2013 Penn State Nittany Lions Preview

2013 will be another interesting year for the Penn State Nittany Lions, who will be faced with the first round of scholarship reductions and the loss of several key players from the 2012 team.

Currently serving unprecedented sanctions in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the Nittany Lions hope to improve on last season's impressive 8-4 season that saw them just a few points and some close games away from an undefeated Big Ten record. However, Penn State will have to replace quarterback Matt McGloin, and in his place will be true freshman Christian Hackenberg. The Nittany Lions must also replace the heart and soul of the defense. Michael Mauti and Gerald Hodges are both now Minnesota Vikings, and linebacker Josh Hull looks to take command of the defense under first year coordinator John Butler.

To go along with their Big Ten schedule, Penn State will face the rival Syracuse Orange at MetLife Stadium to open the season. From there, the have three straight home games with Eastern Michigan, UCF, and Kent State before opening Big Ten play at Indiana.

Most games are winnable. But teams like Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin will be tough to overcome.

        Final Prediction: 8-4
