NBA Live 14 Feedback/'15 Wishlist Thread

As people are starting to get the game/gameplay videos are being released, figured this thread will be MUCH needed. Figure we have a lot of respected members here that could provide constructive feedback to the Live team. What they do with it, is clearly up to them.

Use this thread to post feedback/comparisons/examples of things that are good/bad in NBA Live '14.

Also, use this to post things you wish to see changed/fixed/added/removed in NBA Live '15.

This is NOT a thread for 2k comparison/trolling.

Mods if you could sticky this, it would be much appreciated.

Re: NBA Live 14 Feedback/'15 Wishlist Thread

Fix the movement/physics/animations. I know some here don't see it and never will - because it has become something you take for granted when seeing NBA Live gameplay (since Elite - and before 10) that it has become INVISIBLE to many. I can't look past that. I don't care if the spacing is amazing, if the AI sets picks in the perfect moment, or if the stats are perfect. NONE of this matters to me if the players don't move/animate/interact like humans.

So please, please, and please...! FIX THE MOVEMENT/ANIMATIONS/PHYSICS. This is the base. Please don't ignore this issue. You are heading in the right direction with presentation and AI (for the most part), but none of this matters if the players move like it's 2006.

Please, look at Live 10 that wasn't perfect, but if you compare the movement/physics to what was created after - it's like Live 10 was played on a PS4, and Live 14 is played on a PS2.

    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display

    OS: Sinclair BASIC

All I ask is that you don't listen too much to the community and stick to your vision. We don't need another animations-over-everything 2K game. Stick to your guns and create the game you want to make. Give us something different from 2K (which is what you are doing, so far, so good) and don't listen to the people who just want your game to look like what 2K is doing.

You guys are on the right path. Stick with it.

Make the animations smoother and from what I've heard, the controls need to be more responsive. Add more texture to the graphics because Live 14 looks a little bland. Other than that I don't have any other complaints or feedback.

Re: NBA Live 14 Feedback/'15 Wishlist Thread

              Presentation:
Great start. Love the detail of the pre-game. The outside arena view looks great. The commentary during the intro is good but could be more throughout and more focused around potential in game match ups and team statistics.

Commentary in-game needs work. Too many pauses and basic calls. Need more off the cuff banter and space filling talk. One of the great things about Breen and Van Gundy is their in-between play banter.

Crowd at first listen needs beefing up, especially when it is set to a CF or Finals game. Need more ambient noise, random crowd yells/chants. More "rowdiness" on opponent free throws. More camera angles and cuts to show crowd reactions/ player reactions.

Halftime show is great. Jalen Rose sucks though as expected. Need more detailed commentary regarding performances and statistics. Wired piece could be longer but it is a nice touch.

              Physics:
All physics aside from dribbling need tuning. Player momentum and weight should be considered when there is contact in the paint. Players currently go undeterred to rim and none of this is taken into consideration. Goran Dragic should not be barreling through Blake Griffin with no consequence or reaction.

Foot planting is conditional. Players off the ball still look like they are gliding when they run. Dribbling mechanics work well and moves and move animations make sense contextually.

Passing needs serious tuning. Ball travels at various speeds and really doesn't revolve around context. Entry bounce passes travel at warp speeds, but passes around perimeter lag at certain points.

Players still warp to rim on layups/dunks. There is no loading of weight when going to jump and context on when each of these occur are really not taken into consideration. And again players go undeterred. People should not be going into layups from behind the rim.

Cloth physics are also horrid. Shorts bounce incredibly stiff and weird. This has been an issue for years now.

              Animations:
Aside from dribbling, everything else is pretty bad. Shooting animations have a weird speed to them. Animation transitions are incredibly shoddy. (IE Off the dribble shooting; Running and dunking)

Still no signature FTs and a limited amount of signature shots? In 2013 that is unacceptable and the ones that are included look nothing like their real life counterpart.

Running/walking/standing animations all need refined. Is it that difficult to mo-cap people walking and running?

Will expand more in later posts.

Also ADD THE ABILITY TO EDIT RATINGS AND SLIDERS!! Not including this is unacceptable. Not everyone wants to rely on Synergy data for gameplay. Ratings and Sliders allow us to edit/fix issues that can't be resolved just by adding Tendency %s.

              In-Game injuries. Add them.

Re: NBA Live 14 Feedback/'15 Wishlist Thread

I think the #1 thing to Bring back LIVE to where is should be in CUSTOMIZING Options. I am really hoping that Live 15 ADDs in alot of Customizing Options. Live has been out of the Market for awhile, so I expected a Bare bones release. Which for me is fine as Long as it IMPROVES by Leaps and Bounds next year. UNLIKE OTHER games, Live has taken a 3 year break, so I am giving them time to make it back to where they were in their Prime. With that being said, here is My Wishlist for Live 15. These 7 things WOULD make LIVE #1 in my book.

                1. Make GAMEPLAY #1 Priority.

                2. Make BASE Game Modes #2 Priority. Association Mode(On-Line, Off-Line), Season Mode, Playoff Mode and Career Mode need to work PROPERLY before adding more Modes.

                3. Let USERs Edit Players, Sliders, Coaching Profiles/Settings. Keeping the Updating Service that is in Place now is fine, just give USERs options as EVERYONE has different opinions on HOW the Game and Players should play.

                4. Let USERs make Draft Classes with full Custom Options

                5. Have an IN-Depth Association Mode for Off-Line and Off-Line USERs.

                6. Have a Create a Player and Create a Team Options

                7. Give USERs plenty of Practice Options so they can learn the game and plays to run in the game

Interior pant defense...I kind've expected this to be wonky with Lives first outing of their new physics...but it's pretty bad...

There are time where animations will fail to interact when they should, as well as times where animations connect when they shouldn't from really bad angles...

he wasnt really bashing 2k. he said dont try to be like 2k.

i think the first thing they need to work on for next year is visuals. sadly thats the most important thing to the majority of gamers. signature shots/free throws need to be enhanced. right now it doesnt seem like there are many at all.

going along with visuals is player movement. a lot looks good but a lot looks stiff as well. players need to look more natural when moving around the court. i would also like to see a little more contact in the paint. right now it looks like there are times when contact occurs and the players adjust but they dont actually make contact if that makes sense.

they definitely need to add more customization in the form of sliders and camera angles. synergy is great but sliders allow you to play the game exactly the way you want to if you dont like the default. not saying scrap synergy by any means but the options should be there.

flesh out rising star mode. im glad they spent year one focusing more on gameplay but next year will have to have fully featured modes. more options in the cap especially for customizing faces (maybe adding gameface or using the kinect/ps camera to scan your own face in?).

obviously commentary will get better year by year. work on stitching commentary together. try for less dead air but at the same time keep the focus on the game. we dont need to hear back stories all game every game. i would rather hear them discuss how a player is performing in this game or even the last few games vs what they did in the offseason. players having big games should be talked about while its happening. see below:

                    <iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/LP3YH6LExWQ" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="240" width="320"></iframe>

no talk about anything off the court while there was action on the court. the only talk about something else happened during the free throws. once the free throws were done they came right back to whats happening on the court. they recognized that something big was happening and kept the comments focused on it. if a game can deliver that kind of awareness and excitement in the commentary it would be amazing.

the halftime show is a great start but it needs to be more seamless. right now it feels like each little segment is its own piece rather than all being part of the same report. they should flow into each other. add more highlights and have jalen talk about the specific sets of highlights (ie Curry was on fire from 3 in the first half while showing him hitting his 3s) rather than a generic heres how the warriors looked. talk about a few individual players and their impact (or lack thereof) in the half/game.

im guessing this one can be fixed in a patch but if not: address the hop step. right now it seems way too overpowered and easy to use wherever/whenever. sometimes it seems to shift defenders out of the way (although i have seen a few charges called on it which is a good thing).

penalize players for trying to perform moves with someone who shouldnt be able to. seeing hibbert drive the lane in the [gamespot?] video hurt a little. offline its not a huge deal since i would never even think to try it but online will suffer if everyone can do that.

more differentiation between players specifically when talking about speed and quickness. this also leads into more fast breaks. more explosive first steps are also needed.

keep going in the direction you are going. i like the responsiveness of the controls for the most part. i think a lot of people are trying to change directions/dribble moves before it is physically possible and that makes them think the controls are not being responsive. i may be wrong but thats my thought on it.

EA needs to ONLY worry about gameplay, period. It doesn't matter what features they have. If the on-court basketball is not replicated well, there's no point in even trying to continue to move forward. Live is only in competition with itself. I said it before, but if they couldn't make a good game on current gen, what makes people believe they can do it on next gen?

I honestly believe that it doesn't matter what we say. The guys at EA have their own perspective of what basketball looks like and it shows through from title to title. All I would like from EA is a well-playing, smooth, fun, smart, and deep representation of video game basketball with intricate player differentiation. That's it.

What's truly on my wishlist for is another company stepping up to make a quality product because EA is not, cleary.

I totally agree with you 100%. I would love if SCEA San diego made a comeback. I absolutely love what they do with MLB The Show and think they would definitely deliver a next gen basketball experience.

Fouls need to be increased. I have all of mine maxed out at 100 and I've not seen more than 15 fouls for both teams combined.

That was one thing I loved about Live 10, the foul sliders really worked and were very sensitive.

There are some other things that I think need to go in, but fouls IMO is the most glaring issue. I mentioned this to Scott Gallagher right before the game dropped and he did his live streams on Twitch.

I'm hoping this is something that can be done during the live updates.
