Re: [PS4] QuestGAV's Wingspan & Playability Edit Rosters

Okay, updated the set to version 1.1 this morning. I added the Rudy Gay trade (released Austin Daye from the Raptors for the numbers to work, he's only played a handful of minutes so far). I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking at the Euro teams. I rerated 19 of them and moved them into the active rosters.

5 went to the teams that hold their draft rights:
Nikola Mrotic (72 ovr) was placed on the Bulls
      Sergio LLull (69) Rockets
      Georgios Printezis (68) Thunder
      Erazem Lorbek (67) Spurs
Sasha Kaun (67) Cavs (waived Henry Sims for this)

6 others have their draft rights held but no good spot on the roster so were made free agents:
      Emir Preldzic (68) WAS
      Ante Tomic (68) Utah
      Kostas Papanikolau (66) HOU
      Sofoklis Schortsanitis (66) ATL
      Nemanja Bjelica (64) MIN
      Bojan Bogdanovic (63) BRK

These guys were also made free agents:
      Rudy Fernandez (76)
      Dimitris Diamantidis (72)
      Vassilis Spanoulis (72)
      Kyle Hines (71)
      Juan Carlos Navarro (70)
      Viktor Khryapa (70)
      Marcelinho Huertas (70)
      Sergio Rodriguez (68)

To make it work a bunch of scrubs were exiled to Europe and are now riding the pine for Olympiacos, Real Madrid, & CSKA Moscow. Donatas Motiejunas seemed pretty lame in comparison to the other new Euros and was bumped to 65 OVR (from 58).

Finnaly someone doing wingspan edits. Id avise you to factor the standing reach to determine how you improve the wingspan.

The 'shoulder width' slider improves the actual wingpsan too. Its possible to improve a wingspan without touching the wingspan slider. Id say that is the best way to do it because some guys have larger wingspans without longer arms. They simply have wide shoulders.

Yeah it took me about 12 hours to find/collate the data, improvise a formula, and then edit all the players in game appropriately. I thought about trying to use shoulder width as well but I'd be doing it by the "eye test" and I'd rather try to do everyone in a reliable way.

I may use standing reach to try and develop something more complete though at a later date, but right now the unhappiness issue in MyGM is more pressing to me. It's hard to say I have a good roster if every time you face the Cavs there are 4 players who are 12 points below their given rating or if Danny Green gets traded for Mo Williams every season (only to have the Blazers trade Green again because he doesn't want to sit behind Matthews/Batum any more than he wanted to sit behind Manu/Kawhi).

Your post in the main section yesterday resonated with me as it mentioned most of the things that are bugging the crap out of me. It's a little Blazers-centric obviously but it breaks down some of the key problems the game has in representing real basketball - and most of them come down to chronic laziness at 2k. Less attention to bells and whistles - more attention to nuts and bolts!

Whats up Man i checked out your rosters they are pretty good. I wouldnt mind starting a partnership without where i can edit updated accessories and also update the shoes of all players in the league to accurately depict what their life-like characters wear just to make your roster more realistic. we could talk over psn if you want. I appreciate the offer but am mostly interested in gameplay right now, I think having someone else work on the aesthetics would complicate things.

I'm actually going through right now rerating guys to try and help reduce the roster turnover and edit some of the more ridiculous over/underrated people. I'd expect Amare to take a hit on this first pass.

Version 1.2 involves some extensive editing to try and curb unhappiness in MyGM and improve realism by fixing guys who are way out of whack. Still a long way to go. In my test run there were still an assload of trades, though they seemed to make more sense. Would love to hear potential solutions from you guys reading this. It seems like a good 6th man is something the AI can never hold onto. Grr 2k! Your logic sucks.

Stable franchises in terms of happiness:
76ers, Bucks, Grizzlies, Hawks, Kings, Spurs, Suns, Thunder, Twolves

MCW needs an upgrade and will get one next update. Maybe Jeff Teague too.

                        Small problems:
                        Bobcats:
                        Ben Gordon 76 to 70
                        Sessions 74-72
Gordon and Henderson stay happy now. Sessions still gets annoyed.

                        Heat:
                        Ray Allen 79 to 76

Doesn't stop him from crying. And Beasley gets angry then traded every season. He's playing too well for me to nerf him enough to stop that. (if I was rating him based on last year he'd be a 67ish, he was awful)

                        Jazz:
Richard Jefferson will get nerfed next update to stop his raging for undeserved playing time.

                        Knicks:
                        Stoudemire 83-69
                        JR Smith 84-72
                        Shumpert 82-79
                        Bargnani 70-75
                        Prigioni 66-71
                        MWP 74-71

They were happy before but those guys were all rated terribly and I couldn't wait for next update.

                        Lakers:
Jodie Meeks & Nick Young both want playing time that isn't there and I don't see a reasonable edit that would take that desire away.

                        Magic:
                        Tobias Harris 74-72
                        Vucevic 74-78
                        Turkoglu 72-67
                        Afflalo to SF

Vucevic's ratings were a travesty. Might have to drop Harris a bit more to prevent pouting.

                        Nuggets:
                        Andre Miller 74-71
                        R Foye 72-67

Should fix those two. Gallo/Chandler and McGee/Hickson are guaranteed friction though. And Mozgov probably deserves a boost too. I'm thinking of switching Nate Robinson to SG as many of his most common lineups are alongside Miller or Lawson. Thoughts?

                        Pacers:
Scola going to be tradebait most seasons. Need to see Granger play a bit to resolve their lineup issues.

                        Pelicans:

                        Jason Smith 62-67

Austin Rivers probably due for a downgrade.

                        Pistons:
                        Drummond 76-82

He's a top 5 center right now and will be top 3 with D12 & Brook Lopez at end of year.

                        Raptors
                        Fields 74-67
                        Salmons 72-63
                        Amir Johnson 71-77
                        Jonas Valanciunas 68-73

Greivis Vazquez gets upset and traded for the 3rd time in a year. Doesn't deserve a nerf. Salmons and Fields are two of the worst players in the NBA. Johnson and Valanciunas deserve better!

                        Rockets:
                        Ronnie Brewer 73-65
                        Aaron Brooks 77-71

Lin and Beverley will still have conflict but getting Brooks out of the fight helps. Brewer sucks.

                        Warriors
                        Speights 72-69
                        jermaine ONeal 72-70
                        Toney Douglas 74-70

3 mediocre guys clamoring for minutes. Hopefully this chills them out. Harrison Barnes is a bigger problem without an easy answer.

                        Wizards
                        Porter 74-72
                        Harrington 72-67

Might have to go further with Porter for him to be ok with backing up Ariza.

                        Big messes:
                        Cavaliers:
                        Tristan Thompson 74-77
                        Anthony Bennett 73-69

I think I fixed Thompson/Bennett. Clark, Miles, & Gee's closeness in rating (& real life production this year) mean 2 of them will be unhappy. Couldn't find a solution that didn't make the ratings worse than they already are. Varejao and Jack are too good for bench roles and will keep getting angry despite playing behind Bynum/Irving. Can't fix that without unjustly raping them.

                        Celtics:
                        Gerald Wallace 74-69
                        Sullinger 72-77
Jordan Crawford 74-71 and SG to PG
                        Bogans 68-65
                        Marshon Brooks 72-69

Sullinger's deserved upgrade (best player on the team this year) should establish him as clear starter over Bass and maybe Bass will be ok sitting behind him. Still trying to work through that logic. Wallace should stop whining. Crawford has been starting at PG and I actually increased his ratings despite the OVR dip - his ratings are just less suited for PG. Brooks and Bogans nerfed to get them out of rotation. Hopefully this opens enough minutes to keep Courtney Lee happy.

                        Clippers:
                        Darren Collison 80-71
                        Jamison 75-67
                        Stephen Jackson 73-68
                        Jamal Crawford 80-73
                        Redick 73-76
                        Willie Green 69-66
                        BJ Mullens 66-69
                        Deandre Jordan 73-76

Ugh, every wing on this team got pissed before they signed Stephen Jackson. Fixed a couple overrated vets and compensated by getting Redick/Mullens/Jordan some recognition. Not sure I can fix Crawford & Dudley's attitudes.

                        Mavericks:
                        Devin Harris 74-71
                        Ellington 72-66

Vince Carter gets angry fast and gets traded. Not sure I can fix that without a bad nerf. Might have to go further with Harris to keep him happy, still testing. Ellington sucks and was crying.

                        Nets:

                        Brook Lopez 80-85
                        J Terry 77-66
                        KG 82-78
Alan Anderson from SF to SG
                        Pierce 84-80
                        D Williams 88-81
                        Mason Plumlee 63-68
                        Livingston 62-67

Brook Lopez is playing like a beast for the 2nd straight year. Plumlee & Livingston have been solid. Anderson's been playing mostly 2 and it opens minutes for him and Kirilenko. Terry, Pierce, and KG should have started at these OVRs this year and probably deserve to lose more.Kirilenko's going to stay pissy, as is Blatche. Like Varejao & Jack, I'm not sure I can make them happy. Any thoughts?

                        Trailblazers:

                        Mo Williams 77-71
                        Robin Lopez 68-77
                        Dorell Wright 72-70
                        E Watson 67-63
                        Batum 78-83

Williams always got traded for a ridiculous package like they were trading him in 2008. Lopez has stepped to the plate and delivered. Watson is one of the worst players in the league. Batum got upgraded - it might be a bit too much.

Version 1.22 released, edited every PF and C's stamina. I think I'm mostly done editing for happiness. I've got anger and player trades down by 33% over the default roster. I'd have to savagely rape a few players to get it down much further and I'd rather have them intact but angry.

For stamina I didn't like seeing the AI run their big men into the floor so that they were exhausted and useless in crunch time. Most guys got 3-7 points, let me know if that turns out too high, I don't want them all playing 40 minutes either.

Working 6 12 hour shifts over the next 7 days so I don't anticipate much in the way of updates in the near future.
