A big reason why Madden is considered terrible...

This was one of a few plays in the same game, but I chose this one because it tells you all you need to know about the quality of this title. This is absolutely atrocious, and it's what makes this game what it is.

I'm playing defense on this play, and I've put players in position to stop a play action pass on the strong side of the field, while hot routing a line backer and corner to maintain backside contain. Look at how Kapernick is able to roll out to his left, turn his body, set his feet and make a perfect throw across his body AND the field for the TD into coverage. Not to mention he was getting hit as he threw it. This is the crap that makes me furious and the fact that you can do this garbage in this game is unacceptable. Awful, ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!

The game has been designed for mobile qbs for ever and its so frustrating. Especially in the H2H online world. Whats more fun to kids and avg football gamers than to run around like a chicken with a fast qb and chuck tds all over the field? I know it hasnt translated much to Madden but its been a joy to watch the option qbs like Vick and RG3 struggle heavily this year in the NFL. Not that I dont like them but because due to Madden im sick of the whole college style gameplay.

I'm a refugee from NCAA, haven't owned Madden in a few years. NCAA wasn't perfect but I never saw that. Perhaps with some of the NCAA developers moving to Madden things will improve.

This is basically why I can't play this game. Since they added throw a wr open, the qbs are deadly accurate all the time and ball placement rarely matters anyway because the wr adjust to catch everything at chest level. Except of course if the db jumps the route, then the wr will just continue downfield with outstretched arms while it gets picked.

I gave up on 13 after about 4 games and 25 after 8. Until the passing game redone, I can't play it. I know people throw the term broken around a lot with Madden, but that's what it is to me.

There won't be. First off they'll probably just take a look at the title and chalk it up to another Madden hate thread. Secondly whenever someone posts a critique of Madden with a definitive visual to back it up they either don't respond or they give one of those stop complaining posts. That is why I encourage people to start posting pictures or videos to back up their problems with the game to show these people and hopefully even the devs that we're not just complaining to complain and that these problems exist. And despite what we've been told I also encourage visual comparisons to the "game that shall not be mentioned" to prove that this can be done in a video game.

I don't want to hate this game at all. I am desperate for an NFL game worth playing, but nonsense like this is exactly what makes this game the laughing stock of the sports genre. When I see developers come here and complain about the vitriol they get towards their abilities and the game, it frustrates me because of crap like this. Imagine playing the Show and constantly having guys single to right field and thrown out at first base on a regular basis. Or hitting a fly ball to deep right center and having the first baseman be able to run out there and catch it. That's how ridiculous things like this are. This is why the comparisons to 2k are constantly thrown around - because you can't do this kind of BS in that game. In fact, you couldn't do it in gameday or NFL Fever either.

Either you are going to make a game that simulates the NFL or you are going to make a crappy arcade game that has the real players. Which one is it EA?

Yea this has happened to me before. It's worse when it's near the goal line.

I imagine getting all of the small things to be just right is tough, but... it is what they call their job. All we can do is hope and make the best of what we've got. (and try to help them of course)

Fix it? Fix it?? Son, that's been a staple of the game since forever, it's called a "feature" now.

Come sit and have a beer with Uncle Jet and let me tell you a little story about the birds and the bees and Madden.

This is how we do things here.

1. "It must be an early build"
2. "It's only a demo"

Then and only then after we have the game to we get to:

3. "Maybe they can fix it with a patch"

Do you see how silly your question is now? So off script, you must be new to the process so I forgive you and that's why we're having this beer. I want to help you some of these other guys can be ruthless if you don't follow the process.

This next part is going to be rough so order yourself another beer and a shot if you like, it's on me. Listen closely because I have to whisper this part:

They...never...."fix it", the patch fairy never comes, now, now, now, don't cry this is part of becoming a man, it's for your own good. Buck up son and put it on your "Madden Wishlist" for next year, you never know when Madden Santa is going to come through your router.
