Indiana Pacers - Online quick matches

Is anyone else having a problem shooting 3 pointers with Danny Granger? I don't call plays, and it seems like Granger ALWAYS end up wide open in the corners, but I can't knock down the shot consistently. It's getting to the point where I'm actually scared to shoot with him, but I keep taking the shots due to him being so wiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddeeeeeee open.

The main reason that I don't like shooting with him is that it's mostly likely to end up as an automatic defensive rebound for the other team, or it'll be an automatic turnover because it bounced over the backboard. I have his shot release down pack, and I mostly get Excellent-A rated shots. I find it odd that I'll go 2-10 shooting with Granger, but I can easily shoot above 40% with Paul George on contested shots and worse releases.

Lastly, does anyone uses Stephenson? I use Orlando Johnson, because I feel (rating-wise) that he's the better player to use in ranked matches. In my mind, Johnson is the player that Stephenson SHOULD be.

Paul George is WAY overrated. I hate playing the Pacers, tough to beat them.

        been using indy since 2k12

for ME danny granger is a great shooter.. you just have to realize his shot is pretty late .. i hit more jumpers with granger than i do george.
at first i did have some issues with both him and rudy gay, but holding their shots longer solved the issue.

and i still like stephenson over johnson on this game.. i use him as my backup pg

i guess everyone has different experiences tho, because ive played against the pacers and see the user go 1/13 with granger on decent shots

all i can say is... take him into freestyle practice mode and play with his shot
remember: 2k incorporated early/normal/late releases into this game

I've been a Pacers fan since I was born and have ALWAYS used them in 2k... Kinda weird seeing so many people online wanting to play with the Pacers.. Hasn't been like that in a long time. Anyways, I can't tell you what you're doing wrong but I tend to hold Grangers release just a tad bit longer and he's money when he's open. And to answer the Lance Stephenson remark.. Stephenson is on point in this game. I don't see why you would even think about letting Orlando play over him, Lance is fast, athletic, and can hit the open jumper when you need him to. I love Lance on this game and the Pacers defense is fantastic btw

ive been using pacers since 2k7, like others have said grangers shot release is a little late. i love granger on here but pg is alot better as ratings state. i suck with stephenson on here and play orlando johnson instead. orlando is one of the best shooters on this game

I've been using the Pacers, since Bulls vs. Lakers on the Sega Genesis. I'm going to try to shoot with a later release, but to me...if the game is telling me that I'm getting excellent, A grades, then I should be at least hitting 40% of his shots. I'm not one of those individuals who expect it to go in a 100% of the time, but geez...can I at least see it go in at a rate that's closer to his career numbers? In NBA 2K11 and 2K13, Granger was a damn monster when you left him open.

Keeping it real, I mainly use Orlando Johnson, because he has better ratings in the things that I would use Stephenson for. Plus, Stephenson has way too many cold spots on the floor for my taste, and I like Orlando's shooting release better. If you do a side by side comparison of their stats, Stephenson is only rated higher due a few categories. To me, Stephenson should be rated where there should be no doubt in your mind who you should use between the two. For example, Johnson actually have better rebounding ratings than Stephenson. Something is wrong with that picture, IMHO.

yes, i know what you are talking about. The Pacers are my fav team and all the times i've used them in 2k14, I miss so many 3's with Granger.

Why is this team so f*cking hard to use in online ranked games? It feels like nothing ever goes right with this team. They're getting outrebounded... outhustled... and Roy Hibbert feels worthless. I swear I have more unforced turnovers than actual turnovers.

That's two years in a row that I feel that I can't be competitive with Indiana in online ranked games.

I'm surprised to hear that with the experience you have. 2k14 is a point guard heavy game to me. Indy is weak in that area maybe you have to really slow the pace down and pound people inside with the big boys. Paul George is a physically huge player this year wonder if he can post also to take advantage.

It just gets old having the same damn problems with the Pacers since NBA 2K12. Either I'm getting outrebounded every game, or the other team is really close. It's hard as hell to get a post up game with Hibbert, because he has one of the lowest rated HND and SEC ratings for a starting center. It's hard as hell to prevent unforced turnovers, because they're Top 5 lowest rated in the SEC, PASS, and HND ratings. They have five offensive signature skills, and three of them belong to bench players. The perimeter players have low STR ratings, so they're easily affected by players with high DEF ratings. Once you throw in the wide open shots missing, one shot and done possessions, giving up an ungodly amount of AI caused blocking/shooting fouls, and the "unconfirmed" comeback logic, the Pacers are pretty much overmatched.

I like to think that I'm one of the better players in NBA 2K circles, but this game is frustrating the hell out of me. The defense is somewhat there, and I see the improvements. The problem is that Hibbert is not as effective as he should be defending the paint. Not that it matters...the Finisher signature skill will probably bail out the offensive player anyways.

Re: Indiana Pacers - Online quick matches

I agree with what you are saying. Granger lost deadeye, dropped rating and they changed his release. I have a hard time with him. What I've noticed is that it's easy for opponents to settings out Granger so that he misses even if he's unguarded just because the settings are at pressure shooters or he is set to be defended a certain way. Green was never affected by that kind of thing last year but Granger always has been.

                        They even changed George again.

I also prefer Orlando over Stephenson.

In quick matches, shooting perimeter is essential and it's tougher with Stephenson plus late releases are killer.

The Pacers are a very good team. Normally good teams in real life mean that they are easier to use in 2K. Not so with the Pacers. I can't play defense out of the box with them even though I continue to try.

I'm sure battle hardened 2K users that can play with any team can kill it with the Pacers. But I don't really operate that way so I can't do it.

Personally, I rank the Pacers at 15th or so in the pack because of ratings and to see teams with 25 sigs and the Pacers less than half of that doesn't help.

The simmed season someone published that had the Pacers around 500 team also shows how it works.

                        Good luck.

Say it's not so, Coach2K. You're like the expert when it comes to the Pacers while I'm just a competitive gamer with them. I would probably rank them lower than that, because they don't have any athletic players to make up for the low ratings. I've been putting in some serious practice and gaming hours into the Pacers, and I can't dominate with them. Are they the same way in the offline modes? I know you're more of offline and league player than me.

Also, can someone explain to me how Granger has a 55 points ratings drop for a strained calf muscle while Kobe has a 13 points ratings drop for a torn acl?

It's still early. Check back with me right before the next game comes out after I relearn every thing I have to relearn over every year lol!

Lance is actually good in this game this year. You can get out on the break and take it to the hole with him, and if he is open from the perimeter its money.
I only use the Pacers and Im not a online player, but this year Granger is a little harder to shoot with. The poster who said he has a late release might be on to something there. I'm kind of hit and miss with Granger, but lets be honest as of right now he hasnt shown the ability that made him a All Star, heck he cant even stay healthy enough to get in a regular season game.
