Heck, APF 2K8 engine with updated rosters and next-gen graphics would be better than Madden. I can see the first couple of 2K football games being feature and game mode poor, but the game-play and presentation just outstanding! The features and game modes will come over time.

Is EA trolling us? Their is no way they can put this out on MNF for casuals if us hardcore sports gamers can't even tell much of a difference."It's quite frightening to sing "Who's World Is This?" without proper enlightment"

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
What? It's Madden that wouldn't be able to compete with 2K. We all see how much better APF 2K8 is than the latest version of Madden, so what makes you think 2K wouldn't make a significantly better football game?
Honestly, Madden is done as soon as they lose the exclusive license.
If you think a different studio would swoop in and all of a sudden make a game that competes with Madden you are fooling yourself.
Because of the deal, no studios even have a framework for football games that they are working on right now.
Like I said, it would take years. Sure, I will welcome a new game years from now if and when it comes but they face sales goals and what you aren't thinking of is the perspective of the company.
Hypothetically. If the deal was dropped and 2k came out and made a game next year, we, the sim players, would love it.
The public? Not so much. And unfortunately we are in the minority.
YOu need sales in order to continue to make games. There is a reason when 2k first make their game they sold it for $20. I'm not so sure a price drop would still be an option.
I'm not arguing with you guys, I want the same thing you do. I'm just being realistic.Comment

It's all about making money, and that's what the NFL is doing right now with it's exclusive deal with EA. That's why when I hear all this 2K talk, I laugh. They will most likely not be making an NFL game again, and if they do, it won't be anytime in the near futureComment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Yep, even if the license were to end, how does anyone realistically expect a company to just swoop in and make an NFL game right away, if ever? I know some of you guys really love 2K5, and yes 2K8 was a GREAT game, but if the license were to end, 2K isn't going to come and magically rescue us from the situation we're in now."People don't care if their wrong, they just want to be right."Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
I would imagine they have, otherwise this would be another fail in this game, IMO. EA paid a lot of money for the ESPN license and i have yet to see they properly use it in a game.Comment

Can't give their customers realistic presentation, that would be giving us what we want! They'd be crazy to do that.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
Back in the day 2K wasn't a big or popular name, but now I would say 2K is just as popular a name as EA is. NBA 2K has made a big name for 2K. 2K also just picked up the WWE games. The company is expanding and making a name for themselves. I don't know if you have seen the casuals comments on the next gen footage but they are as outraged as we the sim community are. NBA 2K is highly regarded amongst fans. At this time a 2K football game would definitely be able to compete with Madden. Back in the day 2K didn't have the name they have now. Times have changed and I would be willing to bet people would jump on the 2K bandwagon. They see what 2K has done for basketball and they are also getting tired of Madden. As a combo that is exactly what 2K football can take advantage of.Comment

As if this whole thing couldn't get any more bizarre, look at these tweets from Phil Frazier, former executive producer for Madden.
Owen Good <s>@</s>owengood <small class="time"> 1h </small> ESPN corrected me, said they did not reupload today's Madden next-gen video. I asked why they took it down. They told me to ask EA Sports.
Phil Frazier <s>@</s>Fillycheze <small class="time"> 47m </small> <s>@</s>owengood That footage is clearly 360. My guess is the capture team didnt realize they had to use X1. It was probably pulled for that reason
Owen Good <s>@</s>owengood <small class="time"> 38m </small> I honestly—hand to God—thought ESPN had screwed up this morning, and used Xbox 360 Madden footage, calling it Xbox One.

<s>@</s>owengood This is not far from reality. EA probably marked it as X1 footage by mistake. Pulled it because it's not. That's 360 for sure.

EA is a giant company, 2K is big, but nowhere near the level of EA. EA can comfortably afford an NFL license, no one knows if 2K can or not. We don't even know if 2K still has the resources to even attempt to make another football game.
The NFL LOVES it's relationship with EA, they're raking in big bucks, and contrary to what a lot of people believe, the NFL does not care how realistic this game is, as long as they're not painted in a bad light.
Also, let's not forget one of the reasons the NFL started this partnership with EA in the first place, 2K made them pretty mad selling 2K5 for $20, we have to question whether they would even want to work with 2K again.
I know guys are upset, and I know guys want another football game, but it's time to start thinking realisticallyComment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Video - MNF Simulation: Colts vs. Chargers (Xbox One)
It could be some type of special rendering. Either way, every single animation in that clip was canned animation. Nothing organic at all which is what we are all craving.
Either give us realistic, seamless animations that make physics sense or give us real time physics that look good.
Instead we get a mix of both done poorly.
Let's please stop the 2K/EA discussion, thank you.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives
