Just so many damn things adding up to a very frustrating experience, I am actually surprised it turned out this bad, I was expecting something different even though I am not a fan of EA.

And NHL 04. That game is even better than 09 on PC IMO. Anyway I can honestly say I am really proud of myself for not buying 14. Normally I eventually cave but I just don't even have the itch to play NHL at all which is weird now that the season is on it's 3rd week. Gall damn I pray something changes for next gen though. I can hold off on a hockey game for a year, but I don't know about 2 or more. It will definitely be interesting to see if EA's game plan with this game changes at all due to the significant decline in sales.

The only reason I can fathom that people that hate the game, have clearly hated the game for years, are still playing and whining about it is that they are just mad that 2K hockey folded up. Now all they have left to do is cry about the game that killed off their favorite.

And for the record, I loved 2K hockey. I boycotted EA for years after they killed off 2K football. i think MLB 2K baseball is better than The Show. But the fact is, starting with the 09 version, EA's hockey game was just better. It was a combination of EA's improvement, along with 2K's failure.

Here's a hint. I hate Madden football. I try it every year, and it still fails to entertain me in the least. Now go look at the number of my posts in the Madden forums.

NFL 2K will always be better then any madden game. NFL 2K5 was that game. But I stopped reading after you said MLB 2k is better then the Show. The Show is probably one of the best sports series out there. I don't play basketball, but I heard NBa 2k is a great series too. The NFL 2K series should stil be going strong like the NBA 2K. Damn shame...

That fact is exactly why I now worry about the WWE series, 2k has had a very rough time making their sim sports fun to play for the average gamer. WWE2k is just a spam of THQ's failure, but if they build their engine too complicated... I've found most people just want to max out their CAW and play 6-man HIAC's online.

Also, I believe the reason NBA2k sells is because 1) street ball, 2) soundtrack... Never heard any of my NBA friends talk about player progression in their third season.

Is it perfect, far from. But still the best.
I could never go back to any older version. And I still got them all in my book shelf.

I think you missed the point. How many versions of a game would you buy if you hated the series? How many games that you don't like would you continue posting for years? At some point you have to admit the game is no longer aimed at you, and move on to something else to do with your time.

And my pedestal is nowhere near as high as these guys that proclaim superior hockey knowledge, mocking anyone that likes the game as arcade kids that just don't understand the depth of the sport like them.

The reality is, it's a lame spin because 2k quit making a game no one was buying. The reason I brought up all of the 2k games was to show that I am not the EA fanboy they would like to pigeon hole me.

They are the ones posting over and over again, year after year, about a game they don't like. Its not like Grog and Twiggy are making any new points with this thread.

Missed the point. I don't expect anyone to like MLB 2k because I do. And I sure don't waste a bunch of time pointing out all of the flaws in The Show threads.

I was just pointing out that, unlike the bashers, the name of the publisher doesn't influence my opinion.

I do not agree that NHL 14 is the worst game in the series. Actually, I think there is (incremental) improvement over 13, which, in some ways, was a (tiny) improvement over 12. However, I will also say that I believe the series peaked with NHL 10, and they have barely improved anything since then. Certainly the BeAGM mode is no better since then. I buy every year, and I smack my forehead every year for expecting real improvement.

I'm sorry, but You are the one missing the point. EA is marketing this game as a SIM, while it doesn't exactly resemble a real hockey game. I think that consumers who do pay for the game are very much entitled to express their frustration. To believe this crap of EA time after time is a totally different story...

I'm actually with you.. I even like 2k baseball better than The Show. In fact, I agree on all points.

I'm still playing NHL 13.. I'm in year #3 and going to finally put it to bed and kick off an NHL 14 BeGM career. It's far from perfect, but next to NCAA FB, one of my favorite series for sure.

What a coincidence... that was the last installment of EA's competition in the hockey video game market (NHL 2K10). So like their exclusive NFL license, EA controlled the NHL video game market as well. Strangely, (sarcasm here) their football games seemed to slow down on the "new features" front although they did add features here and there... features that were removed in previous versions and then brought back a few years later and introduced as "new".

Don't read too much into my post as I think EA has done some decent things with their franchises but it has gotten a lot easier the last few years to say "no thanks" to the purchasing of their games. I think that a lack of competition that pushes their drive to be much better is a huge loss for their development.

Just my thoughts
