The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
For a game with a multiple year development cycle, a rough history going back to not one but two cancelled games and a full $60 price tag, I would say that even if its a "realistic basketball sim", its still a disappointment. The same people that are going at 2K fans for giving it grief are also giving this title quite a free pass based on some videos on Twitch and the one positive review from Bleacher Report.
Honestly, for $60, you should expect more from EA than this.
I may be the minority, but I just want to have breaks from 2K and play another viable game. This may fill that void when I want to take a break from 2K.
The game is a realistic simulation of basketball, bleacher report a site known for their basketball analysis and knowledge of the game gives it a 7.8 because they see the basketball realism in the game.
It's not just about the graphics but how the game plays from a purely basketball standpoint, and NBA Live delivers a solid basketball simulation. People are really spoiled by graphics and animations it annoying really. If you have a solid Bball I.Q and a basketball mind then you can see the potential in Live, and the amount of fun it could be with two solid players going at it.
I wish more people saw the Scott OG stream or at least he archived it, because the game looked better than any other stream I'd seen of Live, if you understand basketball strategy and tactics then you;ll like the game for what it is. A maybe raw, but solid sim of basketball, not just NBA basketball, but basketball in general.
*Waits for the wise guy to say "but you haven't even played it, stop deffnding EA man"*
I'm not defending EA but just commending someone for implementing core basketball tactics and strategies into a game with full control. I like the fact the game delivers a a solid basketball experience and the control is in my hands.
That's not true at all. ANYONE can write on bleacher report. I can go on and say Kwame Brown is the greatest of all time if I wanted to.
For the amount of money I have invested in a next gen console, this game will get a "NO vote" from my wallet. This game does not justify purchasing a next gen console.
I am disappointed in the representation of the NBA. The animation and movement of the players do not seem replicate their real-life style. The integration with ESPN and commentary leaves much to be desired.

i don't think the development cycle was as long as some people think they had.
Do these reviews now make Sean O'Brian the new David Littman? 2 reboots succumbed to bad reviews... Demo is still on my radar..
NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..

Very disappointed in this game and EA overall. The gameplay in general looks awful having watched a lot of Twitch videos of the game. There is no natural movement of players/ball.
The presentation, although IGN called it "poopy" is very good. It looks good and its something that lacks in the other series' game. The commentary is decent but still needs a lot of work. I long for the day that a NBA game has commentary like 2K's baseball series that is easily the best commentary package of any game in many years, if not ever.
I wanted to pick this game up because i've been a fan of Live for as long as I can remember (on the Mega Drive/Genesis). Even when it drops in price I doubt I will and thats sad.
Ea will, IMO, struggle to come back from this. The game will more than likely sell terribly and EA will struggle to put this team back onto production of this game. 14 could be the final nail in Live's coffin.
This^^^ I agree with this statement 100%. Smh

Live 10 was close to being brilliant. Moving in a totally new direction killed the franchise. If I remember correctly, Mike Wang was at EA during Live 10 and moved when they went in the different direction of Elite.
I personally wanted a good or at least even passable videogame to compete with 2K but this seems too far behind in quality to make up any significant ground even by next year, spacing may be better but I think it may have to do with the player models being smaller in relation to the court. Problem is regardless of spacing the gameplay seems kind of broken, super powered dunks and crossovers is cool for arcade action but doesn't make for great sim style play and watching a lot of gameplay the crossovers and dunks are VERY overpowered.
