Madden NFL 25: Hands-On Impressions from Polygon

Polygon has posted up some next-gen Madden NFL 25 impressions. The impressions are from a hands-on experience with the game. Here are a few things from the article:
    • Proper double teams and pocket formation is in this year's game. The pass rush is better than on current-gen Madden.
    • Fans are much better at reacting to events on the field, reacting to 40 different types of events on the field with different reactions.
    • Madden NFL 25 on the PS4 supports remote play on the PS Vita.

What did you think of the impressions? Anything stick out to you?

This is good to read considering that the developers have been mainly touting the games under the hood changes for this version of Madden. I'm especially intrigued by the Living World crowd aspects.

I know I have been hard on Madden 25 next-gen, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to try it out.

I'm liking these improvements, especially crowd reactions to first down conversions. My biggest gripes in the past were with huge defensive stops and or big first down conversions and the crowd does NOTHING. I hope big defensive stops ( goal line stands in particular) has improved. Still very, very reluctant to purchase this though. Will wait for reviews.

While next gen Madden25 ain't going to be a big leap into next gen this year. But I feel this year will do. I like the improvements they have done this year compared to current gen version. But I honestly need an update to Madden game to play. I've been Madden11 for the past 3 years now I'm just so bored of it. So If I'm going to invest in this year Madden. It is next gen. I never bought the current gen version. Didn't have no desire to buy it. But next gen Madden I am looking forward to. Can't wait to get my hands on it soon.

I think people will be somewhat surprised when they get their hands on this one. I don't think it will be perfect, but I do think it will open the door to some really good things over the next few years.

I'm really excited to see the crowd changes and see how much better the next gen graphics are. If it looks as good as FIFA 14 I will be extremely pleased.

It sounds good but the videos EA produced didn't show it. I guess it's wait and see...only a few more days.

Funny how for years we chirped EA stating "spend more development, less on marketing"

So they under market (in our opinion's) Next Gen...and we yell about it.

It's an upgrade from current gen. As is all of the next-gen sports titles, that's why they have been hesitant to show gameplay. Actually, everything I've seen from next-gen looks to only be a slight upgrade from the previous game (see Assassins Creed 4). I mean that's not necassarily a bad thing to me. I think the game will play better but it's not going to blow you away.

That's good to hear... if not see...

I really wish they would stop using those E3 screenshots though. Anything is possible, and we could all be pleasantly surprised, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that the game doesn't look anything like those pics, in its current form.

I'm pretty sure there is a lot of sarcasm in this post, but just in case I'm mistaken, no one considers actual gameplay videos to be marketing. The marketing that people don't want is PowerPoints, Catch Phrases, and sizzle reels that don't represent the actual product.

You can never get enough gameplay footage of any game before making a purchase.

I posted on this earlier, this is not a situation by EA to undersell and over deliver. Their last earnings call outlines that their outlook for this past Madden on the PS3 and the first iteration next Gen are not high nor major revenue drivers in regards to Madden specifically.

These articles are hard to take seriously especially when we are so close to release and EA won't allow anyone to play the game with the commentary on when it plays a bigger factor in the presentation aspect than the crowd noise. Especially in regards to adding color four seasons into a franchise.
