"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
After playing a bunch of head-to-head games with some buddies and several quick start games against the CPU, I finally played my first MyGM game today with the Bulls. I'm not sure that any other game has sucked me in more than this game has. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close - I am in love.
I ended up just edging the Heat in OT, 104-103 in a game that was just fun as hell. Some random thoughts from this game:
- I was able to get to the basket at will with Rose - not in a cheesy way, but in a "Derrick Rose is just quicker than everyone else on the court" way. I got to the line 18 times, which is awesome on so many levels.
- Deng got hurt in the 1st quarter after shooting a jumper. He fell to the ground and was holding his ankle in pain as the play kept going. He had to be helped off the floor and Doris Burke later reported that he had a broken ankle. Sucks for me, but pretty damn cool in general.
- The CPU threw 3 alley-oops, and each time they involved LBJ and Wade. Absolutely sick dunks too, and they weren't cheese alley-oops either.
- Mike Dunleavy blocked LeBron's shot at the end of regulation. Really?
- Miami really attacked the basket against me, especially with Wade and LBJ just constantly going to the hole.
- The Heat started Battier at PF, so I was really able to exploit that matchup with Boozer. I was able to back him down at will, and Boozer finished with 22 & 8 on 10-20 shooting. Mismatches such as this one or getting a C on a PG can definitely be exploited, which adds to the realism.
- That being said, it would be nice if the CPU made adjustments to those mismatches. I was hoping to see LBJ on Rose at some point in the game, or somebody like Haslem get a little more run to try and stop Boozer. I know that's a lot to ask, but maybe for next year.
- Noah does his "finger guns" which is a nice touch.
- I skipped out on last years game and this years CG version, but "And 1's" happen more frequently in a good way. I always felt like 3-point plays were impossible to get in previous versions.
Well, that's all I can think of off the top of my head right now. I can tell you guys one thing, and that is that this game is going to consume me. I can't believe how much negativity is in this thread, but to each his own. I am going to keep enjoying the hell out of this game and I look forward to getting deeper into MyGM today.Last edited by JoeDog10; 11-17-2013, 08:12 AM.Comment

Thanks for your in depth impression. I don't have the game and I'm on the border of whether or not I should purchase because I've seen more disappointed posts than positives. 99% of game play posts are positive.
The only negativity is about the game modes and lack of customisationComment

Is it possible to use a legend team in MyGM?

Sounds nice! Can't wait for my Xbox. But Noah doesn't do the Figner Guns in real life anymore. After playing a bunch of head-to-head games with some buddies and several quick start games against the CPU, I finally played my first MyGM game today with the Bulls. Can you play multiple seasons on season mode and where are the defensive settings? I kind of miss the ability to pressure shooters, lock the paint, double stars, use custom defense, or constant pressure in the middle of a game. I don't see this option anywhere?Comment

Have any of you guys used the "key on player" in the Points of Emphasis? I was keying on Melo and he didn't even take a shot the entire first half. Barely even touched the ball. I then took it off, and he started getting more involved.
So I'm wondering if this is just an isolated incident, or if it's overpowered. Because the combo of Dunleavy/Snell shouldn't be able to literally keep Melo from touching the ball.Comment

Yes. Go to customize league and turn it on when starting myGM and replace who you want.
Also, I chose the bobcats and owner wants me in the playoffs. I told him I doubt it lol. How he expect me to win first year with that team?Comment

This game is sick! the graphics, the game play.. the look and feel.. wow!.. but one thing happened to me that pushed it over the top for me. I started my MYGM franchise, playing as the wizards.. in my first game, i went up to block a shot and missed.. I uttered a loud cuss word.. and was given a T for bad language!! WTF?? lol!! I then noticed that several times i got invalid command tags in the upper right corner.. i did not know that the system and the game recognizes voice! that went over my head.. lol
"..I ain't a thug, how much tupac in you you got? I aint no beotch eva.. its eva my life or your life and i aint leavin.. i like breathin.. If you really wanna take it there we can, just remember that you messin wid a family man.. got a lot more to loose than you.. rememba dat.. "Comment

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
I've seen this FAR too many times right now.
This, and it seems like the reaction time of the computer when it comes to rebounds, loose balls, etc are vastly superior than that of my Pacers.
Case in point, I'll block the shot with Hibbert, have 3 Pacers in the key, yet Eric Gordon still gets the loose ball, goes back up, I block the shot, 3 Pacers in the key, yet Eric Gordon comes out yet again with the ball. It's happening way too often for my liking.Twitter - WTF_OS

I agree. Too many times I'm playing hard nose defense in the paint, blocking one or more put back attempts only to have the ball end up in the other teams hand for an easy score. I blocked Paul George twice last night with Ibaka only to have my last block drop on Perkins head and roll down his back and right into the hands of Hibbert for an easy score. It doesn't happen all the time but definitely enough to notice it.Comment
