He is a TE on the depth chart and does occasionally get in a 3-point stance.

I'm laying in bed laughing my *** off at that whole sequence. What a cluster****. They rushed a snap on 1st and goal from the 1 for no reason. Bad snap, loss of several yards. Then the QB steps up into a sack on 2nd down. No timeouts, mind you. Derp #2. Then suddenly the FG team is rushing on. Shank. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

This is an obvious case of ASU just not caring tonight after losing their chance at the Rose Bowl.

That's why a lot of these bowls don't even interest me anymore. You never know who is going to show up or who cares.

Tech showed up to play and the score reflects that.

Sometimes, it's the underdogs that show up. Like you said, ASU probably still has a hangover after the championship loss thinking they were this close to the Rose Bowl and now they're just thinking this is another game. Tech on the other hand had a great first half of the season, lost some awful games and now they think it's a privilege to be in a decent bowl with how bad they played in the 2nd half of the season. Either way, we may not be seeing each team's true self tonight.

Arizona State can't catch a break. Awful PI call, dropped TD pass, and now they're wasting timeouts which they will definitely need later in the game.

ASU's o-line seems like they're confused on a lot of plays. Or they're just bad at pass blocking.

Unless ASU scores in under a minute, they may have to attempt an onside kick if they score because of all the timeouts they wasted. But they do have to score first haha.
