    No Practice Plays in Next-Gen

I won't b#$ch and moan/complain sufficeth to say i'm disappointed. I could deal with this on CG because the PS4 and Xbox1 versions of the game wouldn't make the same mistake. I still have love for 2K and am a HUGE fan but I literally would have to have all my other legacy issues resolved (defense stick, turnovers, online, defensive momentum, maxing out strategies and zone weaknesses) to justify a purchase without practice mode.

I'm not the guy who will bug out because the injured guys don't have on suits, the sixers red is wrong, evan turner doesn't have on his "Li Nings", thad young doesn't have all his accessories or that the ratings aren't perfect. I can totally overlook all of that as I can fix all that myself...but I spend most of my time not online? IN PRACTICE.

p.s. Points of Emphasis sounds great. Hope you guys have a blast.

Just practice during quick play? This seems like a really small gripe to have imo. There's no mode that says practice, but that doesn't mean you still can't practice. Idk, I personally am not at all upset about it, so maybe there's more who disagree with me than agree.

Oh for sure....looks like 2K looked at the metrics and basically came up with the same thing. Just means i'm in the minority. No big deal...hopefully it'll be back in 2K15.

That is a terrible way to decide whether a mode or function belongs in a game. The way this is going, Sim going to go the way of the Whigs.

I'm right there with ya! I'm not a fan of getting rid of features, modes, or options just to bring them back as new modes next year. I was waiting out and hoping next gen had practice plays mode back (as like you I spent 80% of my time with game there), but now knowing it's gone for now I will wait til it returns whether that's 2015 or 2025.

Like you said we are minority. Wonder what would happen if they took practice plays out of madden? No labbing would cause an uproar. I know people say go to scrimmage (it isn't the same or even close). I would just be curious to here devs respond and tell us why. Not ignore it. Especially to long time supporters and fans of the series. Being upfront and honest will always get my respect. Ignoring and running does not. Lol

^ Agreed 100%, would like to hear the reasoning... instead of the cloak and dagger the DEVS are pulling about Practice Plays.

A game made to simulate basketball w/o a way to practice plays, damn that's about as real as it gets , I forgot that real life teams don't practice the plays, no walk throughs, no half speed, no full speed w/o defense to get timing down.

I am really disappointed right now and have even had notions of bypassing NG, not that "that" is gonna happen as I am ready to move on from the 360. But I am feeling that more of my NG time will be with BF4 now than it was before yesterday.

I do not understand this. One of the first things I do is put on some music and head to pratice plays so i can put a custom Celtics playbook together that I can use once I get traded to Boston in MyCareer.

those diagrams certainly do NOT represent what you will get on a play with a live defense. thats what practice was for, 2k is so good that practicing plays was actually fun!

I'm really getting worried about some of my other favorite aspects of NBA2k and if they made it to NG.....

Re: No Practice Plays in Next-Gen

I think sadly with threads like this or threads about plays show that it is not a big mode or something that interests or appeals to the masses. Every thread about plays, playbooks, or practice plays never has more than 2-3 pages of responses. Yet threads with lebron's hairline being wrong gets 55 pages with responses. Lol

Where are the sim heads on OS? Maybe 95% of people don't go in depth and don't care and just freelance all game? What if they took out freestyle practice to learn all the ISO moves and shot releases? Then would we be hearing more complaints from the community about losing a key feature or mode?

I thought they got rid of franchise mode for online games (MyGM)? Practice Plays is essential for online gaming. That is the lab of online gaming. Why would they get rid of it? Makes no sense.

Re: No Practice Plays in Next-Gen

For people saying that Practice plays being removed isn't a big deal, I'll give you multiple reasons why we need practice plays.

                      1. If you like using multiple teams and you're a sim head, you need practice plays.
                      2. if you would like to learn different plays that isn't assigned to your team by default.

                      3. Can find out which plays are broken or not.
                      4. No adaptive AI to bother you.
                      5. Makes finding all the possible scoring options easier.
                      6. Can see which plays work against zones.
                      7. Helps knowing what Super teams run
                      8. Can see which plays work better with different lineups.
                      9. Allows us to fully understand our playbook.
                      10. Also we can learn how long it takes plays to be run fully.

Now these are just 10 reasons, tell me if no practice plays aren't a "big deal" and please don't give me that BS about using scrimmage, nothing beats having you're offense on the court by itself learning the plays, then adding defense and different zones to fully grasp the options. Hell even in real life NBA coaches run plays with no defense on the court so you can learn the set.

Yeah, I guess we're the dinosaurs of Basketball Gaming. I can't believe that it would be hard to implement (or, to be more accurate, RE-implement), so the fact that it's still not there even after the hell we raised about it when CG dropped is bad news.

It speaks of the clear indifference they have about our little corner of the world. You can say "well, they can't satisfy EVERYONE", and while you would be right, we're not even getting table scraps. You feed us new plays, but give us no way to learn the ingredients. Will they work? Will they be broken? "Hey, we don't know, and you won't either until you try to run 'em in a game. Good luck!".

It's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. But hey: in a year (or two, or three) when they boast about "adding" a great "NEW" feature: "always wanted to Practice Plays? GREAT news: now you can! Brand new in NBA 2K??, a "Practice Plays" mode!", I guess everything will be ok right? FOH.

Not a game developer, but it doesn't seem like a complicated feature to add in - personally, I wouldn't have made much use of it, but I can see how others might. Pretty lame.

My bad if this has been asked before - but is there ANY sort of practice mode? I do enjoy taking a player on an empty court and just shooting around.

Well it is disappointing you can't practice your plays without defense but at least you can still practice during a scrimmage or something. I know it's a pain but at least it's not totally gone. Would like to see it come back next year though but it's not a deal breaker for me by any means.
