So much for disk space being what was holding Madden back.

So a guy on twitter got a One early (Target is shipping out systems as soon as they get them) and posted some file sizes. I think it's funning how 2k is larger than all the EA Sports titles combined.

    CONFIRMED sizes of games

    43GBs - NBA2K14

39GBs - Call of Duty Ghosts

    37GBs - Killzone Shadowfall

    35GBs - Battlefield 4

    35 GBs - Knack

34GBs - Ryse Son of Rome

    31 GBs - Forza 5

    24GBs - Zumba Fitness

    22GBs - Just Dance

    20GBs - Assasins Creed IV

    19GBs - Dead Rising 3

    15GBs - Skylander Swap

    13GBs - Loco Cycle

    12GBs - Madden 25

    9GBs - NBA LIVE 14

    8GBs - Fifa 14

During one of madden devs next interviews this needs to be asked about.

LOL So much space in between. Not good at all. EA has some serious issues right now to be work out. There should be no reason for this much space on disc. Even when you have a dancing game taking twice the space on a disc that Madden is usin. This is just mind blowing. EA is still using less disc space then they have on a regular disc. Come on EA. Use this disc space to make a good game for once.

Re: So much for disk space being what was holding Madden back.

I hope these numbers are a lie but if true, this would explain why Madden's standards are below average.

These numbers reveal how utterly wasteful the product is.

Who finalizes an 80min disc with one track containing 4:00mins of play time? There is still 95% of disc space available!

I could not fathom buying an album that contained two to three tracks at 3:30s on average per track and still be charged the price of a full album?!

Even on a single layer blu-ray disc these guys are not at 50% usage. I digress.

How is it even possible that NBA 2k can have 600 different interviews with real player voices and we can't even get face scans and real cadences for 32 quarterbacks?

LOL at the three games on the bottom of the list being EA Sports games.

I bet they're going to come up with some BS like they wanted it to make it easier for the user to download

I absolutely belive that this information is true. The question is, what to do? And in that i mean how do we deal with EA's continual BS? Nothing will ever change with EA, until we stop buying their games, especially Madden. They have been duping us for 20 plus years, but every year we keep buying the same old crappy game.

There's something weird here. We've seen the back of the Dead Rising box and it says minimum 35GB. There's the back of a Madden box floating around this forum and it says 50gb on PS4 (as does NBA 2K14).

Re: So much for disk space being what was holding Madden back.

I'll say it here: Underwhelming launch titles are very common. Remember all the 2D games that launched with the original PlayStation? Yes, those sprites were more detailed than on SNES and Genesis, but they weren't anything close to what we eventually got with Gran Turismo or Metal Gear Solid (for example). Even Madden used sprites for player models until Sony's awesome Gameday 98 came around and led EA toward fully 3D models in Madden 99.

All that aside, disc space doesn't concern me yet, especially for launch games. Would it be nice to have a 50GB Madden at launch? Definitely. But who's to say it won't eventually get there, especially with pressure from other games on the market and the confirmed lower sales?

The best thing EA can do is provide us a fully featured trial on day one like they're going to do with NBA Live. Otherwise, I recommend that everyone votes with their wallet. Unless you're getting a promotional discount because you bought the current-gen game, be an informed customer and don't pay the full $60 if you're underwhelmed with the product. With zero competition in the football market, saving our money may be the best way to get the series back on track.

Loco Cycle being above all three EA Sports games is completely insane.

Loco Cycle is a $20 downloadable arcade game from the makers of Splosion Man and The Maw, which were both Xbox Live Arcade Games:

How does a downloadable Indie game take up more space than a $60 retail game from a mega-publisher?
