All this stuff has been done before but the emotional part comes from the fluidity and natural look of it all and that's where Madden's biggest problems lye. Madden's jittery unnatural animations take you out of reality and reminds you it's just a game where as next gen NBA 2K14's animations are silky smooth and the transitional animations natural looking. Football"s emotions can not be expressed through facial animations because of helmets on the players but instead portrayed through the athleticism of the sport.
Dez Bryant, Steve Smith, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and many more all show emotion on the field and you can see their emotion in their body language, inside their helmets, and on the sidelines with helmets off.

I hope they can go farther with the engine to the point where footwork plays a bigger part in the game and dribbling will be more specific and unique. They also better implement this on defense because that is their largest weakness. To be honest, although the visuals are stellar, the gameplay really is still the same for now but I know next year, we will see the true potential of this beast. And about that no jump shot animation will ever be the same, imagine if dribbling or crossover animations were differenciated from sloppy to effective due to how you would time it. PS they should also add tier dribbling like live so not every animation looks like a crossover and replace unrealistic animations like when the player is just standing there with the ball exposed right for a steal instead of going to a triple threat.

If I was LeBron, I would get a damn haircut, go up to 2K headquarters and demand to do my head scan over.

These are probably the two most nitpicking things ever but it's a little annoying. The nets on the rim are thin like paper, it's funny how they add so much detail to the shot clock but keep the net looking like a cut up piece of paper. Secondly, after all these years, why does the big screen show the team's logo?! It should show the game in the broadcast view to the crowd. You know like it does in real life. Those are little details I expected would change immediately in next gen.. Hoping those change in 2k15.

I want to see if 2k will step it up with half time presentation. Its decent, but I'd like to see it mimic a real halftime show and with a more known guy. No offense to the radio host who does the voice overs.
Yes, its time for 2K to give us that NFL2K5 style presentation with a halftime show with video highlights of other games going on around the league and commentary breaking down the highlights -------------- ITS TIME 2K!

Unless you don't like 2k the question is what have they done to lose ground. For me, nothing. They continue to deliver. But I love the game and the consistency of the product. They don't have to reinvent the game of basketball.

its made for the little tweeks to emotions as well as things like the ball spinning while in the players hand after its bounced. and back spinning at that(real physics). but what it doesnt say it does is actually separate the ball from the persons hand from a video game stand point. thats two different things. from looking at a hot animation of the ball spinning and physics of the ball bouncing a different direction on contact with the floor. vs the ball being truly loose from the players hand. dont be fooled by very pretty animations from 2k.

make darn sure their game play is on point before you start kissing the ring for next gen.

...seriously, people either can't read or can't hear? I'll post it AGAIN.

                              From the video:

"For us on the gameplay side what that really means is making sure that these guys think, that they behave, that they act the way they do in real life."

"One of the main things you will see and feel right away is foot planting. Footwork is everything in basketball."

"Every animation can be altered and change to reflect what's happening within the game."

"we've got this new eco-motion engine that can drive so many different things. it's our rendering, its our AI, its our animations, its everything."

Just to make it easier, bolded for gameplay references.. This is not JUST graphics. No they didn't show you straight up 5 on 5 raw gameplay but to say there is no gameplay here is just ignorant.

Seriously though watch this whole video again, there talking about nothing but gameplay for basically the whole video. They talk about graphics for like 10 seconds then jump back into talking about gameplay yet people are claiming that's all the video's about because it's stands out so much. Lol I think for any of there gameplay related vids to really come across is for them to have no in game visuals because it's so distracting to some.

This is a DIRECT quote from the vid:

We expect the graphics on any next gen system game to be spectacular, but moreso than anything else I think this year the first thing that hits them about our game is that they feel alive

This pretty much highlights the theme of this vid so I don't know where comments like this is coming from
i think the issue is that they talked about gameplay but didnt show any examples except for one footplanting clip which only showed one player footplanting for a few seconds, and not even in a real game scenario. i can pull that same amount of footplanting from cg 2k14. the thing they talked about the most was emotion which really doesnt affect how the game plays at all. they said the think behave and act the way they do irl but that may not translate to how they play. it means theyll emote the way they do irl. they need to show examples of players like lebron purposely sagging behind on a fast break to get a chasedown block, kyrie irving breaking someone down with sizeups, etc. they talked about the improved crowd reactions but didnt show it at all. they can say all they want but without examples its hard to take them at their word. i mean if i made something as amazing at this sounds i would be champing at the bit to show it off, not just talk about it.

What? They said on numerous occasions that emotion effect how they play. And by this logic things like blogs hold no weight. But I do agree it would be nice to see these things in motion.
