Why are there any other difficulty settings? Every time I play on Pro the CPU pulls off absolute nonsense at the end of the game to win. Put it on Rookie though and you will beat the Heat with the Bucks by 40. This game is utterly broken. They said "everyone will be so distracted by the graphics they won't realize how terrible the gameplay is."

You just have to get better. I just beat the Spurs with the TWolves by 8 on Pro.

I really can't remember a game where the CPU didn't pull some stunt to win in the 4th, doesn't always work for it though.

It beats getting blown out on Allstar because you took the CPU lightly then having a 10 point halftime lead before the halftime highlights crash. What's the eta on a fix for that one?

aside from the random crashes, i have great overall gameplay i complained a bit too at first but it really all comes back to how you play the game

i dont think this game was made to be a 50+ speed race past halfcourt, iso motion to the bucket and dunk game.

Try walking the ball up....the pacing is improved so you wont get an 8 sec violation. it will also allow your offense to get into a look. even if you don't run a play, the spacing thats created from taking your time bringing the ball upcourt. the rest of the sliders are same as usual. tweak them based on what your looking for. im in the process of trying to find a balance that brings opposing field goal percentage down a bit im at about 53% vs 48%

          main tweaks i make are
          scoring(based on League %'s)

increase pass accuracy to compensate for the egregious Turnovers that occur, and allow you to swing the ball more forgivingly

Blocks turn user down increase CPU for obvious reasons

the eb and flow of my games is really true to form. from close games, to see saw's and come from behind's, i see it all. main thing is not getting frustrated in taking shots less than 8 seconds into the shot clock. keep in mind it takes the average nba team 5 seconds alone to cross halfcourt.

I really appreciate the insight and tips. Hopefully that will help, but I played a game last night where it was close throughout, and I tied it late to go to overtime, and the CPU shot 100% in overtime. I have been playing 2K for years now and consider myself to be an above average player, but I'm not going to shoot 100%. Trust me that is no exaggeration. The Cleveland Cavaliers shot 100% in overtime on Pro. Something is clearly wrong. I know the reason they shot 100% is beacuse if they hadn't I would have won the game.

Also, I have tried to tweak the sliders, and it appears to me to have some effect on the gameplay, but only until the last minutes of the game when the CPU Bucks turn into the Dream Team. I run a play almost every time unless it's a fast break. I do attempt strategy, and many times I get out to a decent lead early on only to have the CPU make an implausible run, and me missing wide open shots just so the game gets close again. I know there are runs in every basketball game, but it seems it isn't dependent on my skill only that the code requires the game remain close.

Almost every game I play I get an early lead. I keep that lead throught the game until late in the 4th, and the CPU pulls out a close victory.

I have it on pro in my career and i win some games and lose some games, but it's perfect for my skill level. Sometimes we win by 5-6 or lose by 10.

I play on All Star and with different sliders and I am getting good games. I win more then I lose but my shooting percentage is anywhere from 35% to 55% and so is the CPU. I find my shooting % goes down if I have a lot of games in a row. I should mention I only play on MyGM.

Right now through 20 games I am 14-6. I play as the Bucks but had a fantasy draft. The only problem I have is the games are high scoring even with the low shooting percentage and that is because I tend to move the ball up the court quickly.

You really just have to stick with it. It is a grind. I play on HOF sim with minimal adjusted sliders and so far I am 4-3. Had one game I was up 3 with 20 secs left and mike conley hit a pull up 28 footer to goto OT and i lost in OT. Extremely frustrating but gg for them. I appreciate the CPU really being aware of late game situations in 2k14. He knew he needed the 3 and i was playing off him a bit and i didn't think he would dare shoot that far out lol.

Adjust your POE according to what they are doing. I adjust mine each quarter and sometimes even more often after seeing what the cpu is doing to me. I am loving the challenge. Make shooters drivers and drivers shooters. If you see a guy with a bad jumpshot going iso and hes 22 feet away from the basket, back off a bit and dare him to shoot. Try to contest at the last second. If he makes it, then gg. You have to play the percentages in this game. You cannot let the cpu continue to go into the paint over n over or they will kill you. I make them kill me by the jumper mostly. If they are on fire, i will limit perimeter shots and play physical. If they are killing me by driving then you change POE to nothing inside and play physical.

Change it up. I like to randomly double team a few times a game when they bring in their 2nd unit. I usually can force a couple turnovers and get some easy fastbreak points. If you have a good passing point guard, run a lot of pick in rolls. even if they cover the roll man, you can get an opportunity to drive in and get a layup, fouled, or kickout to a wing guy for a wide open 3.

If you are in lots of close games like me, the most important thing is winning possessions down the stretch in the 4th quarter. Play smart. Don't force passes. Don't try to gamble. Play solid defense. If your man takes beats you off the dribble and is coming in the paint, you gotta switch players quick to get to your big man and come over and time that block. Don't expect your cpu teammates to help you a lot because most of the time they won't unless you are playing with a super highly rated team. I play with the 76ers so i get basically no help on D from my guys.

Last game was the first time I was able to pull away in the 4th qtr. it was tied 73-73 after 3 quarters and I ended up winning 104-91. I got multiple key stops down the stretch and it felt so good to be rewarded for good defense. Michael Carter Williams was sick. He had 28 pts, 9 assists, 8 rebs, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. He is so fun to use in this game. I feel stoked after that win lol. Anyways, I hope this helps a bit.

This is normal I think. Once you move up it gets harder, 2 or 3 is really close too. You aren't getting blown out, shows that you can keep up. Keep playing on Pro, you'll get better in no time.

This used to happen to me too, but now when I play Pro I win by 30-40 each time. Just watch out as you get better, Superstar and Hall of Fame can be super annoying.

Lol. The game is broken because you aren't that good? You just need to get better bro. Run plays. Take advantage of mismatches. You play sim basketball, there won't be an issue. I'm having great results on Superstar sim (not ready for HOF yet), with many close matches either way, and a couple 10-15 point wins for me (although I have got blown out more than I have blown out the CPU).

It's really hard to run plays because of 1. the slowness of the ball on passes; 2. the rampant spacing issues the AI has off the ball on offense; 3. the complete ineffectiveness of directional passing, as I rarely get the pass to go where I'm pointing the stick when I don't use icon passing (I use the 2K13-style controller setup so that I press left trigger to shoot...I was having a hard time adjusting to it being changed by default in 2K14); 4. players sometimes will just stop and won't continue to run a play or sit around and do nothing. And if you can get around these issues, then you have players who are expert 3 point shooters who put their foot on the line when shooting. It's amazing how the AI is able to play such close defense on all 5 of your players at once; this is another issue of the slow passing, it gives the AI ample time to react. The AI being able to contest the shots of all your players at once doesn't happen ALL the time, but enough that it doesn't feel very realistic.

I play 12 minute quarters on pro, haven't touched the sliders.

I can't complain with the result of most games; it's usually pretty close unless I play horribly and can lose by 10+.

What I do have a problem with is how the CPU plays to get those results. I get absolutely DESTROYED by opposing point guards. One or two dribble moves and they are past me *every... single... time...* I've tried everything, sagging off, intense D, no intense D, nothing seems to work. When they blow by, it's either a made lay-up or runner, or a dump pass for an easy bucket. It's not uncommon for opposing teams to put up 70-80 points in the paint against me. And on the rare occasion it's an auto bucket for the CPU, I get absolutely ANNIHILATED by offensive rebounds, even when I'm playing with a good frontcourt against scrubs. I frequently lose the rebound battle by 15+.

Of course I on the other hand try a dribble move and it's turns into that "bumped into defender I'll just struggle to retain possession" animation followed by a strip steal and a fast break dunk the other way, and if I miss a shot? Offensive rebound? No.

I completely agree with the gripe about CPU offensive rebounding. You should definitely tweak the CPU slider on that one. They get way too many offensive rebounds. I have frequently seen 1 CPU player with 4 of my team players, and some how the CPU gets the rebound. I know that can happen occasionally, but it is commonplace in 2K14.
