Talbot is an awesome player to have. A great piece. I'm sure he'll find his way on to a couple more Cup teams before it's all said and done. Players like that win Cups.

But Downie fits in Philly. Dude looks like Pauly from Rocky. That was a good, relatively fair trade. The thing is, you know what Talbot is gonna give you. To a degree, that's a plus. Not much up and down with him. Downie, on the other hand, can be great when with great players. We have/had enough grinder-types that we didn't need Talbot any more. For such a short stint, he was well liked.

Still... He was a dirty Penguin first. I don't think that ever left my mind. Talbot's really good but... HE WAS A PEN. Yuck.

Pretty pathetic shootout. I was kinda hoping Torts was gonna let Luongo have a shot.

Try seventy years, granted I've only been around for twenty-three of them but still...

But those guys will never be dealt. Both took home-town discounts and I think if you deal them, then the 'culture' of the Wings changes dramatically both on and off the ice.

Like you said, once they get healthy, I think they'll compete and hopefully threaten to score more than 2 goals on a more consistent basis.
But I think they're a very mediocre team which desperately needs to get at least 1, if not 2 stars under the age of 28.
Yeah, I had the exact same thoughts re: Hank and Dats...never want to say that out loud though. I absolutely love those guys to pieces, and they're among my favorite Wings ever, but if it meant getting younger and better long-term....but I agree you have to respect the commitment from those guys to the franchise. Maybe not signing guys like Weiss in the future would be a better way to start....

To be fair Stephen Weiss is actually a pretty good player.

                  Is David Clarkson mentally handicapped?
He just tried to start a fight with Bertuzzi, because Bert whacked Bernier's water bottle - which was laying on the ice and broke up a potential Wings chance - after the whistle blew.

Seriously? How desperate is this guy to look relevant?
I have a feeling he'll be dealt within a year or two. He's not coming close to living up to that new contract.

Hey, maybe after this season, the Wings can deal Weiss for Clarkson?

Apparently the refs are afraid to call blatant penalties against the Bruins now.. Just because Chara is the biggest player in the league doesn't make him immune to penalties.

I think it might have something to do with the water up there in Toronto. I mean Kessel sticks his hand in Scott's face and doesn't expect him to drop the gloves despite him (Scott) saying, "I think we're gonna have to go." Everyone tries to make Scott look like the bad guy here because he is so much bigger but if you watch that replay Kessel sticks his hand up in Scott's face first. So maybe it's just something in the Leafs organization. Talking about the preseason incident.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA These refs are a joke. Chara slashes and breaks his stick on Otts and Ott goes to the box for slashing.

Sorry about that rant, got a bit frustrated watching the refs miss a boarding call, a cross check and slash on the bruins. The slash was the worst of all though. AHHHH. Why is watching sports so frustrating?

The only thing handicapped is our salary cap. God, what an awful deal. Almost as bad as the Bozak one.

I would probably trade him for Weiss right now.

So happy the Devils got rid of him. He's an inconsistent player that only had a top 6 role on the team because there was no one else.

The Devils win it in OT and Andy Greene gets the game winner! Nothing like the team that couldn't win for seven straight.

I honestly think both players need to be dealt to get a fresh start.
Weiss has been an absolute disaster as a Wing. What a terrible deal that's looking like right now.
Hopefully he can reset for next year.

P.S. Did you see Cleary trying to sell that boarding call? That was embarrassing. I would have given him a penalty for that terrible acting job.

Blatant stick throw by Bernier. Paste-eater refs call nothing.

Scary thing is, with the Rogers deal, and the salary cap skyrocketing, 5.5 million for Clarkson might look like a bargain.

He turned it around in this one and had a pretty good game I think.
