What it's looking like to me is that Yakupov is a bust and Eberle needs a change of scenery.Originally posted by XXstormmXXThe reason I always root for multiple teams is because if one team doesn't make the playoffs or gets eliminated, I loose interest in the sport until next season if my team gets eliminated early. It keeps things interesting if you still have a team you like in the playoffs... -
Re: The Official 2013-14 Regular Season Talk Thread
Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat have been playing better than them this season. The Defense is balanced also. Andrej Sustr is playing better than anyone could have imagined, and if Koekoek can get his game back they will have a good top 4. Hedman seems to be struggling though.I questioned TB acquiring Bishop for Conacher, but he's been great for them. Not to mention they might have one of the best young forward prospects in the league as a group. Killorn, Panik, Connolly, Namestnikov, Kucherov, Drouin, etc. Also have the 2nd best center in the league.PSN:BrrbisBrrComment

Re: The Official 2013-14 Regular Season Talk Thread
Do you remember when Smid was drafted 9th overall in 2004?
Do you remember when Smid, Lupul, 2 1sts and a 2nd were traded for Chris Pronger?
Do you remember when Ottawa was going to trade Dany Heatley for Smid, Penner and Cogliano?
Spoiler
Turns out Ottawa did pretty well getting Milan Michalek.
In all seriousness, it looks like Edmonton was dumping Smid's salary to bring on Bryzgalov. Horak could develop into a solid bottom 6th guy and Brossoit was a late round pick goalie prospect, so basically a lottery ticket. I can understand not wanting to take back picks since that would send a bad message, but Edmonton really needed to get more out of Smid than what they got. I credit Calgary for seeing a chance to get better and taking it. Just because you're in a rebuild mode doesn't mean you can't pick up solid vets on the cheap. Smid is 27; basically entering his prime as a defenseman.Comment

Re: The Official 2013-14 Regular Season Talk Thread
I don't think the Oilers consider Yakupov a bust, but he's redundant. They already have a handful of small, skilled forwards, who couldn't pick their own end out of a lineup.
I also hope that Edmonton doesn't give up on Eberle that quick. I really like this kid and think he's someone you make part of your nucleus.
Edmonton needs more jam and veteran leadership more than anything.
And I really have my doubts about MacTavish as a GM.
I think the whole front office needs to be canned.Comment

After missing their first 7 gimmick shots this season, the Wild scored on all 3 of them last night and finally got the extra point.Comment
