EASHL: strength or balance
So I know in 13 many people believed that balance was useless and strength was much more effective when it came to helping a player not go to the ice when being checked. But what is the general consensus this year? Do you guys believe that balance is useless or does in fact play a pivotal role in not finding yourself on the ice every hit?Tags: None -
Re: EASHL: strength or balance
My biggest problem is that being checked a little bit, my guy loses the puck. I have high 80's on puck control, mid 80 in balance, and high 60's in strength and yet from a small bump i lose the puck.
If someone lines me up perfectly, I will still get dropped on the ice. A lot of the times my guy will go on his knees; losing the puck.
I haven't tried having high 80's on strength with a low balance. Too lazy to reapply all my stats. I would like the answer as well as for strength vs balance. -
Re: EASHL: strength or balance
IMO both of these mean nothing in general..
if you wanted a harder shot, sure strength does help with that. depends on your play style though and where you shoot from etc.
i dont waste any points in either of these though..Twitch

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
My Playmaker builds have 90 strength Acceleration and Speed. 75 balance 80 strength and I have no problem holding on the puck when I should. I have always kept balance at 75 at the least. 13 inch skates also help a lot.PSN:BrrbisBrrComment

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
as a playmaker you're able to get both those up that high? What do you have your endurance at. I always roll with 85 endurance. I feel like my guy never tires out with 85 so I see no need to go any higher.
right now I am a superstar 3. I have balance and strength about even with like 74s. I play as a two way forward because I play as a center and I am really enjoying this build I have now. I think the strength and balance boosts really help with keeping my player upright when getting hit by other players (besides the one who make their players 6'6 and dump all their points into checking obviously). that coupled with 90 puck control and my guy has escaped from crowded areas with the puck still on his stick multiple timesComment

I have a +12 on acceleration and speed. I have a +7 on strength and I think a +7 on agility. My endurance is 85. I also have a Legend 2 card.as a playmaker you're able to get both those up that high? Speed also has a lot to do with balance. If you have a full head of steam and get hit on your side you can usually escape. There's been plenty of times I've gotten by guys who thought they had me lined up along the boards by holding protect puck.
Here's another tip, Hand Eye helps with stick checking. I can forecheck like a beast with my 85 stick check and 90 hand eye playmaker. Also, the attribute effect slider for online play seems to be set at 5, which means the biggest difference in attributes are for anything 90 plus. This makes that extra 5 point jump from 85 to 90 critical. That's not completely set in stone, but it's what I've noticed with my EASHL player.PSN:BrrbisBrrComment

hand eye had absolutley NOTHING to do with stick checking...NOTHING...its stick checking + discipline. I dont know why you come out with thisI have a +12 on acceleration and speed. I have a +7 on strength and I think a +7 on agility. My endurance is 85. I also have a Legend 2 card.

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
My poke checks and stick lifts are better with higher hand eye and less stick checking on my playmaker than twf. Also discipline only affects checking penalties, mostly elbowing. The truth is no one knows for sure the modifiers effects on the attributes with this game. You're just left by going on experience and what little the devs have told us.PSN:BrrbisBrrComment

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
Slightly related: Ive seen no evidence that having acceleration works.
Ive been playing with 65 acceleration and i dont seem to accelerate any slower.
Totally a broken attributeComment

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
Fiddy how far is your player progressed and do you have a team you play with? Me and my best nerd friend are Legend 3's and we only play 2v2s. It's tough to find someone decent to play with who will actually pass it and not play greasy. It's even tougher to play against kids who only try one timers all the time.
But yeah I'm an 83 overall C, he's a 78 overall RW. We started a new club and are trying to take this one serious and get an elite banner. I think we're 20-2 and we have an amateur cup banner and were going for the rookie banner this weekend. We should get in a few games sometime.Comment

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
Yo. I'm a legend 3 TWF. I play center. We have a 13 member team. Been playing together for past 4 years. We were runner up month one or month two in EASHL. Top 3 and top 10 EASHL as well. 10 elite banners I do believe. Since Nov 22nd we haven't played much. Dropped down to 20 or so. But we still play the playoffs. Lol. Dang Xbox one has taken our NHL time away. Lol.Fiddy how far is your player progressed and do you have a team you play with? Me and my best nerd friend are Legend 3's and we only play 2v2s. Re: EASHL: strength or balance
Acceleration effects short area speed, not long distance speed. I notice a huge difference between just a few points.
On Balance & Strength: High Balance w/ high puck control is great if you are a dangler type player, people will hit you and you will bump off. Use Strength though if you are more of a shooter, with Strength in the 70's and nothing in slap shot, you can still have a great slap shot. But with low balance and high strength, you can take the hit but your guy will be more likely to lose the puck.
I'm at Legend 2, few games away from L1 and play in Division 1. All the attributes have an impact, if you don't realize it its just because X Attribute isn't something you use based on your play style. The key is figuring out the attributes that most help your play style.
Other things I've noticed:
-Agility's importance goes up the more you like to handle the puck, quick turns are better then dekes.
-Endurance is a must if you are a two-way player and help out in your own zone. Less important if you are a cherry picker.
-Shooting accuracy is more important then power from what I've experienced (but I also always play with a few points in Strength). Shot power can be made up by learning how to "wind up" your shot
-Balance, again more important if you want to handle the puck or if you always go for the wind up wrister to score
-Acceleration is mostly helpful getting to loose pucks a step before the other player, so more important if you are a defensive type player in my opinion
-speed is more important the more offensive/cherry picking you do
-Hand eye makes a big difference in a lot of small things like picking up a bouncing puck, gathering a rebound, catching a bad pass.
-Passing is the biggest difference maker stat in my opinion. Every point makes a noticeable difference on the ice. Maxed out passing (I'm a playmaker with 95 passing) and I can thread the needle against covered players
-Checking on the other hand doesn't make as big of a difference. Checking is all about momentum, picking up speed before the hit.
-Poke Check doesn't make a noticeable difference in my opinion either, its more about user play and angling the poke right
-Def Awareness, in theory intercepts more passes. Doesn't seem to make a big difference, I always have it maxed out and still passes sometimes go right through me.
-Slap shot is under used by a lot of players. You can score a ton with a good slap shot.
-Puck Control, even maxed out won't prevent a good poke. But very handy still if you learn how to manually avoid poking sticks.
-Aggressiveness effects how your guy reacts to suffering big hits. Not a big effect, but I do notice it a bit.
Anyways, those are my experiences.Comment

Re: EASHL: strength or balance
I definitely noticed a difference in lower accel and agility by only about 3 points. Usually play with them maxed and tried experimenting to get more strength. The accel was pretty noticeable in certain situations. Agility wasn't as bad but I could tell a difference as my player seemed to turn around slower than he did at maximum.
I may expire kent with adding more points towards my hand eye and take some off of puck control to see how it works outComment
