People vote with their wallets. Sales are what motivates EA not just competition.
You know what the biggest change the Live series ever made? It was from Live 09 to Live 10. 2k beat them in sales for the first time that year and forced EA to significantly change their game. They brought in Mike Wang and Live 10 was one of the best games in the series. The problem was Live 10 did worse than Live 09 when it came to sales and EA decided it had to evolve again and created Elite.
The lack of sales motivated them. If Live 09 wouldve sold more than 2k9, EA would still have a game running off that engine."I strive to be live cause I got no choice" - CL Smooth

Watch the very first move, Duncan gives him a nudge with his forearm. It does happen.Comment

PREACH!!! If this game hits their sales projections this year, then this will be how Live next gen will continue to look with upgrades here and there. Neither company cares about competition more than the dollar, it's business. It's in our best interest as gamers to only buy things that are worthy, because if we buy trash, they will assume we want more trash.Comment

Could end up beeing a decent game... Dribbling/footwork seems really crisp. We definately need to see more but it doesn't look next gen at all. Graphically wise it woudn't even be good if it was a current gen version. Really.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Gameplay Trailer (PS4/Xbox One)
if it wasan't for nba the life, there would be no mycareer/myplayer or jordan moments. show some respect lol. they brought another narrative to the genre even if the gameplay was hokey. it was marketed as arcade, not sim though.#dairyfreeComment

Re: NBA Live 14 Gameplay Trailer (PS4/Xbox One)
Not mind blowing, but it was never gonna be.
The facial animations and footwork and ball physics look great.
Some of the old Live animations we all hate are still there, but there's also some brilliant looking one's too.
I'm not saying Live is going to be the best playing game, but you vets will know what I mean when I say back in the day NBA Inside Drive was the worst looking and worst animating game on the market yet by far the best playing, so don't dismiss Live just yet.
To me, it's a proper version of the engine that launched on 360 with '06. An engine that was ahead of it's time and couldn't run well enough.
If the game gets solid 7's then EA can build from that.
Me, I'm just happy to be playing a different game than 2K for once. I thought Live 10 was the most enjoyable bball I've played so looking forward to this.Comment

Re: NBA Live 14 Gameplay Trailer (PS4/Xbox One)
I expect the leap from Live 14 to Live 15 to be significant. I feel like once they get this turkey off their back and release the game they can relax, and look forward to next year and all the time they have to plan and prepare.
It's like when you're in school and you're passing in that paper last minute and your working on it way into the night, then once you finish and finally pass it in you're like whoo! Now it's over I can slow down and focus.
Live 15 should really show us what EA and these next gen consoles are capable of.Twitter - @OtistheOriginalComment

Ball looks small. Bodies don't look as good as the 2k trailer, I do t think that was in game footage either. Neither game showed in game video. I'm not talking bout replays. I would rather see recorded gameplay. That D Rose dunk was wack. He's way more explosive and deliberate in his dunks and drives.
I will definitely play it and see how the overall game is. Like depth. But I want to see 2k first before I make my overall decision.Comment

I agree with what a few others have said about the players looking "plastic". It's like a bunch of dolls running around out there. At the :12 second mark, Kyrie's armpit looks like a Ken Doll. Steve Nash looks like Crispin Glover in "Back to the Future".
As far as the actual gameplay goes, it seems really stiff. Paul George going through the lane and then throwing up a floater just didn't look fluid. Once I see more actual gameplay, rather than speed up and slow down trailer footage, it might seem different though.Comment
