Re: Homecoming :: Jacksonville Jaguars (Madden 25)

No Place Like Home pt. 2
A frenetic conclusion; Jags deal, deal and deal again

Above: Jones-Drew is no more; Jags fans will get used to seeing MJD in the Red and Gold of San Francisco

JAX, Fla - "We had to make moves, it wasn't a case of being conservative, we had a list of targets and to get them we had to be the ones ready to make the deal" explained Caldwell (Jaguars GM).

It certainly felt like that at times, especially for the more conservative fans of the team who had been through the rough of recent. Many argued that the team had spent its future in return just for the hype of having a 'Florida' team, others said, well its not Jacksonville anymore its the Florida Jaguars.

However you viewed it, there was no turning back, Kahn had placed this objective into his team and the marketing mantra was there for all to see, this Jaguar team was about to have its 'Homecoming'.

So at what cost did the Jaguars change things up? Well arguably most importantly 10 draft picks have disappeared off the teams place, combining both 2014 and 2015. Infact the Jags just have picks 6 & 7 left in each year.

Anything else? Well Jones- Drew is not a Jag anymore, Linebacker Posluszny will also wear another teams jersey this season, whilst others including Cecil Shorts, Blackmon and Mercedes Lewis also all left as the Jaguars saw more trades than the floor of the NYSE.

Jones Drew later tweeted "I knew about the plans, I thought id be a part of those plans, but they appear to be serious... maybe too serious about this Florida gig. Its been good Jags fans, but im now a #49er"

Above: How about Gore? Frank Gore is the stud acquisition in the MJD trade

So who came in, the Jaguars made alot of upgrades, especially in offense with Frank Gore coming into Jacksonville alongside Anquan Boldin in the Jones Drew trade.

Kellen Winslow is the teams new Tight End, whilst Devin Hester and Santana Moss add to one of the strongest receiving corps now in the league. Bryant McKinnie was the lone addition to the offensive line.

On defense, Vilma and Sims come into a new looking Linebacker corps, whilst Robinson also moved from New Orleans in the deal that bought Vilma over. Darnell Dockett was the other big addition from Arizona to strengthen the defensive line.

Caldwell stated "It has been hectic, we have moved everything we could to achieve this... its not complete, but the vision has started. I hope that Jaguar fans will understand and see that we do mean business and we will make this team, their team for now and in future"

It has been an interesting off-season for the NFL, its a big gamble, one that could pay off but in all honesty it is one worth taking for the Jacksonville franchise that needs a lift and a kick in the right direction.
