    Notes by the author:

This will be a BeAGM dynasty. This dynasty will focus on the Nashville Predators. But there will be a side story in this dynasty. Instead of playing BeAPro, I will follow a created player in this dynasty.

There will be 15 or 200 game updates, where there will be League standings, Player stats, League leaders and roster changes (only Nashville). The most notable news around the NHL will also be reported.

Every month a report will be given on the created player. This report will give you his stats and an update on his play with the Nashville Predators.

I will try to play all of my games when possible. Backup goalies will only play in back-to-back games (unless circumstances are different: tandem).

The reports and updates will have a different look than in previous dynasties. I hope you will like this one. Feel free to comment (I will try to answer as much as possible)!

David Poile steps down after many years of service for the Nashville Predators.

In a press conference in Nashville, the Nashville Predator General Manager David Poile announced his retirement. Poile, who is 63 years old, did not have enough motivation to continue his GM carreer in the NHL. After the last CBA previous season, Poile wasn't really motivated to give it all. Nashville regrets Poile's decision, but will move on.

After only 2 weeks they signed a new General Manager. The new manager is Jo Loonstra from New York. Loonstra has his origins in the Netherlands (Europe), but lived his whole live in NY. His hockey carreer is mostly amateur based. His coaching and GM carreer has been in Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, Finland and Russia). Loonstra will be a long shot for the Predators in a time where Nashville needs to find their way up and back to the playoffs.

        Nashville (Tennessee), September 2013.

The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Maus Jansen to a try-out contract. Jansen will report to the Predator's training camp where he will try to earn a full time NHL contract. The Dutch defenseman was scouted at a youth tournament and Nasville kept an eye on him for the previous 3 years. GM Loonstra said that it will be hard for Jansen to stay at Nashville, but he will have his chance. If Jansen should not earn his NHL contract, he will probably be given a AHL contract and be assigned to the Milwaukee Admirals.

Jansen is a 2 way defenseman, who has played hockey in Europe his whole life. Jansen was a member of the Nijmegen Devils in Nijmegen (the Netherlands).

            Pre Season 2013/2014

We had a good pre season this year. A record of 4-1-1 was enough to satisfy coach Trotz and GM Loonstra. The pre season was a busy time for GM Loonstra who made a few trades and a free agent signing.

            Games:

            Home 4-2 L

            Home 1-4 W

            @ 5-1 W

            @ 4-1 W

            @ 6-2 W

            Home 3-2 L

            Pre season record: 4-1-1

            Free Agent Signings NHL

All free agent signings are for 1 year.

            NYI signed D I.White
            NYI signed D M.Sauer
            NYI signed D A.Aucoin
            NYI signed D A.Babchuk
            CGY signed LW S.Gagne
            CGY signed RW C.Armstrong
            CGY signed LW C.LaRose

            Nashville Predators transactions

            Free agent signings:

            NSH signed free agent G J.Theodore (76, HYB, 3W) 1 year for $0.750M

GM Loonstra wanted a better backup goaltender than Hutton. After making room, he got Theodore. DiPietro asked too much money and Theodore wanted a 1 year deal. We hope he can support Rinne and he likely will only play back-to-back games.

            Trades:

GM Loonstra wasn't satisfied with the roster. The roster was full and he had too little caproom. So he made some trades too make room for players and caproom. Rumours say that GM Loonstra has Gaustad, Nystrom and Cullen on the tradingblock.

            LAK acquires LW R.Clune and C J.Rask
            NSH acquires a 2014 - 3rd round draftpick (LAK)

This trade was meant to make some room for players. GM Loonstra wanted Clune out and in combination with Rask, he had leverage to try for a trade. The LA Kings wanted both players and gave up a 3rd round draftpick. A fair deal for both franchises.

            MIN acquires G J.Juvonen
            acquires a 2014 - 2nd round pick (WPG)

GM Loonstra wasn't trying to trade G Juvonen. The 2013 draft pick is a decent player who could turn in a backup goalie in NHL someday. But Hutton was untradeble and GM Loonstra had no room for another goalie. Theodore had to be signed, so Juvonen was the best alternative for a trade. We got a 2nd round pick (WPG) from the Wild. This was a very good catch for us.

            CBJ acquires C B.Leipsic (60, SNP, 3½Y)
            NSH acquires LW K.Rychel (61, PWF, 5½R)

GM Loonstra looked at his talentpool within the Nashville system. The Nashville Predators talentpool is very thin. Center Leipsic is one of those guys who has a good future, but he has no seize. Loonstra looked to trade him for a bigger guy who has the same talent. He traded sniper Leipsic for PWF Rychel, who has some sniper qualities. Loonstra was very happy with this deal. He thinks Rychel has the qualities to become a 1st line scorer with a physical upside.

            MTL acquires D K.Klein (82, DFD, 3½W), D R.Ellis (77, OFD, 4G) and a 2014 - 5th round draftpick (NSH)
            NSH acquires D A.Emelin (83, DFD, 3½W) and D N.Beaulieu (76, TWD, 4Y)

This trade was all about the specific needs of a franchise. Nashville has many right handed defensemen. They wanted to trade Klein a righthander for Emelin, who is a lefty. But Montreal wanted more. Loonstra also traded the small but offensive-minded Ellis for a bigger TWD Beaulieu. Beaulieu is not known for his physical play, but he is bigger than Ellis. Beaulieu and Ellis are both good puckmovers. I think Emelin is one of the best hitters in the game. It was a fair deal for both franchises.

In the opening season press conference Trotz and Loonstra spoke with the press. Loonstra admitted that Nashville has to win 38 games to keep the owners happy, but getting in the playoffs would surprise the board.

              Nashville (Tennessee), September 2013.

The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Maus Jansen to a 3 year NHL pro-contract of $0.550M. Jansen has done well in the Predator's training camp. The Dutch defenseman was scouted at a youth tournament and Nasville kept an eye on him for the previous 3 years. GM Loonstra said that it will be hard for Jansen to stay at Nashville, but he will have his chance. Jansen will stay in the NHL for now.

                        Nashville (Tennessee), 4 October 2013.

All focus has been on prospects as Jones or Forsberg. The signing of the undrafted Dutch defenseman Maus Jansen for 3 years went unnoticed. He kind of flew under the radar. He was picked up in The Netherlands, a non-hockey nation. He played all pre season games and earned a professional hockey contract. All talks were about Jones and his ability to make an impact on the team. The Emelin/Beaulieu trade was also a hot topic. But in the shadows Jansen got his chance and took it. He played his first NHL game last night on the third pairing with Beaulieu and on the PK. Let's get to know this guy and have a talk with him.

Congratulations on your first NHL game. This was unexpected, wasn't it?

Yeah, when I got here on a amateur try out in September I did not expect to get where I am now. The pre season went well and coach Trotz gave me great confidence. I heard a few houres before the game that I would play instead of Bartley. It was a great experience. A dream for every hockeyplayer.

What is your role on this Nashville Predators team?

I am a 6th or 7th defenseman. I am a big guy, who plays a two way kind of game. I try to make easy plays and play strong and physical defense. Coach Trotz also gave me PK duties. GM Loonstra said I will have a certain future in the NHL when I play easy and keep being big.

Is there a player to compare you with?

Pffff, that is not that easy. Sometimes they compare me with Hall Gil because of my big body and long reach. But I really do not compare myself with anybody. I would like to be compared with Datsyuk, but that's wishfull thinking.

Is there a guy in your team, you study to get better?

Off course Shea Weber. He has everything a guy needs to be a top defenseman. He is a great hitter, good at the back end, but also a good offensive player. He is a great leader on and off the ice. But you can also learn form other guys like Emelin, one of the greatest hitters in the game.

Do you think you can stay in the NHL?

I really do not know, but I will do everything in my power to stay here in Nashville.

Theodore made his debut and the defense left him in the cold. The first 2 goals were simple give aways in our own end. Very sloppy. The 3rd goal was a false referee decision. The puck was underneath Theodore. No one knew where it was and everybody waited on a call from the referee. But it didn't came and Theodore came back on his feet, the puck rolled in his own net.

This was a typical Nashville win. Give your opponent no breathing room in your own zone and Rinne stops the rest. Ware them down and score goals at the right time. Pominville scored at the right moment for Minnesota, but a fight between Cooke and Emelin (Emelin smashed him) got the momentum back to Nashville.

This was a very frustrating loss. 2 goalies who were just excellent. It seemed fitting that only a deflection could past those Giants tonight. But Nashville played good, but the Predators took a game misconduct from Stalberg (major penalty). They killed it off with another 3 penalties in the 2nd. Nashville had two 3-on-5 penalties against. They faught back in the last minute with the goalie pulled. In the overtime they had good chances but it wasn't Nashville's to win.
