Possible Discovery that answers many complaints
Ok Bear with me on this. We all know that there were complaints about sliders not saving for play-now games... well I think the issue is deeper. I have been complaining about lack of penalties, others about the big hits and to many fights, and most recent with the new patch bouncing pucks....among other gameplay issues. Well I think I have found the problem. There are 3 Game Styles to choose from and each very different. High Impact, Simulation, and Hardcore Simulation. We all select one and us guys who want realistic sim hockey choose Hardcore Simulation. However once you move a single slider it becomes Custom. On the surface thats fine and I have found a slider set that works for me and when I set it up I play and have a great realistic (best we can get) game with good amount of penalty calls and what not. When I save my season and start again my settings are all still the same but all of a sudden the gameplay feels different and back to lack of calls....This also happened last year in NHL 13. Now my discovery. I downloaded the update and played a game. It was horrid. The hitting was over the top I had 4 fights in the first period resulting from hits and the puck was bouncing like a super ball all over the place. I checked my settings and everything was as I had saved it previously....So I thought I have to delete the patch it sucks. Then it hit me. I exited the game started a new one and before I played I reset the settings starting on Superstar and Hardcore Simulation and then reset all my sliders to how they were. Boom my game was great again the solid play was back the realistic and good variety of penalty calls were back. I think the sliders do work in this game after all but somehow our gamestyle changes when we restart. It will still say custom and your sliders will be set but the gamestyle varies from High Impact (which is what I experienced after the patch) to Hardcore Simulation. It must be some kind of deep seeded bug. This explains why we think we fidn good sliders only to think otherwise after a few games. It also explains why some guys were getting good calls and some were not. Guys were posting to play in Superstar Hardcore Simulation and not change anything and that makes sense. However we dont have to do that. You can use custom sliders but need to set them everygame. Start over with Hardcore Simulation and then change your sliders from there. Please let me know if anybody gives this a try and finds it to be true. Im sure Im on to something because my games and simmed games in my season have been solid since doing this and I now love NHL 14.
