Just watched the video, I don't really know how I feel about it, I expected just a better graphical game. It's EA. I agree with peoples complaints about Madden being bad, but it's been like this since 2006 now.
They have exclusive rights, they have no competition anymore, they don't need to try, the game will sell either way. I've seen people in this very thread say 'I'm going to buy it anyway as it's the only choice'. The main reason Madden has sucked since 2006 is because they have no competition, it's no coincidence the year they get the exclusive rights is the same year the games started to get worse. Competition in any form of media/entertainment makes companies/products better.
On top of that, EA is one of the worst gaming companies around, with horrible business practices and constant lying to it's customers.
And finally, Madden isn't a sim game, it never has been, it's an arcade game, very much like Fifa is an arcade version of Soccer. When half our users have to spend months upon months creating sliders to make realistic gameplay, you know it's not in EA's best interest to make a realistic game. You have to remember, we (OS users and players that want sim football) are a small minority of fans. The majority of fans are casuals that don't care and will buy the game anyway.
Our hope of ever wanting NFL sim football lies with what happens to the exclusive rights, It's pretty obvious that EA is not the company moving forward to make the sim football we all want. It's been clear since 2006. I hope they lose exclusive rights and another company can finally create what we all want.
tl:dr - Game has no competition, Madden is an arcade game, EA has a reputation for bad business practices.
Also on an off topic note, I just got really lucky and found a copy of All-Pro football 2k8 on the UK eBay site. The game only came out in America, so I have never been able to find it, until now.Last edited by Zmurkz; 10-15-2013, 07:27 AM.Comment

The only way you will ever see something like that return to video game football is if and when 2K can make football games again. EA is year after year destroying our video game football dreams! It's just so sad to know that as long as EA owns the NFL exclusive license we will never ever get a true sim NFL video game that we can be proud to play.
I would like to have 5 Minutes in the boxing ring with the person that is in charge at EA and making these decisions!!

After seeing that video of the 2k8. I KNOW I would buy a non-licensed football game if it played like that and had the ESPN presentation. It just looks freaking AMAZING!Comment

After seeing those AFL2K clips ( went to 2K and submitted a request
- I am sure it will do no good but I urge others, if you have not already, to just follow suit.
Hello to anyone at 2K Games,
I'm sure you have had your share of email requesting the return of your amazing 2K Sports NFL Series. In short it was simply amazing! I look at today's GAME(Madden) and compare it to AFL2K8 and by all most all senses of Football 2k8 still outshines Madden current releases and possible Next Gen Title. I beg you to please re-consider putting up some effort in the Next Generation to bringing back a title all of us love. Regardless if it has the NFL license I would still buy your game over Madden, hands down! And I LOVE the NFL. All I would ask to see is the ESPN Presentation brought back to its 2k5 glory and some sort of franchise mode with recruiting.
The way you guys make NBA look amazing to a NON-NBA fan is a work of pure genius, imagine what you could do with Football fans...even if you had no NFL license. Show those greedy bastards at NFL and EA what it takes to make a game truly worthy of $60.
I am not alone, there are thousands upon thousands of die hard 2k fans out there that would gladly pay for the return of this game.
Please reconsider and jump back in the ring for 2014. Please I beg you, 2K Sports! YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE! (Yeah Star Wars Rocks too)

Yup. It's really starting to hit the fan now. EA never expected this with their Madden franchise but people are now catching on to what they're doing. This thread ranks just below ramen noodles in great inventions of the last 100 years.
Madden is horrible. I don't do fantasy sports, and madden used to assist me with keeping up with and knowing the 1500 nfl players. There is only so much roster info I can retain from espn and the nfl redone. All I have left in gaming is pro evo, nba2k, and the show. My catalog is anemic. SmhPsn: Alabamarob
