Problem With Dunking (2k14) Current-Gen

I cant seem to consistently be able to dunk with anyone. I have a 7'2 Athletic Center with Highlight Film, Post Proficency, Posterizer, Screen Outlet, and Finisher. - also has a 100 dunk tendency and 100 alleyoop tendency but yet he never dunks the ball. except off alley oop pases.

I play against a friend off line and hes dunking in traffic over me consistently Guys like Blake Griffin, Rudy Gay, Westbrook, Rose, Shawn Kemp etc..

This is all offline By the way

Anybody having the same issue? Any fixes for it.

Is the Vertical high enough? (80+)
Is his dunk rating high enough? (85+)
Are you holding turbo when driving in the paint?

Yes yes and Yes I even tried a maxed stat (99) center with the same settings and still got no dunks in game

I've noticed that my Center will only dunk it from specific spots on the court. Also make sure that you have dunking on your guy because you have to put the dunks on your guy. If you've done that for some reason dunking with a center is more difficult than a guard. It's frustrating in Crew when my guy only does layups.

Yeah seems like they toned dunking down this year. Ive drove down the lane plenty of times with Lebron and he just lays it up even if no one is in front of him.

Yeah he has all 15 signature dunks filled mostly off two feet dunks but still shouldnt be an issue to dunk

I'm finding dunking to be hit or miss with R Stick. So if I want to dunk, I just press Square and Turbo

try holding turbo while driving to the lane and hold the r stick towards the rim. this works for me 90% of the time. even holding turbo and pressing square/x does the trick if the player has the right momentum going towards the rim.
i had a lot of trouble dunking in the beginning but i can pull them off at will now.
if your player is tired then he will lay it in automatically instead of dunking no matter how hard you try lol.

the r stick is really messed up this time. i feel like i have very little control on spin shots or straight layups. i think last years shot stick was perfect.

I see PGs and SGs dunk on me a LOT more than my blacktop player (SF/PF) does, even with maxed out stuff.

Agreed, my athletic PF/C does not dunk as much as my athletic C dunked last year. It seems that you need to run at least 1-2 steps to do any kind of dunk, inlcuding standing dunks - so they also need a bit of momentum this year. I have not seen a "stand in one place and then jump up to dunk" trigger this year.

- 90 dunk does not really improve things
- Posterizer: I have only seen it light up once in 5 matches
- Highlight film: complete waste of VC/SP. I only saw its effect once (I guess), when there was a double replay after a dunk: the vertical and then a super slow motion replay.

However, Gatorade might help you a bit, because I equipped it and right after that had a milestone game with 10 dunks

I thought dunking was a little too toned down myself, probably because of the constant complaints about the inability to block a dunk that occurred last year. It may be the combination of the control changes plus the toned-down dunking. I use the Absolute control scheme (not camera-relative) and discovered in practice that I have to hold Up+aggressive modifier to dunk consistently. I think in years past you could do Up/Down/Left/Right+aggressive modifier to pull off different types of dunks. Either way I can dunk more now by making sure I do Up+aggressive modifier. Also turned up dunk rating for hum/cpu to 75. Still don't see the satisfying/fun vicious dunks consistently but occurs at a clip I'm more satisfied with now.

Hoping as they continue to tweak the live ball aspect of the game along with the animation tech they're doing, they'll bring back the ability to go aggressively to the rim and the tech will allow for the appropriate offensive/defensive balance.

I agree with this.

In addition to the live ball point,
I actually think sometimes it's due to phantom contact, where I have a clear path to the basket yet my player is expecting contact from someone who isn't even underneath the basket yet (but is close by), so instead of attempting the dunk and then having to adjust mid-shot he starts with an adjusted layup in the first place (which I believe is a lower percentage than if I'd just got the dunk in the first place and then either had to adjust or follow through with the dunk)

The game has a glitch. In research into why my guy with a dunk of 50 stopped dunking, I found a solution. Only, I discovered it's even simpler. Just make sure to have a dunk animation equipped in the very last slot (15). Just put your least used/favorite package there, and fill the rest as usual, and you should start dunking again.
