So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
Help me understand something. In my game, Jared Cunningham who is currently in my season on the hawks, wears a pair of longer leggings with a pad on the shin that stop just above the sock line. I believe Durant wears them as well. Yet they're not available anywhere in the MyPlayer store. Kirelenko and Udonis Haslem wear a knee pad and calf sleeve...at the same time (OMG). Yet, I can't with MyPlayer. So how is it these things are built into the game already, we're just locked out from using them ourselves?Tags: None -

Yeah, it's mind boggling. You can even do it to other players by editing them in MyGm, yet you can't wear a calf sleeve and knee pads on My Player.Help me understand something. Honestly, I am pretty disappointed with the customization. I don't like pre-set faces and with rookies in my second season having the same face just different hairstyles--it is getting really repetitive. It really surprises me too since other 2K games had great customization.
Another thing is, all these famous players have great tattoos. Yet, the ones given to us are awful and/or look weird when put on. I don't think it would have been difficult to implement pieces of other players tattoos at least to mix and match to make sleeves of your own. They are in the game and it is not as hard as people may think. They could have just mapped the tattoos (which they probably did) and when applied they auto-proportioned. Much like how gear works.
Also, the lack of body types is annoying. No matter what weight you choose, the body type is always the same...
At the end of the day, they'll probably blame it on the network and the park. But it lags anyway, so it wouldn't be a great excuse.
Hopefully when 2K15 drops they will have more control on what they can do with the new consoles.Check out my gaming channel YouTube.com/OffTheBrinkTV for Tips, Tricks, Tutorials, Walkthroughs and Let's Play videos! -
Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
I 100% agree with everything u just said. It amazes me that we have all this new tech, yet somethings like facial customization take a step backwards? I can see it being a case of having limited time to properly implement a new facial customization system that would be capable of creating faces that appear to be on par with the other player models in the game. But that excuse won't fly come next year. Body types need to be seriously addressed. Again, how is it there are (slightly) different builds in the game already, we just can't select them for MyPlayer? You've already coded it! Just like the accessories. It's coded. Game didn't break. So makes no sense for us not to be able to use an asset that's readily present. Just stupidComment

Yeah. I'm sure your guess is right also. It is the same as mine. New console means new developing tools to learn with a deadline to get a next gen title out. They will have no excuses with 2K15. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I actually hope NBA Live gets its act together next year. Some competition would put a fire under 2k's ars. I mean, no freestyle practice for My Player!? It's already there for the scripted first season! (Score 20 straight jump shots)I 100% agree with everything u just said. Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
2K's art team is lazy and focused attention to details that we didn't ask for or care about.
I can assure you not one member or player of ANY 2k ever in life wanted them to have 'every bulb' in 'every arena' detailed to the exact hue/blah blah...
In reality I HIGHLY doubt they took that time to focus on the color of the lights when they can't even get the uniforms, players, or courts right. Then the talk of the detail on the backboards and the sidelines, but generic CAP faces for your my players AND other rookies using the same exact faces...like come on guys. 2K never had a problem selling the game because of the lighting in the arena, but they insisted on making that some type of selling point??
It's not just that...they did this while neglecting all the stuff they knew fans love.
So all in all. 2Ks art team is not only lazy, lol their PR is filled with misconceptions. As it's supposed to be, but this feels quite like false advertisement, lol...Comment

Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
It's because of the way they implemented editing your my player. Unlike the normal editing of players, My Players accessories are edited from a server versus being on disc, if you notice your game always downloads accessories before you can equip anything...this is my take on the matter. 2K should really think about going back to the pre-VC era customization days and give us back the control we once had. I don't mind them spicing things up to be more in line with Next-Gen gaming but not at the expense of losing what worked so well and really made 2K what it was. lol, I wish they'd go back but it won't happen. It will just become a more micro-transaction-based game where we'll probably have to spend 5000 VC to even begin MyPlayer mode. It's because of the way they implemented editing your my player. If that ends up happening, I will be done with 2K, and would seriously consider trying to stomach the other franchise if it is still around.Comment

Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
Accessories are edited through their servers? This has nothing to do with it. The store loads availability and the items to purchase aren't stored locally, but the game saves to the server when you exit the dressing room because it is saving what your player has equipped and the backup SAVE file is stored on their server. This has nothing to do with the ability, or lackthereof, to equip two leg items. It is just a restriction in the coding. The game is reading a calf sleeve as a leg item and a knee pad as a leg item and like if you were to select the same leg item, it is removing it to replace it with another leg item. It's because of the way they implemented editing your my player. They should have made it leg, lower leg, arm and lower arm like it is for editing players in MyGM. Like me and the OP said before, it's already coded. Why they didn't implement it for My Player is mind boggling.Last edited by Crookid; 12-23-2013, 01:34 PM.Check out my gaming channel YouTube.com/OffTheBrinkTV for Tips, Tricks, Tutorials, Walkthroughs and Let's Play videos!Comment

Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
At the same time, I find it funny that my player can wear Adidas accessories that the actual NBA players can't in the game, when Derrick Rose is the main one wearing all of them in real life! Smh...Comment

Re: So the computer can wear accessories we can't?
Well I tweeted Mike Wang, Chris Manning, and ole' Ronnie 2k, and the reply I got was....nothing, no response of course. This should easily be able to be patched in (as the code is already present), but I have a feeling it won't and we've seen our last patch for the next gen version. I hope I'm wrong, but based on last gen, they always release a couple little patches than one "big" patch and it's a wrap until the next edition comes outComment

I never said I knew how it worked, I said the way it's implemented in MyPlayer is different from normal editing screen and I just gave my take on the way I see it. I am aware that it saves to a server but also, from when I first experienced MyPlayer on Next-Gen without going online I was able to set up my My Player the same way you could in MyGM mode...I haven't tried it since then so I don't know if it still holds true.Accessories are edited through their servers? Nah, when you do it you can set his looks but not his gear. His gear is done through the store and dressing room.
Also, I didn't say you knew how it worked, I was just telling you. Sorry if it sounded rude, I wasn't trying to insult your intelligence or anything. Merry Christmas man.
