an new experience. I don't remember the last time a madden has felt new to me.

The last madden that i really enjoyed was Madden 06 for the ps2 and xbox. I thought the vision cone was a brilliant idea, and the game was built from a really solid base in Madden 05. In this generation i actually enjoyed Madden 13, but not even close to the level of enjoyment i felt from last gen versions.

The NFL loves exclusive licenses. EA is a great partner for them.

I just don't see a realistic scenario of this happening. You think the NFL cares if the game isn't realistic enough, hell they don't even want roughness penalties in the game.

What? It's Madden that wouldn't be able to compete with 2K. We all see how much better APF 2K8 is than the latest version of Madden, so what makes you think 2K wouldn't make a significantly better football game?

Honestly, Madden is done as soon as they lose the exclusive license.

It wouldn't be about the first couple of games from anyone else being bad. Hell I fully believe 2k could make a game that would run Madden off the field. It would not be able to compete with Madden on the economic level because EA has cornered the market for the last 8 to 9 years so you have a new generation that when it comes to video football, that is synonymous with Madden.
