I had a few game changing moments on NHL 13 but thought I could advance them further to improve realism on 14 particularly with the better game physics although now I seem to have hit the wall in certain areas and need some help. Firstly though here are some things I've noticed that I'm pretty sure other (not all) users will have echoed.
Puck control.
The higher it is the easier it is to loose the puck. It's literally what the blurb says. "How easy it is to knock your opponent off the puck"
So if human is at 1 and CPU is at 6 the CPU will knock you from the puck more and you will struggle. If you have both at 6 then everyone is getting bumped off easily.
Passing.
A different theory here. Pass assist at full but pass accuracy at 1. In real hockey players rarely miss an easy pass so assist helps with that but put them in a ropey situation and they struggle unless it's Crosby, hence 1. You will also notice it stops the CPU from fannying about going east west before entering the zone instead opting to dump rather than try an elaborate passing routine. It doesn't make the CPU or yourself crap at passing it just reflects the situation. Someone like Crosby still has a high pass rating.
Hitting/Penalties.
Get a balence between hitting assistance and aggression. Also put poke and stick lift higher. I had HA at 5 and aggression at 5 and the CPU took 8 pens in one 9 min period mostly for charging. Dropping aggression to 4 has balanced it out now. With higher PC and SL yes more chance of the puck getting knocked but also more tripping & high sticking penalties. It doesn't necessarily make the CPU awesome at getting the puck back.
Now I need your help.
I'm struggling for a realistic/consistent balance between shooting and goalies. With SA at 2 and goalie reaction on 3 and attribute effects on 3 I'm struggling to score decent snipes with quality players. I just want that gauge where good players get that shooting edge with out making goalies suck.
Thanks for reading and I hope you can help me out. If you have any questions give me a shout.
