Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
Blame the patch #3 or not, the sad truth is that Onlines games are now almost unplayable because this horrible input lag. I have the best internet connection (60M with cable tv provider) and the game response after pushing any button is like almost 1 sec delay. Unacceptable when compared with fully loaded online games like COD Ghost where several thousand of players play smoothly.

I agree.
This input lag issue cannot be put on the back burner - this affects all online portions of the game and is completely unacceptable.
It's so bad that I'm now forced to shoot with Square as it's a bit more responsive than the shot stick. The shot stick has such a horrendous delay (r stick on defense too).Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira - UFC Hall of Fame -
Re: Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
Wait, the lag is worse post patch?
I was primarily an Online Ranked player on CG, but after experiencing the lag online on Next gen on launch night (somehow still managed to win), I haven't touched online ranked since. I have played a few with some people from OS, but the lag made all of the games unplayable.
I really can't imagine it getting any worse, but if this is the case there's really no point in playing online at all.Sixers/Panthers/Tarheels

Re: Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
It's hard to play in any mode, human or CPU. It really is a "game breaker" to me as well. Feel like I have no control. For what it's worth, I don't feel the isomotion on offense is much better, control wise.
I really thought this would be tuned with this patch! Pretty bummed. It's become clear to me this game will need a full cycle (or more) to polish up the controls and all the under the hood AI.
(Side Note) Unfortunately I think a lot of 2K's player ratings, tendencies and coaching styles are so out of whack it isn't helping. Or even the plays for that matter. Using STATS, Inc or something (as I thought they said they would, daily) could improve this area significantly. Hope they implement that. Right now Loul Deng and Stephen Jackson are equal rating wise 79ovr. Yikes!Comment

Just do what I did and stop playing this game completely. 2K won't get it until they see the number of players go down. If you settle for playing offline modes, this gives 2K the illusion that most people like offline and they will focus most of their energy there.
Sad to say but my next-gen experience is way worse than my current-gen experience.Lineup:

Earv,
Offline the game can (emphasis on can) play like a dream. But online is big. If I can't play against humans (much like years ago where you would play at a person's house), then I cannot come close to fully enjoying this game.
I might buy the other game. Right now I'm playing a lot of FIFA.
As far as 2K, I will be offline until I hear a good word from a rep or the community regarding a smoother online experience.

Re: Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
The lag is due the horrible gameplay that rely heavily on animations to execute every single moves. Until they change the game play mechanics and make it user friendly to control, it will continue to be so even if you have good connection, it doesn't really matter. I imagine if Shigeru Miyamoto is checking on NBA2k game, he would say the control is HORRRIBLE. It's not responsive and there is always a delay of game responsiveness due to the fact that you can't really break all the animations at any time.
For example, if you try to reach and steal the ball w/ a player as the dribbler dribbling up the court, the animations of reaching and stealing is so ridiculous slow that by the time the animation is finished, the dribbler had already gone 10 feet ahead of you. I never EVER SEEN THAT in an actual NBA GAME EVER! And you can't run and reach and steal at the same time because if you do, you're initializing that same animations where the dribbler can run and blow by you before you can recover. If you look at NBA2k7 and compare that to NBA2K14...it's night and day in regard to control responsiveness. That is why NBA2k7 is also the MOST responsive game online as well.
NBA2k14 basically looks good but play crappy. Until 2K have the gut to change their game play (STOP the HEAVY USE OF ANIMATIONS as gameplay), it will remain the same.Comment

Re: Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
What would you have instead of animations? This argument makes no sense to me. There has never been a basketball game that has successfully implemented a real-life physics system that works, so if it 2K know that they can't make it work now, what's wrong with animations? Besides that, exactly how are you supposed to shoot, dribble, run etc. without animations. The lag is due the horrible gameplay that rely heavily on animations to execute every single moves. Regarding the Japanese producer you just name-dropped, no doubt he is successful in the gaming sector, but I cannot give any sort of value to an opinion from someone who makes Super Mario games, so to use him as an appeal to authority is the worst way to commit that logical fallacy. NBA 2K is supposed to be a basketball simulation, not a game where you can flatten giant ants and jump whilst already in mid-air.
Whilst the stealing system could use some work, you can't use that as an indictment of the entire gameplay being based on animations. In real-life, if you attempt a running steal you DO risk the chance of being blown by. You can't just decide you want to cancel your action and perfectly recover whenever you want to. You can't just turn on a dime when you feel like it. Momentum has to be respected. You can't just break out of a dribble when you feel like it. You have to wait for the ball to bounce off the court.
You can never have full control in a basketball sim, because in real-life you never have full control anyway. What you're asking for is an arcade game where you can do what you want whenever you want, regardless of where you are and what velocity you were travelling at.Originally posted by Dogslax41Most people that are asking for a simulation game don’t really want a simulation game because its too hard.Comment

The animations are toooooo slowwwww and tooooo longgggggg!
There is an animation in the game where the defender will bump into you and you will lose control and stumble 2 or 3 steps. It is triggered during certain situations when you press shoot or pass . The issue is once the animation is over the player will still shoot or pass it regardless.
If we could break out the animation it wouldn't be so bad.
The lose the ball animation is so bad! The player will go into that animation and you can't pick up the ball allowing the defender to pick it up at an extremely high rate.
So think of slow animations offline and it will be a huge lag online.Last edited by keshunleon; 12-22-2013, 09:36 PM.True bout my business, Mane!Comment

Re: Input lag in Online games is now supermegaultra INTENSE, horribly
how is possible, from a business point of view, that a Patch may destroy a gameplay?
there is no respect toward customers.
The post-patch online lag is big and now next-gen online is absolutely unplayable. No joke, this game is broken.Comment
