Re: Operation Sports - Press Row Podcast: Madden NFL 25 Next-Gen with Vic Lugo
very curious to see how this new momentum mechanic will be like in the game..
I just worry about the animations that will go along with it.
will they look like this?

or will there be missing steps.Comment

And have you heard of the new Deadrising game coming out on Xbox One? The amount of zombies on screen is astounding(there can be thousands), all with intelligent AI and awareness where no two zombies are the same. They actually work together and you have to be able to strategize to get away. You can throw out pics of basketball players feeling each other's faces, "sandbox" games and shooter comparisons all you want. All of that is irrelevant when creating the ideal football game.
My point was programming 11 people to work together against another 11 group of guys all in close proximity seems like it'd be much more of a challenge then any other genre or sports game.
I feel in past Maddens and maybe even gen4 devs have cut corners by linking players together rather having them think or execute on their own which results in unrealistic or scripted outcomes.
Just thinking about the calculations our systems have to make in one play of football is insane to me. All that while also looking amazing graphically just seems like a great big challenge that Ea has fell short of consistently recently.
Edit: I loved hearing him talking about mastering the game will increase longevity, but the you have to "feel it" comment made me cringe. So sick of hearing that from EA.Last edited by royounggoku; 10-18-2013, 02:00 PM.Comment

Sir, you're simply regurgitating something you've heard somewhere else. Unless you can break this down factually, take that garbage elsewhere. As others have pointed out, there are games current-gen and next-gen that are doing way more.Comment

Perfect example to bring up. PES was notorious for holding on to it's antiquated locomotion. They had to finally bite the bullet and scrap it. As much as I love Fifa, this is something that they haven't mastered to this level. I love how they are touting True Step, but smooth UGLY animations are STILL ugly. As much as some guys harp on equipment and tat's, this is my deal breaker. I can't play Fifa or NBA2k then not to notice that Madden has terribly unrealistic and down right cartoonish player movement. That, and the lack of any type of "signature" animations, (something even Fifa lacks) and it's just immersion blown..... They can have all the pretty grass and shiny helmets they want. This game's player movement is just totally last, last-gen. About the level that Konami finally decided needed an entire overhaul....... Come on, EA.....
P.S. It is worth noting that this is a "current gen" game!

Wow, that is just incredible looking. I don't understand how EA doesn't strive to replicate stuff like this. Like it's not just Madden, NO EA sports games look as realistic as that. Quite depressing.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

It's always boggled my mind, too..... It just lends ammo to the "let's build a game for casual's" argument. Funny thing is, you should go into a players ratings in PES. It speaks volumes as to how they can create such a diverse pool of players, and can replicate many of the play styles of the sport's biggest stars. Go into even my beloved Fifa, and it's no contest. The depth isn't there. Basic player ratings, not many to choose from, covered up by pretty uniforms and authentic player faces. Tada, EA's core gaming philosophy.... Like you said, kinda depressing...... Shall I bring up how deep 2k's ratings and customizations are?
And Madden is the shallowest of them all. That's why they are really starting to grasp at straws for marketing. The pretty blond has been exposed by advancing tech and clearly superior games, and is being exposed as being pretty shallow.... A lot of this is all just makeup, covering for the lack of depth....

What if madden just had a game and gave us impact blocking 08,vision cone 06,fight for the fumble 10,protack 10,infinity engine ,controled celebrations 07,with current anouncers simms and nantz ,and gus and collins worth, and madden 10 presentaion ...i think that would be a 2k killerComment

But Basketball and Football are night and day when we talk the "physical" aspect of it. Football requires far far more logic and strategy as well..granted basketball does require both as well and i am a fan of Bball but not nearly as much as Football which imho is the greatest sport known to man kind.
PS I think i was at that game with Jordan getting hammered at the last pic ...with Rodman on the Pistons. Yes i was fortunate enough to go see MJ play many of times including playoff games and championship games on occasion

You are not seriously comparing the zombies A.I. Logic in dead rising 3 to a Football videogame A.I. Logic ..are you? Jokes aside of course hahahaAnd have you heard of the new Deadrising game coming out on Xbox One? I was using it as an example of the capabilities of today's consoles. I'm sure it's viable to get intelligent 11 on 11 gameplay in Madden when this game can intelligently control thousands on screen.Comment
