re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
If they had to focus on gameplay, why they have made new modes like MyGM and put VC in every possible place in the game. I think that they should have focused on gameplay, as it seems like they have done, but also on making little improvements in the game modes that were already in the game. I only see wrong decisions referring to the game modes.Truth.
They could have carried over everything from current gen and prettied up the graphics. Then we would hear how they took us to the bank.
They can't win. I love that they are focusing on the core game first. It took what - 5 years to have the amount of content they do under the "current gen" engine.
I am completely content with where they are taking the game "on the court." That's why I play games. If you guys want to immerse yourselves in 30 team control, you still can. There is nothing wrong with the current gen. However, if you want to play the next evolution of this series' gameplay model, you need to realize it comes with sacrifices for a year or two.Comment

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
How many times are you going to keep posting the same thing over and over again? WE GET IT.why?
All of the things I am complaining about are in the game.
why are people overlooking this?
This is why I said people are settling for less when they shouldn't have too. As ugly as Madden25 is, it is fully featured. Other games are fully featured too and yet 2k gets a free pass? Why is that?
Yes the game is pretty. Yes it plays well. But everything else drags it down and thus the game won't have any longevity.
2k doesn't get a pass from me. They chose to focus on extra **** like cutscenes and interviews instead of maybe getting CAP to work, maybe making sure rosters could be saved the same way. Maybe they could have used the extra power to fix the trade AI. But nope instead they wasted time on extra fluff thats not even good IMO. They had more than enough time for that (which btw takes way more time and focus than everything else). Their priorities are wack.
All they had to do was give us the same improved graphics and gameplay that you guys are touting with all the features we come to expect. The additions they made are simply not worth losing standard features for and 2k does not deserve a pass for it. EA woudn't get one. Any other company wouldn't get one and neither should 2k. Everyone else put out launch titles with all their features.
This is my main problem with the "its the first game of next gen" excuse. It hold no weight as they found the time to add crap like MyPlayer.Comment

The first part I'll give you, Pared. That's a no-win situation. Focused on the core game? Here's my thing: 2K went all around the simple concepts such as CAP and 30-team control to do this MyGM stuff? Come on now, why does that have to be sacrificed? I was one of the guys saying, "If I get my hands on a PS4, I might get NBA 2K14. No reason to now.Truth.

Now, I don't have a problem playing it at someone's house because the game is good gameplay wise and looks incredible. Here's hoping2K smartens up for 2K15. Unless there's a patch.Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! It seems to be the equivalent of a felony...Comment

But if they just prettied up graphics then it wouldn't have been a different game. I see and feel a different game. Less glitchy, purtier, astounding graphics. Im totally glad we got a new game.Comment

Sorry for the spam but I don't think any of you get it at all.
It's nothing but "this is a new gen" excuses which miss the point. I am simply trying to explain myself.
If you don't care about the stuff I am bitching about then this game is great. I am just trying to explain why I am not enjoying it as much and why the defense of 2k's practices here is confounding to me.Comment

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
Yes, it is the best on court experience ever as it was on CG NBA2k14. There's no doubt about that. I'm tired though of this "first next-gen release" excuse. I'm tired of videogame companies cutting off good features that worked well the past years and there is absolutely no excuse removing customization from customers. I'm one of those that hate social media based features in gaming that distract the user from the heart of the game. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is great as I've mentioned above. The rest package is just mediocre. Also the next-gen consoles have now straight/native pc architecture and programming/coding is even more accessible/easier.This.
Where have we gone with our expectations here? Really. I've been coming to this site for nearly 10 years. I've adapted a way of looking at this game BASED on everything I have seen/posted/read during my years at OS. Opinions have varied, users have experienced both ends of the spectrum, and it has been well-voiced. But when it came to 2K basketball the staple of the franchise, AS well as the voice of the true fans was simple: build a game that is featured around the ON-COURT experience.
That is exactly what 2K Sports has did with 2K14 next-gen. This is by far the best on court experience EVER in a basketball game. And sadly, it seems the majority of opinions on here completely disreguard that fact, or choose to look past it.
Yes, modes and game depth, as well as options to customize the experience, are very important. However, common sense must be applied here. We cannot have the best of both worlds on a first next-gen release. It isn't plausible.
Some of us might have to step back a little and really think about what they expected out of this game a few months ago.Comment

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
There are two versions of the game. If you don't like one play the other one.
There's a ton of people enjoying this one despite its limited mode/features. I'm still having fun playing random match ups and just being in awe of the presentation and on-court gameplay. Not to mention the real-time NBA scores/stats integration is amazing. Tonight or tomorrow I'll move onto MyGM and fiddle around with that.

We are just discussing the game, giving impressions and no one here forces someone else to choose a side/game (CG-NG). Both versions have great gameplay. NG=Gameplay+Graphics-Modes, CG=Gameplay+Modes-Graphics imo. There are two versions of the game. If you don't like one play the other one.

There's giving impressions and then there's trying to direct others on how to evaluate and enjoy the game.

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
I don't think it's that. It's calling a spade a spade. The game is pretty and the gameplay is great. It lacks big time when it comes to those modes for reason repeatedly mentioned in this thread. A lot of folks (sim-heads) are about meat and potatoes. When a person pays $65 for a sports game, they want a complete package. Now I'm tripping about 2K's poor performance with the modes. As far as those who bought the game and they're angry, they should've researched this game before buying it.Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! Well, yeah I can understand what you're saying. But I think he's just trying to explain it because the overall feel in this forum is "It's pretty, it plays great, no one should complain. Keep quiet. Embrace 2K!" where we should be calling them out on flaws. Which is not giving proper attention to the modes. To each his own though but people in this forum have to remember:
We've gone through many years of sports games this past-gen build ideas for features to implement. Things that we've gone without in Madden, 2K, WWE, The Show, etc. Gamers have to speak up or devs will continue to ignore us.Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
If this was 2k15 or they had ported over the same game, made resolution slightly better, and removed features then I can understand the backlash and hanging 2k from the rafters for whatever travesty they've done.
But that simply isn't the case. Light on modes/features? Sure; everybody in this thread is aware of that and to the majority of us we're still more than happy with what came in the box. For me its a fair trade considering they've essentially started from scratch. For some that is enough and for others that isn't.
If there aren't some true next-gen features in 2k15 then I think all the "its not enough" talk will be warranted. Until then I'm in a wait and see mode, but I'm loving the gameplay and to me that's enough.
What *should* be the main discussion is this server/cloud non-sense they have set-up to save and load everything through.

re: NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)
So we can't say what we don't like about the game because it is a first next generation tittle, uh? I don't agree, feedback about what the game is doing wrong is very important
. It is not about a fair trade or something like that: it is about pointing what they have to improve/patch. And if you just don't say anything in the forums, how will the devs know about it?
