Just had an EPIC Cesaro/Sami Zayn matchup in the NXT Arena. I really am loving this game

Again I ask, how does everyone "work" their matches? Do you treat it as a wrestling simulation or do you treat it as an arcade fighter?

With any past WWE game, the first thing I do is turn all indicators off. I would have assumed that anybody that's looking for a challenge would do that first and foremost and would be a given if you want it as sim as possible. It's kinda like playing NBA2K14 and having indicators on as to when to shoot to give you the best chance to sink a basket or having something come on that tells you when to steal the ball. With WWE2K14 it really helps because the reversal window is alot less forgiving this year.

A wrestling simulation as much as I can. I'll let the CPU go on a run if I feel like I'm dominating or go for spots in Extreme Rules matches, or only end matches by sig/finisher. When it comes to big main event matches, I try to let them go a min of 15 mins, at the least

What's the difference? I play to win and the way the gameplay is this year, it's a pretty good simulation of wrestling, at least alot better than previous years. If you wanna arcade it up and just keep trying to punch or do running strikes all the time, you're gonna get reversed often and lose most times. You can't really cheese the AI this year, at least not any way I can find and I'm not really looking for it because what's the point? I never been the kind of guy who just looks for exploits just so I can say a found one because I'm only hurting my own enjoyment of the game.

If you mean that by "working" matches so that you purposely lose or continously attempt moves that cause you to lose in an attempt to recreate a real wrestling match, well I don't know how that can be done and if it could be done then what's the point of playing. You might as well just sim all the matches.

LOL most times I play the only way i can beat a top rated guy is to use my finisher, and usually it's needed a couple of times for epic matches.

You can win easily if you are just trying to achieve a win by just applying a submission to a body part that is red and it gets a win (barring Resiliency). The point of playing a match like it's a real match, is it gives you a chance to see how you can work a match(as much as you can within a video game) rather than playing like it's Mortal Kombat or something.

About the only "house rule" I play with is that I must win by pin fall or by signature / finisher submission (unless playing a submission match where the wrestler I'm using has neither, then I force myself to hit at least one finisher). Other than that, anything goes.

Another thing, winning via Leverage Pin / Dirty Pin is also fine. Some of my best matches have been decided by a leverage pin out of nowhere.

It's still pretty tough for me, given the way I've set the game up.

I'm with CM with the only house rule I have is that I have to win by a finisher/signature.

I play to win, but I won't spam moves over and over again. Obviously, each person has a limited amount of moves so you will use the same ones multiple times, but not over and over and over.

The rules go out the window in Defend/Defeat the Streak Mode though, lol.

How are the ladder matches? Haven't played a WWE game for a while but the last one I played, the match never ended because no one stayed down long enough to get the belt.

The "30 Years of WrestleMania" mode is great! I knew it would be since I really enjoyed the Attitude Era mode in 13.

Gameplay has certainly received an upgrade. Played three matches on Hard difficulty and lost all 3. Very encouraged by that.

I am very glad the reversal window was decreased and the timing of reversals was changed for this year's game. Last year it was so easy to reverse because you just simply waited for the move animation to reach a certain point, press the reversal button and 99/100 you were successful.

Daniel Bryan kicked the crap out of me (Triple H) last night because I missed on almost every reversal attempt. Again, this is not me complaining ... I'm happy this is happening because not only does it make the CPU more potent in terms of putting together offensive moves, it adds to the replayability of this game.

Universe Mode is going to be so much fun once I get through the WrestleMania Mode. I'm already drafting up potential rosters for RAW/Smackdown that will be a mix of current-generation wrestlers and all the unlocked wrestlers/DLC/CAW.

^ You say that now man, but I have had the game for a week and I am hip to when to press that RT to attempt a reversal. It is fairly easy now. I have to chill out with it sometime because it is kind easy.

I have to agree with Colts18. At first, it was rough to time reversals. Now, the CPU gives it away with the same move over and over again so you can reverse easily.

I greatly enjoy the game. I thought the controls would be a hard learning curve but they fit nicely. If I could ask for one thing for 2k to add it would be their signature commentary and presentation. In just learning the game I had two great matches with multiple kick outs that would have been even more entertaining with solid commentary.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.
