            Sam Bradford Tears ACL

Seems like Bradford can't catch a break

The St. Louis Rams' upcoming season is about to look a whole lot different.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednsday night that an MRI confirms Sam Bradford has a torn ACL, according to two sources informed of the situation. Bradford suffered the injury during a Rams practice session on Wednesday morning. The team confirmed the injury Thursday morning. The is a big blow to the Rams with just a few days before the start of the regular season. Bradford has had an up and down start to his NFL career with injuries playing a big part of it. Now the ACL injury will set him back even more.

The only other quarterback on the Rams' roster is Kellen Clemens, who has seven touchdowns and 13 interceptions for his career. NFL Media columnist Michael Silver reports the Rams even internally discussed adding Tim Tebow to the mix, although a signing is unlikely.

It was just a few weeks ago that Rapoport and Silver reported the Rams were committed to Sam Bradford as their franchise quarterback. They were willing to give him a contract extension. Bradford will certainly be the team's starting quarterback next season, but it feels like we are no closer to knowing if he's a difference-making quarterback.

Meanwhile, St. Louis' first-round draft pick next season could be rather high. The team also owns Washington's first round pick. The Rams say they are committed to Bradford, but they could be staring at some nice quarterback options at the top of next season's draft.

                  WEEK ONE

                  ARIZONA CARDINALS (1-0)
                  VS.
                  ST. LOUIS RAMS (0-1)

                  RAMS FALL TO CARDINALS 34-21
St. Louis gave the ball away 4 times in the loss.

Tavon Austin caught 12 catches in his first game; Zac Stacy took the starting job and isn't looking back.

The "Kellen Clemens Era" in St. Louis got off to a horrible start as Clemens threw four interceptions in the Rams 36-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. Clemens did throw two touchdowns but that will be overlooked by his turnover fest to open up the season.

Arizona jumped out the gates fast going up 14-0 with two big time plays from their playmakers. The first score of the game came from free agent pickup Rashard Mendenhall who broke off a 31 yard touchdown run to put the Cardinals on the scoreboard first. Mendenhall finished the game with 138 yards rushing and a touchdown. The Cardinals answered their own score with another long scoring play. Carson Palmer connected with Larry Fitzgearld 43 yard td pass in which Fitzgearld completely left Cortland Finnegan in the dust. Fitz made Finnegan looked that way all game long as he hauled in 8 catches for 121 yards.

Two of the Rams rookies were their lone bright spots on a long long day. 1st round pick Tavon Austin had a big time game from the slot. The West Virginia product led all receivers with 12 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. Most expected Austin to make his impact in the return game, but he proved he could also be a big time playmaker in the passing game. Rookie HB Zac Stacy also had a big game rushing for a game high 141 yards on just 15 carries. Stacy won the starting job in preseason from isiah Pead and Daryl Richardson.

Things won't be getting any easier for the Rams as they head to Atlanta to take on Matt Ryan and the Falcons next week.
